Me and my dad got to see the Pat Metheny Unity Band during their 2012 tour, we sat in the middle of the front row and got to see these guys play this epic track which was a lot longer than the album version. It started out as a free improvisation with the guitar, bass clarinet, bowed arco bass melody and scrapped cymbals which was followed up by a full band performance which really captured the spirit of PMG & the minimalist approach of Steve Reich. It was an amazing build up that featured burning solos from the man himself on guitar synth and Chris Potter on tenor saxophone while the rhythm section of Antonio Sanchez & Ben Williams were cooking up a storm with the Orchestrion. For my money, one of the best Pat Metheny live concerts i have ever been to
No bass, that's right. Weird. I can only imagine what a song like this one would sound like with Mr. Pastorious on fretless bass. I like chord changes, but a tune like this one sounds too static. There should be more movement.

I had a similar experience I left with my brain melted and was truly wowed by this live performance
Kind of sounds like "Improvisation #2" off of the "The Orchestrion Project" Blu-Ray..
It’s definitely woven into this recording
If not miss labeled haha

Someone didn’t turn on the bass.
