I feel like Jenn gives herself a lot of crap about not being a great cook. But, her knife skills are on point and all of her cooking looks great. She shouldn't be so hard on herself. She always does a great job.
I love that you didn't realize the cookie tray was words and not individual letters! It really made day, I laughed out loud and my husband and kids think I'm crazy! That's very much something I would do!
Rule of thumb; Mise en Place! Always prep before starting your recipe. Also, if you what to pickle your onions for next time, try rice wine vinegar, regular vinegar, lime juice, a bit of oil, cilantro and salt.
love the new shelf over the stove .My nephew makes those with real pallets and the puts notches in the bottle for wine glasses and then wine bottles in the top !!
Also, when you're zesting the lemon, an even easier way is to use one of those microplane zesters. They make your zest very fine, like grated cheese, which lends a beautiful subtle brightness to your dish.
I just started watching your videos and I'm really starting to enjoy them and trying to watch them daily. I hope you guys make more great videos! PS. You guys should go to Knott's Berry Farm, it's really fun over there!
Oh, Jenn... I completely empathize with you. I'd never been much of a cook, and avoided it whenever possible. A few years ago, due to a relationship I had started, I was tired of being thought of as a girl who was a pretty bad cook. So, I taught myself and have never looked back. I now LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cooking. The best part is taking recipes, tweaking them, and making them even more awesome with your creative ideas. I am an artistic person by nature, and I found that cooking is a true art form. Making something beautiful from scratch that tastes amazing, and then presenting it to the people you love, is such a high. :-D
I did blue apron for a good half a year, and it does take a while to cook. But the food is always so good! It made me really enjoy cooking more and trying different things. I don't get the boxes anymore, but I look up a lot of their recipes for my dinners now. It totally keeps us from going out to eat bc I can totally cook amazing dinners myself! And man those cookies look sooo good! Glad your back to your daily vlogs!
Jenn, all the meals you make always look Delicious. You 2 are just the cutest couple ever. Always enjoy ever vlog long or short. Hope you both have a great night n Weekend too
I feel like I cook all day long. But, I don't use mixes or boxes so it takes a lot of time. But it's worth it! Keep it up Jenn! As you get used to cooking from scratch it will get easier.
Great time lapse and capture of the sunset colors! FYI, re rice...1.5 to 2 times liquid to rice ratio for white rice. Other rice may need more or less liquid. Google time! The meal looked great but I was wondering if the 'sauce' was supposed to be made in the pan? Glad you are discovering new cooking methods and foods you may normally never try!
Hey Jen! You should check out Michaels craft stores or other craft stores! A lot of times they have certain home decorations on sale /clearance. Sometimes it can be hit or miss, but I just bought a really cute wooden beach sign that I can hang stuff on for $9 and it was originally $30! :)
I do this alot....the prep has become so easy...just takes practice. You keep cooking and you will find shortcuts to prepping meals. I have discovered jars of chopped garlic in olive oil at the grocery store, bread crumbs already crushed, etc. There are lots of things...when it comes to recipes calling for softened butter, don't put it in the microwave!!! It separates and doesn't work well at all. How did the silicone work for the cookies? I have been wanting to try them but so far, I haven't!!!
I'm not too good at cooking either. I really don't know my way around spices and different ways of cooking things. I know just enough to make it done (not raw or squishy), and make it taste decent. I lived alone for 4 months before my boyfriend moved out to FL with me (he is an EXCELLENT cook) and I lived off of salt & pepper chicken with rice or mashed potatoes almost every week lol so I'm glad he's here to teach me a few things! x)
That looks delicious! When I get my hello fresh deliveries I try and read all the directions first, so when I go to make each recipe, I sort of have a better idea of what I'm doing. Hope that helps you Jenn!
Jenn with the shelf where you wanted to put it next to the stove. .....How about putting a piece of wood to even out the step where the pipes come down the wall. It would make it easier to attach
I think the cooking part is hard for you because like you said your used to cooking hot dogs and pasta but it came amazing, and have seen the ads and is making me try this.
You can find great decorating tips & tricks on Pinterest. But my fav is a link I follow on FB which fans of "The Fixer Upper" show on HGTV makes suggestions and show off their wonderful DIY projects & furniture, decor style with others. Lots of great ideas. I might suggest this Fresh Box thing to a friend of mine, She recently lost her husband and this would let her have good food without going to the store for all the items.
Thank you guys for your wonderful videos! You make make my day so much better! Also my husband and I signed up for HelloFresh here in The Netherlands and so far we love it!
You can never have too much sour cream. lol Great Job Jenn. Whenever doing a new recipe it is can take longer just to get it straight in your head too. You would think they would be a little more specific on the amounts. But I can tell you are very methodical on your food prep. You had that sliced Onion all standing up together AFTER. Work on your chopping speed. Jamie Oliver and other big names might have some videos out there on how to cut, slice, dice, chop quicker but safe too. You might want to change to a shorter knife like a Santuko. It is shorter and easier to Control. That LONG slicing knife can slow you down a bit. Plus keeping knives super sharp with an electric sharpener on a "monthly" basis and then using a honing steel on a "Daily" basis will help you slice and dice quicker.
Awe I wanted to see how the cookies turned out. Hello fresh is good great flavor but is a lot of work for not a lot of food, I was always still hungry after.
Jen your food looked delicious! So did the cookies. You know what it may take you longer to prepare than it says because we are not professionals but at least it's a real balanced meal.
I need to send you a wooden spoon! The plastic spatula isn't good on heat! :) We have a box to send you... I will find a wooden spoon! Thanks for all your awesome videos!
you should youtube some of his shows. he has a "meals in 30 mins" one. He is very much into healthy good food. And got the Government to change what kids were fed for school meals. And he was a big campaigner for the new "sugar tax"
I've met Kayleigh about 5-6 times now. I volunteer for a lot of the cons in the Miami area & she always has her booth at them! :D I was gonna buy a charmed necklace from her and I didn't have the time to get to her before she left the last day! Oh well! I'm sure I'll see her next con! :D
With Jamie's meals they always take longer than he says they take , he has shows called 30 min meals and 15 min meals too , and the meals he make on those can take a lot longer as the time noted only takes in to consideration the cooking time and not the prep time
Of all the videos you guys have made with the delivered meal kits, I would probably love about 90% of them, but my husband would only eat (eat as in "try") maybe 10% of them - too many vegetables and too much variety of things he's never had before. I guess it would take an open mind & willingness to experiment with dishes you may or may not like. However, we both enjoy cooking
Red onions are actually purple in color with a tinge of red. It drives me crazy how some foods are misnamed. Just look at eggplant. Sure it's a plant, but it doesn't look anything like an egg. I know I read the story of how it got it's name somewhere, but I don't remember it. I'd have to look it up again.
I think because you buy a lot of meals where even though the stuff has to be cooked all the preperation has been done for you, you are finding it hard. A good meal does take an hour to cook.
I'm a terrible cook but personally I found Hello fresh really easy to follow but I think it all depends on the recipes you get think you got some super hard recipes.
Jenn, judging from your knife skills you're a better cook than you think. Also, using your hand to separate the seeds from the juice is the way to go. Try this website for those pesky measurements you're not familiar with onlineconversion.com. Onlineconversion will convert just about any measurement. Milliliters to teaspoon/tablespoons etc. are in the volume section. Plus there's temperature, weight, and many, many more conversions can be done there, too.
I will say I enjoy the Hello Fresh food, however I do not like the process. We enjoy the process of Blue Apron. But I will say that the food is amazing from both boxes. But Blue Apron explains things so much more and it's way "easier". Just my thought
I feel like Jenn gives herself a lot of crap about not being a great cook. But, her knife skills are on point and all of her cooking looks great. She shouldn't be so hard on herself. She always does a great job.

I love to cook I want that Asa job when I'm older wish me luck

Jenn - Your "Fast-Mo" sequence of "chopping" reminded me of something Jamie Sommers (The Bionic Woman) would do.
Great time lapse and capture of the sunset colors! FYI, re rice...1.5 to 2 times liquid to rice ratio for white rice. Other rice may need more or less liquid. Google time! That food looks absolutly delicious Tim and Jen and the time lapse was awesome as well my friends.
That looked yummy. I've eyed that shelf at Target, forever! Shelf styling is so fun and ADDICTIVE. You're hooked! Lol!
Hey Jen! You should check out Michaels craft stores or other craft stores! A lot of times they have certain home decorations on sale /clearance. Sometimes it can be hit or miss, but I just bought a really cute wooden beach sign that I can hang stuff on for $9 and it was originally $30! :)
Just a tip with rice. White rice is 2 parts water to 1 part rice, brown rice is 3 parts water to 1 part rice.
You can immediately tell when Tim wakes up from his nap and he still needs to close out the video, I find it so funny hes so out of it lol
Dish looked great! That pickle recipe works really well with fresh cucumber too.
10 gold stars for Jenn. Kudos on pulling this recipe together!
Thanks guys. I am glad you are trying new food.

looks good ... just FYI, when cooking rice, it's always 2 parts water to 1 part rice
We love Hello Fresh! We've had it for awhile now and have never disliked anything.
Jenn with the shelf where you wanted to put it next to the stove. .....How about putting a piece of wood to even out the step where the pipes come down the wall. It would make it easier to attach

11:27 Such colorful books on the bookshelf behind you. I do like pastels :)
MoonstonePearl21 it looks like the Simpsons box sets to me! Haha
Blue apron is a great company. Great recipes. VERY easy instructions and EVERYTHING is included in the package.
You can find great decorating tips & tricks on Pinterest. Jamie is my hero, great recipes from the UK's finest. The food looked great Jen.
There are some other food programs you can try too. Blue Apron. ...Peach Dish...They are very similar to this but seem to have easier instructions.
Love your vlogs! They brighten up my day!
Thank you guys for your wonderful videos! You make make my day so much better! Also my husband and I signed up for HelloFresh here in The Netherlands and so far we love it!
I'm loving the cooking! Great work guys!
MMMM. M&M cookies I love those! I've also never seen a tray like that before.
Tim always says that your cooking is on fleek I want to eat your food
"Yeah" for trying new food!
Man I wanted to see how the cookies came out lol
Me too! Lol

The pool looks great!
Tim always says that your cooking is on fleek I want to eat with you guys
Lol, prep everything quick before Tim gets home and gets in your way!
Tim and Jen, my birthday is coming up this July on the 22nd and i really hoped i could see you in universal because im going for a few nights.
Jenn, I think you're going to learn a lot about cooking through this program. Like you said, pickling onions. Keep it up!
Awe I wanted to see how the cookies turned out. Hello fresh is good great flavor but is a lot of work for not a lot of food, I was always still hungry after.
That looks so good, wow. Kind of want this box now, too.
Jenn, you should check out some thrift stores, estate/yard sales, etc for some cool stuff for your house!
Jen your food looked delicious! So did the cookies. You know what it may take you longer to prepare than it says because we are not professionals but at least it's a real balanced meal.
It does kill some time though and it's good you get hand eye coordination and all that so its good
"I'm not fancy, if you don't know I'm surprised" 😂
Target has great home things. I have to restrain myself when I go there
I always use my pan liners now. Makes cleaning pans easier:)
I need to send you a wooden spoon! The plastic spatula isn't good on heat! :) We have a box to send you... I will find a wooden spoon! Thanks for all your awesome videos!

That was really interesting. I would love to try a pickled onion. All those food images looked so goooood :)!
Happy....THURSDAY*!
You and me both Jenn. I need shelves, because I have a lot of stuff I could use them for.
Leave us hanging on the cookies????? Lol

The food looked so good! And now I think I might wanna try it lol.
i miss back in these days when Tim used to just film the sky and marvel at the colors. 😍😍
Have a good day!
Harry Potter books!!!!! Yay!!!
butter, Butter, BUTTER!
The food looks great. I would like to try Hello fresh as well, but am a bit afraid that i can not skip a day as your vegetables will go bad.
I liked your red hair! Who say it has to be in a kitchen?!! You could prob put Disney stuff and hang figures. Thinnk outside the box!
good video guys - this inspired me to order a recipe box from Abel and Cole here in the UK xx
Hi guys I'm going to Disney next May and would like to know which is the best camera to get for video 😎
With Jamie's meals they always take longer than he says they take , he has shows called 30 min meals and 15 min meals too , and the meals he make on those can take a lot longer as the time noted only takes in to consideration the cooking time and not the prep time

Will you guys be at universal on July 5? Pleeaassee I want to meet you so bad 😫
You should totally add egg whites t your breakfast for more volume and less cholesterol
the food is looking good
Good healthy eating yum...

looks great!!
That definitely made me hungry!
when your cooking you should attach the go pro to your head
JEN-usually the rule of thumb is 2c of water per 1c of rice
Great video!
I'm a terrible cook but personally I found Hello fresh really easy to follow but I think it all depends on the recipes you get think you got some super hard recipes.
Waaaaait! Where are the cookies??!!!
Is your stove clock military time?
They call him the naked chef cause he doesnt make things fancy just basic but this looked super complicated hahaha

Jenn...stop being so hard on yourself. Your cooking videos are my favorites.
What was the chopping music?
I will say I enjoy the Hello Fresh food, however I do not like the process. We enjoy the process of Blue Apron. But I will say that the food is amazing from both boxes. But Blue Apron explains things so much more and it's way "easier". Just my thought
What about the cookies? 😁
looks good .
