I know more then one couple who actually started their relationship in 2010 like me and my partner.
Funny enough even in 2001 was also a time when I had felt same urge. SO they are both 2 and 1: moon and sun.
I am a millennial, and I was born and raised by a mother that never ever wanted to marry and I grew up without a father.

After being subject to abuse in my family and at work, I am not signing up for any more abuse willingly. I want to be married and want a partnership. Things change. It gets better before it gets worse. I think younger generations are exposed to more opinions and "honesty" and have more control over their decisions without the pressure. I still think marriage is a wonderful contribution to humanity and societies when done correctly. We are just scratching the surface of what right looks like. The same for having children, lots of people are saying no children. If I didnt marry or have children I wouldnt have evolved. That was my path, we all have a path.

The truth is we're not living in 4000BC any longer and the actual institution of marriage was created historically to ensure the lineage was identifiable. Then add to that, titles, wealth etc. It wasn't about love. It was about economical reasons. And since women at the time were completely enslaved, they had no choice. Now, they do. (I'm also from last century and NEVER wanted to get married... what for? I could have a child out of wedlock and live with the father which is what we did. Most of my friends have assets and kids together and aren't married)...

This is a global problem. It is the same in my country as well. I'm 39 years old and never married, don't think I ever will. If you expect woman to do all the chores, take care of the child, clean the house, cook and also work full time, you must be out of your mind. That was your mom back in the day without the working part.... Women have woken up. But since attractive people are too busy either having fun or working to make a living, their genes will slowly disappear from the gene pool so increasingly there will be a larger percentage of the population that won’t be able to attract anyone.

The reason why people still got married at all in the last 100 years, is because of religious belief and nationalism that are hold overs from the age of ‘king and country’. In fact if there comes a time when AI can replace human workers in absolutely all industries, then human bodies, being fragile and prone to irreparable damages, will also have no place in the economy.
