The EU version (same body but different mounting plates) supports multipoint locks that are common in Europe and UK and becoming more common elsewhere in newer house builds (multipoint == more secure). These are not easily converted to the "other locks that replace everything" mentioned in the video. This is because multipoint door locks have a more complex mechanism and (generally) require you lifting the handle to engage the 3+ lock points in the door frame, before it can then be "locked". The SwitchBot pro works really well for these locks and its bulk is partly due to needing a decent amount of torque to unlock these more secure doors. I've just installed one and its a hit with the family. It is also great value compared to the other multipoint-supporting smart locks on the market right now.

I heard the quality felt cheap which is why I went with the Yale Assure Lock 2 with HomeKey. But I actually found HomeKey support unstable so I’m currently happy with the SwitchBot lock.
