Hi Richard I work for Stockdale at Scarborough. We have been loading spuds out of Scotland and it’s bloody hart braking up there with the amount of rain they have had.

Hi Richard I agree totally with your every word, when my dad was on the farm every year at this time they dug ditches out by hand we didn't get floods like we are getting.
As for wildlife all we are doing is drowning them
    Regards

Its about time the EA were held accountable where flooding is worsened by their lack of intervention. As soon as they are forced to pay you guys compensation the quicker you will see an improvement. Another bloody department that is not fit for purpose as it stands.

You are so right, young man, I wish other people would listen to you i've been saying this for months, walk the streams and the ditches out like the use too, we wouldn't have half the trouble we've got

I agree your comments about EA. Down here in Worcestershire they spend millions putting in movable flood barriers then don't get them erected in time, consequently houses flooded. I liked your comparison with tea pot😂

  • @MalcTyler

Hi Richard as i have said before the e a wont to hold up the water so it floods on your land instead of building barriers clean the rivers if they flow faster they stay clean longer the Somerset levels haven't flooded since they cleaned it out well bgr me

I really agree with your thoughts when you are battling such weather and also having to deal with the nonsense from official bodies. What use is the EA? It is not fit for purpose; it doesn't stop raw sewage being poured into rivers by water companies, it doesn't stop development on floodplains and hard surfaces in urban areas causing flash-flooding. Years ago farm workers would have spent half the winter ditching and clearing culverts, it's obvious water courses need to be maintained. But I think bodies such as the EA are quite sinister as their agenda is that farmland is expendable and haven't got a clue about the real world. Thank you for the great videos, keep up the good work and good luck.

Great video Richard taking the bull by the balls and doing something to get water flowing. Digging grips into field lve done many times in the past. Surprising how much water can be removed over 24 hours from fields

Surely the drainage ditches are there to drain water . The fact that any wildlife has taken up residence in the ditches shouldn't have any bearing whatsoever.
EA more concerned with keeping the green lot happy than looking after you farmer.

Same here in Ireland , the EPA went up along a river which runs through one of our farms and they had a brand new digger with a long reach boom which the driver told me cost €300,000 and all they done was pulled a few reeds off and put them up on the bank and it took them almost a week to do what I could do in a day 😡 a crowd of clowns on big wages

Don’t understand why they don’t pay local farmers to maintain the water ways. Give them clear guidelines around when to clean, what they can removed etc.
Farmers best places to look after this.
