I'm always going to slam the like button for Bent Knee!
As you should
Not sure if you've reacted to "Being Human" or "Battle Creek" but this band is insane
Yeah. Both of these tell emotionally shattering stories in their own way but holy hell their grasp on lyrical nuance in general is just something else. Takes some time to understand some of what they say though and some of it can be open to interpretation.
You both perfectly worded what I was thinking.
I have been checking your channel periodically for more Bent Knee reactions. Stoked to see another one. One of my favourite bands for sure.
Most spot on reaction to this song. Breathtaking
This live version moved me to tears when I first heard and saw it. Had loved the studio version for a while but experiencing this live version was taking it to an (even) higher level.
Your reaction makes me really happy (had to play it first thing in the morning after I woke up - about 2am your time - 8 here. I'm on summer vacation). Made my day 🥰
If you're a bit like me you might find that songs like these work perfectly fine for casual listening once you've got enough aquainted with/"used to" it. Works for me 😁
They really build quite a mood. Amazing perfomance!
Glad you came back to BK. I'd have loved to see a Battle Creek reaction but I'm sure you've gone right through their discography by now. This is not a band you can easily let rest!
As an alternative, I'd suggest taking a look at Bent Knee's guitarist Ben Levin's 'Freak Machine' live performance. Either the entire thing or just part 4 in particular but the whole thing is experimental and highly listenable and almost all of the BK band perform on this as well. But it's MUCH more experimental than BK.
My favorite song
i first knew about them through your video! i have not yet heard this song in particular before but your reaction is so thorough and finally you are emotional! hehe. thank you very much for checking out such incredible bands! (i also first checked out leprous through you and that was just a phenomenal band as well!)
Leprous are releasing a new song this Friday
And by the way bent knee did one tour with leprous
May I propose a listen to another soecial band: Madder Mortem (especially if you dig spectacular female vocals accompanied by daringly versatile and inventive music. They're Norwegian like Leprous btw)

Love it! This is such an amazing band and I will watch every reaction you put up of them. For a fun one, I'd recommend Bone Rage!
Dang...another song that left ya fairly speechless! Bent Knee are so great. Very eccentric. Love their complex ideas yet they’re still catchy and fun.
You wanted a release at the end...I think they delivered! Haha.
Definitely. Cutting all of those build ups short only increased the tension and raised the finale payoff. Exceptionally executed.
Opening made me think they were about to launch into Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks! Anyway, that was pretty incredible. It kinda reminds me of some of the very off-kilter covers that Aurora has done. Though she never gets this "extreme" she has a similar penchant for bringing these weird, haunting, emotional, and (in general) very different qualities to the songs. This is perhaps even more interesting because of all the build-ups and harmonic dissonance that bring a real skin-crawling darkness to the piece. If the original song is a melancholic ballad, this is closer to a demented ballad. Instead of the sadness of loss, this is more about the darkest psychosis that such loss can bring at its most extreme. Love how they finally paid off the build-up after all of the "red herrings" where the build-ups dropped into nothingness. Such a powerful ending. Just a phenomenal track all around. I guess I really need to explore Bent Knee in some depth.
Bent Knee were made for deep diving 😊
Damn. These guys are so talented.
hahaha loved the long pause before the commenting.
Sometimes I just gotta fully process something 😅
Yyyyyeeeeesssss love this one now you must react to their songs terror bird & bone rage & time deer
Goosebumps on this one.
That audio engineer (I guess) near laptop made some bold decisions about his appearance :)
This song gives me goosebumps on my goosebumps.
Could you react to Reset by Misery Signals? And if you have the time and inclination for a double song it flows right into the next track Homecoming perfectly. Very underrated album.
I saw these folks open for Dillinger on their farewell tour and they were great!
That sounds like a wild concert!
They're One of the best!! Try to listen how they reimagined Creep from Radiohead when they was very young, before their First album.
There’s that long pause again
The more we explore these wildly cathartic songs the more it'll happen 😁
Hey Brian. No one has done a reaction on the small band Gracchus and their song Fooled Again. They are a small band from Sweden I believe. English speaking though. Would love to see you react to them. They have like 5 monthly listeners on Pandora and I guess I'm one of them.
Switzerland (had to look it up since I'm from Sweden and hadn't heard of the name even. I'll check 'em up 😊)
I'll keep their name on a list on hidden bands.
@@CriticalReactions Awesome. They release a new song each month.
35000 monthly listeners on Spotify though...
It's real PLAY MISTY FOR ME territory. Completely mad.
3:20 - You need a buikd-up into something big at the end of the song.
Me - heh heh heh!
Liked it a lot until the final crescendo where it just got metronomic, shouty and frustrating to me. Not sure what about the final bit threw me off so much, because so much of what came before it was so excellent. I guess it feels to me like they tried to find a final, ultimate, level to the emotional intensity but somehow just missed and I was too disappointed not to feel betrayed by the failure it felt like to me.
I'd like a version of this without vocals.
I think I'm missing something here. Is she deliberately singing out of tune? Should I be on acid? "Breathtaking" says one commentator? Really? I couldn't be more underwhelmed.
Yeah it's very deliberate. If you check out their other songs you can get a better feel for her style. An amazing talent but the easiest/laziest way to explain is very "jazzy".
@@GeoffCano I don't think I'm inclined to check out any more. Not for me. Sorry.
@@jeannettesimpson9778 My favourite singer in the world - because of her voice skill and emotion. Very diverse band. You could very well dig other stuff if chance is given. This one is kinda special. For a great sample of her voice skills, try e.g. the song Terror Bird

@@progperljungman8218 I dig the music, but I'm still not into the vocals.
@@jeannettesimpson9778 fair enough 👍
