They just weren't advertising it because SK media had a ban on songs about the tragedy back then so every artist doing a song on the topic had to be smart about it, so they went with the first part of the story (notice the "Snowpiercer" references are already in the lyrics). The video was done so long after the tragedy because that was the time when the parents of the victims were protesting because they weren't getting any justice and the Yellow Ribbon Campain was getting stronger. PS. I'm honestly curious how much of the blacklisting was due to the crappy government and how much was from JYP's pull on the media since his wife's family was one of the reasons that the tragedy even happened.

Enjoyed your reaction! Your interpretation is spot on. Just want to say this song gets pigeon holed into being about the Sewol Ferry accident. I love that it brings awareness of that tragedy (and the explanation of that accident is really worth watching) but I would like to say that in multiple interviews and articles RM and Suga have both stated it isn't about a specific event. Suga wrote his part about a dear friend he lost. RM wrote it about missing those friends from youth he had to leave behind as he pursued his dreams. It is about missing those we love and longing for the time we can be reunited. They even sang it as one of the last songs to ARMY at their free Busan concert the day before they announced they were leaving for the military. Still, the cool thing about music and art is it can be interpreted by everyone the way they need and I am thankful this song brings comfort to so many from that tragedy and others who have lost loves and friendships they aren't able to be with for a time. I just mention it because the Ferry incident was the only narrative when I encountered the song and I could never make it quite fit the vibe I got from the song. Once I learned it was written 3 years later and wasn't intended to be about that, the song really hit me even better for me. Hope your day is great.💜

A great video to watch to explain this video is the MV explanation video of all the little hints, but before the video to watch without having to read a lot of subs is by Rotten Mango, Stephanie is an excellent story teller you really need to watch to get the meaning of why this song is the Queen, this song has never left the charts since it debuted, it also reached #1 again when all the boys had enlisted in the military, Italian army does one to, but it’s spoken in Italian with English subs
