- Etson has been homeless for a few years. We met Etson in Barking begging outside some shops. As we were parked up in the car we saw some police officers speaking to Etson and telling him that it is a criminal offence to beg on the street and for him to leave the area. Etson replied by saying he needs to beg to make money to buy food. He suggested to the officer that if he wants to help then he can buy Etson some food and then he can leave and go home. The officer refused.
We caught up with Etson afterwards and spoke to him at length to find out about his story. We also bought him a tasty meal from Nando's and a mobile phone so he can speak to his daughter.

Homelessness is a growing issue for the UK with more than 300,000 people living on the streets. Many of these people don't even make it onto the official figures.
The Unseen is an organisation we set up to give Homeless people a platform to have their stories and their struggles heard. We also want everyday people to have an opportunity to understand what leads a person into being Homeless. We at the The Unseen believe that everybody has a responsibility to help the unfortunate.
We want employers and regular people to support the homeless towards getting back into work and off the streets.
We hope their stories can touch the hearts of many.
Living on the street is no way to live.

I cannot get this guy out of my head. He is a sweet family man who came to the UK to find a future, a life. I would have taken him home, showered him, fed him, given him fresh clothes and a warm bed. What is the matter with people, where is compassion, love, kindness. This story has profoundly affected me. God bless him.

Theres always a reason why someone is homeless. They all aint all alcoholics or drug addicts. Well done to the people that helped this young man
Even for drug addicts or alcoholics, there's probably a reason that they take drugs, say out of emotional baggage. So many people suffer from loneliness, especiallly if they have no family or parents that either died or they were on drugs themselves or were abusive.

God uses our hands and resources to help each other...after all everything belongs to The Universe/ GOD,.each one reach one and make the love of God flow upon the earth.
I became homeless for 5 years at 46 years old. I was sitting on the street like this man because I felt hopeless.
However, thanks to the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles, I made it through. They took care of all my needs for five years. I got several temp jobs and finally was able to return to the federal government at 52 years old.
There is help. God took care of me through the most challenging time of my life.
Stay away from drugs and alcohol and if you can from medication and anti depression medicine.
Have your mind untouched and in time, God will open new doors.

I know this guy personally I helped him a lot when I used to live in Ilford and all what he’s saying is true he’s a very honest man who suffered a lot , I wish if I can have he’s number and help him out as I moved out from Ilford where he used to stay .

We are the ones to step up and help. I carry a 40 pack of cold bottled water in a small $15 Walmart cooler on the floor behind my passenger seat. So if I’m at a stop light or wherever I can just give a cold bottle of water or bag of apples or oranges and give piece of fruit. Every little bit helps. And we are the help God sends to be His arms and feet with what little we have. Something to consider

It was all part of the plan and Jesus Himself was aware (which is why He prayed that if God was willing, to find a different way to save humanity because He knew that it would be painful and tough). It was all part of the plan for Jesus to receive what we should've received so that we could be united with God again. And anyways He was compensated by being glorified and seated at the right hand of the Father so it's all good!

His nature is revealed when he says it was a Police "mistake", even after everything he has experienced.

Sorry to say, but this is how police treat all homeless per order of some stuffed shirt mayors wanting the trash picked up. I work with the mentally ill and see this daily in my work. What's more disgusting are those working with mental illness who mistreat these people just like everyone else. Their lives matter regardless of race.

This man was a victim of mistaken identity by the police. They should have been made responsible to restore him to his former life. There are many people on the streets for injustices just like this. This got me to tears , I really don´t have much to give but if there is anyone out there who can help the man get off the streets, help him build his life, find out about his qualifications and what he can do or learn. In as much as he couldn´t say what he really wanted I feel like indirectly he is asking for an opportunity / job. I hope and pray that someone finds it in their heart to give Etson an opportunity. @@TheUnseenHomeless Yeah it needs an Employment Agency like this to help Etson. He wants to work to support his daughter and maybe even get back with his ex once he feels he has his dignity restored. It needs a multi-agency approach for cases like this.

What I've learned over the years about homeless is that they just wanna have a decent conversation with normal people. They want people to hear their side of the story. I had a conversation with a homeless man who really touch my heart. Bonus, don't ever judge a person cuz you're not in the same situation as them. Good Bless you all.

im homeless right now because my wife has bpd. Im the breadwinner and she kicked me out because she think she can get ahead without me by claiming disability so she ditch me even though I been by her side when she didnt have nothing I gave her the world her and her kids kick me out a dsy after i pay rent and spent my last buying her and her kids clothes for the summer and this is how she repay me smh.

Same situation as you brother, but was thankful to have my parents here helping supporting me through my case , unfortunately I know others don’t have that support like what I have, I was a all league soccer and football player, a humble caring individual, did one simple stupid mistake that change my life, lost my job, my 8 year relationship. Yet never had a criminal history for 27 years and after the mistake I made I’m still trying to get the pieces of my life back.
One very important thing this gentleman mention. Everyone in the system has never been in that situation, theirs never been a day we’re they struggle to find help , find food, and find a place to sleep, because if they knew how it was, no one would be on the streets!

X Leap, when people are in this position sometimes our mind just isn't clear. And I say OUR because I've been in these shoes. And like him, I was not a happy camper. We are frustrated and depressed. I have compassion for people that go through this. No matter what put them in it. Meaning drug, alcohol, gambling and etcetera. Everyone has a story. I'm glad he knows and acknowledged God. And that he has faith. May God Almighty touch him and his family in a mighty and special way.
