Born and Raised in Taiping. Planning to retire back to Taiping once I'm done with the working life. And I'm only 25 years old. Taiping will always be home no matter where I am.
Thanks for doing a wonderful piece on my hometown... my ex-lecturer, he's scottish, always call my town 'the cheapest town in Malaysia' due to the amount of food and other things available at a cheap price.
I guess that's the one thing many Malaysians complain about all the time - the muggy weather. When it gets cooler later in the afternoon and when there is a breeze, that's when we see it as ideal and would be outdoors all day. Just don't be outdoors for too long right after the rain stop or you'd be greeted by blood sucking mosquitoes that would enjoy feasting on you.
Welcome to my home town,Taiping. One of the most beautiful places in the world! A lot more hidden places that tourist do not know... With nice views and good food!
Plan to visit Taiping this year . Contacted, phoned Embassy of Malaysia 3 times to ask do we need Convid shot. No one answered . Must be under staff? Nelly .
I have been to Taiping many years ago and the latest in 2018 while on journey back to Kuantan (Pahang) from Penang (8 hours driving by car). I just stayed one night in Taiping. It is good place to visit and full of nature with the old buildings still exist but still taken care well. Unlike other places in Malaysia, many of old buildings especially the colonization era are simply neglected.
The Malaysian tourism industry should be hiring you guys. Really enjoyed this vlog. I've been to Malaysia many times & you captured the experience in a fun & interesting way.
You need to wake up early in Taiping because of very cool and thick mist in the morning. So many water falls, streams and pools around Bukit Larut such as Burmese and Austing pool.
Love the old abandoned house! Also nice to see how comfortable you are now with local life now... almost like the locals yourselves. Yes, the sleepy hamlet of Taiping used to be a retirement destination in the old days. Nice to see the pace of life is still leisurely. As always... Cheers, Ladies.
My first reaction seeing this i was like wow that's good and you guys shows that malaysia have lots of place that we can travel...although the weather is quiet hot lol but still i love my country....im here as a malaysian and i am from TAIPINGGG LOVE YOU GUYSSSSSS❤❤❤
I see you haven't experienced lot more activities in taiping. I happy for this video and thank you for reviewing my lovely city. Really wish you guys come back, i got a lot story about taiping for you to experience.
Taiping brings back memories. Once upon a time, I spent seven years in a boarding school in Kuala Kangsar, another laid back, historical town about 40 km to the south of Taiping. We often had school trips to visit its many attractions : Taiping Museum, Taiping Zoo, Taiping Lake Garden, and of course Maxwell Hill. A short footnote if I may on Maxwell Hill, Taiping (renamed Bukit Larut in 1980s, Bukit = Hill). It is named after Sir George Maxwell who was the British Resident of Perak in 1919-1920. Sir George also wrote the classic book "In Malay Forests" describing aspects of old Malaya that are unfamiliar now, such as a deer drive, a rogue elephant and catching crocodiles. Born in Malacca, he was the third generation of Maxwells in colonial public service in Malaya. His father a colonial scholar, while his grandfather Sir Peter Maxwell was the Supreme Court Judge in Penang.
Dear, first of all, thanks for introducing my hometown! :D Taiping is the wettest town in Malaysia, please remember to bring along your umbrella :) And besides, 12pm to 5pm is too hot to walk under the big bright sun. For local, we had already get used to it, but I still don't think it's a good idea to walk without umbrella. Besides, the high pitch sound comes from bugs. You can hear it in the morning near the trees around jungle. Quick tips for candol, we like to eat it with the ice. XD
Taiping is my wife's hometown. Known this town since 20 years ago. One thing is, the town hardly grow, hardly change. A lot of history and firsts such as oldest tree, oldest railroad etc. U can also visit Kuala Sepetang or Port Weld as u can see fishing village and charcoal factory. Try to eat famous foods here such as the popiah at the old market, mee udang, char kuey tiaw, ganja tea, Yong Tau Foo. All of them so cheap and nice. Enjoy
Taiping, the town that I still calling my second home. Lived there for 5 years. Missed that 'sleepy', no rush atmosphere. Missed the foods. Whenever I have chance, I still visiting the town, to my favorite food court.
You guys should DEFINITELY visit state of Perlis (the northern state of Peninsula Malaysia)! Especially during Songkran (13th -15th of April)! Go and celebrate Songkran at Wat Macchimaprasit or Suwankhiri in Jejawi/Kangar! Camping at Timah Tasoh is also a good idea to see the beauty of Perlis.. night there is beautiful, as you can stargazing (Major part of Perlis is free from light pollution at night, making Perlis, especially Timah Tasoh as one of the best place to stargazing especially during clear sky at night), and dawn/early morning view at the lake is also gorgeous as you can feel the cold air and watch the view of mist of the Nakawan range. Other attraction is Syed Alwi Mosque, Istana Arau (Arau Royal Palace), Arau Royal Gallery, Arau Royal Mosque, and Kuala Perlis. You can try the local signature dish like Laksa Kuala Perlis, seafood at Kuala Perlis and also Pulut Manga, if you are lucky enough you can try the Harum Manis Manggo where you cant find in any other state in Malaysia! I suggest you to take an ETS train from KL Sentral all the way to Arau Railway Station! You can stay at the Wooden Chalet D'Solo in Mata Ayer Kangar for a countryside stay!
Taiping - a city for retirees and oldies. I am Malaysian from Kedah but now residing and working n KL. Maybe when I get to be old, I will live in Taiping! Haha! But honestly, Taiping is a beautiful city surrounded by green hills/mountains and I think it has the best municipal gardens in Malaysia. And as you rightly point out, Taiping has many "firsts" in Malaysia.
Ah-mazinggg vlog editing skills is unbelievable drone shots are breathtaking and u scared the sheesh outta me when i saw that goast in the abandoned house your humour is insane so funny as always made my day ♡♡
Woww u guys finally at Taiping! Next time dont forget to try Mee Kicap serve with either soup or curry & Roti Kukus Sangkaya at Ilham Rasa Cafe. Its really good!
My Japanese friend just went to Taiping on business - his first time in Malaysia too. He enjoyed it but what he really raved about was GRAB and how it really helped him get around like going to a factory on the outskirts. Lol. He said he didn't have to worry about communication issues, the price, etc.
Maxwell Hill at night is just beautiful, the view of the lights from Taiping city is something to behold, however, it's just too expensive to stay overnight these days.
Hi, i was born in Kelantan, and then move to Perak and now Taping is my hometown. I love Kelantan and Perak. At the moment, I am working on my thesis about Taiping Lake Garden ☺ happy to see your vdeo 😉 subscribed ✔️

Similar to what we have in Kuching. I like to tear up my roti. Either teh o ice or ice lemon tea both are good compliments to Malaysian spicy food. Good content as usual.
Hey friend! Thanks so much for this comment. We really appreciate you supporting our videos 😇 Yes, Taiping is a little similar to Kuching, so peaceful and tranquil ☺️
You are both so sweet and the best buddies travellers I have seen on RUclips. Respectful of each other and most calming friends in your episodes. Your presentation is relax, easy going and real. I live nearby 18km away of Taiping and indeed it's underrated town. Plenty to see and experience. Best on your journeys.

Amazing video you guys produced. As a Malaysian, I have never set foot in Taiping and should be ashamed of myself. Hopefully, I'll make a trip there soon
Taiping is our end of year getaway for the past 7 years just to chill and enjoy the food. And from my observation it is not frequented by most foreign tourists/travellers. But it is a top holiday spot among us Malaysians. And to think it is less than 1 hour's drive from Penang.

so many great things to experience if you stay overnight on the Maxwell hill, the foggy air, stargazing, cute leeches bites, etc.... you guys should do it next time XD
your vlogs always makes me hungry! and yes to milo ais and teh o ais limau. i alternate between these two drinks... and 100 plus on really hot days. i use "mee-Lo" or "my-lo" interchangeably depending on the place and language/dialect used. "My-lo" is more anglicized so I would use it when speaking English and "Mee-Lo" at a Mamak or at the Chinese coffee shop when ordering Milo Ping
