I recommend reading his "Practicing the Power of Now" (Part Three: Acceptance and Surrender). He explains how to become free of compulsive thinking and arrive at inner peace. Today I was completely identified with my thinking mind and after I had a meditation on his words from that book and that chapter, all suffering disappeared. Thank you Eckhart!
I'm sure your right, but personally I struggle to read Eckharts books and get much much more from his videos. I'm much more of an audible learner and I'm extremely into Eckharts factual understanding of how our relationships with our minds affect and dictate our peace and happiness 99% of the time. I'm personally not a follower of spirituality as a movement so struggle with that side of Eckharts books. But full power to all those who enjoy both elements of Eckharts offerings 🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@johngreen4683I understand you so well. In addition I’ve also really been annoyed by some of the people who have recommended his books to me. As an example I was discussing road safety with a woman and she kept telling me to accept “what is” and read “the Power of Now”. No, Eckhart does not teach that it is necessary to accept people dying in car crashes, simply because our communities fail to implement better road safety measures, what ever those may be. Eckhart doesn’t advocate for stupidity in that way or accept suffering in that way. However, I have gained huge practical successes in my life through his advice and encouragement. I guess, the factual reason behind it is: Calm down, be still from the inside, then the motor can start naturally and you can run or walk or jump as fast or high as you please. And if it doesn’t please you, stop, take a break…as long as it takes, take the break as long as it takes. I’ve always been a procrastinator. But I am in fact a person now, who gets so, so many things done and strangely without stress. And it really started with: stop, be quiet enjoy the moment (or suffer full on through the moment). But go through it, don’t let the mind, your memories just go crazy in you and paralyze you. There is also a video where he talks about why some people don’t achieve what they set out to achieve and he says: because sometimes they don’t give it their all. Giving it your all in the moment is also something you can re-learn as a grownup, as a tired person. I am not a spiritual teacher or like to share my spiritual views…at all…but from a very practical standpoint, his teachings have been unbelievably helpful to me. Another example is: keep busy, keep busy, so you don’t go crazy and start thinking. The actually more effective way is to calm down, be still, get comfortable in your self, then go full gas if you want or slow, if you want…It seems more difficult at first, but you are coming from a stronger more stable place. This to me is very practical and factual and based in reality. As for the spiritual part of his speeches I will say, that I had a similar education to him, as I grew up in Germany, where Christianity is often not brought to you the way it is in other countries. It leaves a lot of room for incorporating other ideas of religion, even logic and knowledge of unpropagandized history. So I do enjoy his spiritual findings on Jesus, Buddhism, stoism…etc…But I completely understand someone who has no “patience” for that and to whom it also might seem useless and even arrogant. So, what I’m saying is, maybe you could try to give his books and videos another chance from a strictly practical point of view. I hope this made some sense for you.
The most beautiful thing, is observing conciousness as conciousness. It's the most familiar feeling you can feel, beautiful seeing it and feeling it, being it and receiving it. It's a gift.
@homeostasis360 when someone rises into presence, there remains only the conciousness as an pure observer. When this conciousness, this pure presence, meets and sees itself through someone else or through a different form - it is peaceful, clear, unbothered, friendly, lifely. It is a feeling of truth. I do believe, it can't be explained how it feels.
@@justinschmidt6261 thank you for answering my question but I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. How does this consciousness see itself through someone else? What does that even mean?
@@homeostasis360 I can't explain this. Not because I don't want to, but it is only when you are completely present and observing without judgement or thought, can it be known.
I recently ordered 3 of your books on Amazon. I should have them by December 5th. I'm looking forward to diving right in and starting to read them. Much respect, Sir.
That's so funny, but he really is! But like a sea turtle to me! 😂❤ It's amazing that you saw that and in such a real way. Thank you for sharing that because I am able to appreciate him even that much more, and in a way I thought I never could. 🙏💙🩵💙
I'm so grateful for Ekhart pointing out the problematic side that could potentially manifest when one loses balance in the process of delaying gratification. I noticed such "symptoms" arising in me (i.e. delaying gratification to the point where there's no gratification anymore as the mind looks for the next thing to be lost in doing, again) It's crisp mountain water pouring through me. I'm waking up from this, thanks Ekhart.
I have always used delayed gratification as my reward for doing something. It has worked well but my challenge is to enjoy the process as well and stay in the moment.lm getting better at it and therefore enjoying life more.
Eckhart I'm not sure where I am but I feel as though I'm right on the brink of full realisation and I'm having a tiny conflict with my ego wanting to hang onto the hobbies I enjoy but I know to become full I must become empty first. I know my ego is doing this as a last ditch effort to remain. I/it must eradicate correct?? It's grasping..
8:00 The present moment is the portal into the being dimension. 9:25 Instead of delayed gratification, can you enjoy gratification in the activities? The tasks are already satisfying in the present moment, not as means to an end. True goodness is recognition of being as source of happiness. Thanks Eckhart. 27 November 2024. 😎⚡️🐇👌🪐🌛🐝🐝🥤🌴💝🌴🤠💰🌺🌹
Needed this. Heavenly Father give me your strength being a single mother is one of the most difficult job in the world both have special needs. Please help me. Lord I will lean on you to renew my spirit each and every day give me courage while I struggle to provide for my sons. Every month is a battle to pay my bills. Jesus help me to always put your will first.❤️💕
If we don't focus on the desired outcome though the bills ain't gonna get paid or we will be losers in society ya know. If I don't put the pressure on myself it won't get done. It takes a lot to be a decent person in this world. I've tried to enjoy the moment but truth is most of the time I don't like it no matter how hard I try to like it. Having money would honestly help me enjoy the present moment a lot more
It’s not about not having any goals or wishes for your life. You can wish for „better“ things. But they are not really better, because good and bad are just concepts of the mind. And they will not arrive in the future, only in the now. You need to open yourself up and receive everything you want right NOW. Key is to trust that the universe is going to deliver everything that you want, while staying in the present moment and not putting any pressure on yourself that you have „to do“ something. The only thing you really have to do is trust. Maybe watch the movie „The secret“ by Rhonda Byrne if you haven’t already. You don’t need money to be happy, but you need to be happy to get money.
In a world where the majority are not concious. U need money to live a decent life. U are not wrong. What Echart is saying if u focus too much on the end result the focus to execute the task could be diminished.
