I love your teaching style. I searched dozen of other RUclips channels on learning AutoCAD and they all put me to sleep. Your tutorial held my attention and made me laugh. A million thanks for making this!
I like how you teach and explain everything. Some of the folks that try to teach AutoCAD, either talk too fast, don't explain what they did, or you just can't understand their harsh accent. Thank you!
Just Starting my own Drafting and Design Co. on Cape Cod, MA. Ive been a land surveyor for almost 20years off and on with my boss @ EAS Survey Inc. I took CAD a while back and Im glad to refresh now that I am starting up my own company so I can survey during the day and draw at night. THANK YOU for doing these and I hope you continue with some Land Surveying and Title V Septic System Design related drafting~ Thank You!
Thanks a million, Tim. You're tutorials are really helpful for a mature age student learning Autocad basics before beginning an Interior Architecture degree.
This video is great! I searched a few on youtube, but nothing as good and structured as your video. It is a pleasure to learn step by step with clear explanations, no fancy tech wording. You are very funny too. Thank you!
This reminds me about those days when I was a first year student, doing mechanical engineering. We used to do those things manually, using T-square, bunch of rulers, several kids of pencils (HB, 2H, 4H, etc.), some protractors, flexicurves, you name them. Man, was that stuff not demanding, leave alone being time consuming, and sometimes discouraging!. All thanks to technology, now all I need is a laptop, and within 30min, I'm done with a fairly challenging drawing.
This made learning the basics very easy! Just remember to pause and do each step that Tim does, and you'll have the hang of it in no time. Don't watch the video straight through! :)
Thank you very much for the video! I got the trial of this program and I have no one to help walk me through it. I am happy you took the time to make it. I have a project that I am making and the company wanted drafts on AutoCAD. When I downloaded it and opened the program all I seen was my project going down the drain. I plan to keep your videos open while I learn the program. Again thank you.
you know why your tutorials are really good for beginers and interesting to learn, because you walk through like a beginner with advance knowledge. At 34.53 when you were thinking how to do it, and you tried few steps and sort it out, thats really good thing, I don't find those human interaction/thinking part in other tutorials. its really natural, and proamature ( proamature: professionals act like amature to make amature feel like pro) thank you . you deserver thumbs up
I actually learned some stuff that I never knew - lines: construction, center, hidden. Also, I learned how to be more efficient in drawing. In spite of the dog and the distractions, I still think that this is a very good video/lesson. I've tried Solidworks Draft Sight but it gave me the desire to learn AutoCad...which is what everyone uses.
Dear Tim I am just starting out taking a AUTO CAD class thanks for posting and sharing your knowledge ! Thus far you have been a great help and saved me time ! Please keep it up Respectfully Charlie N
If you have the dollars to spare - you can always buy us a beer. Any beer donations appreciated. (Do not buy me a beer if you are a poor student!) www.paypal.me/buytimmyabeer
Thanks for the tutorial found it really interesting. Couple of prolems I got stuck with and might help people out were 1) Adding the Hidden Line. My Hidden line looked continuous because the scale was too big. Took me a while to figure out that I needed to change 'Line Type Scale'. Changed it from 1 to 0.05. Maybe this is because I'm working in Metric, but I am set to acadiso. Maybe its because i'm using Mac. Who knows?? 2) My Dimension text was huge. Similar problem. Solved it by going into Dimension Style Manager - Modify, clicking on 'Fit' tab and I changing 'Use overall scale of' from 1 to 0.1 Maybe there are better ways to solve these problems, happy to be corrected. Cheers
Thanks for sharing. Extremely helpful as a first time user. Will continue to do the other tutorials you've created. Will continue to follow. Hope the dog didn't eat your house. All the best. FYI. Also in Baltimore area.
You’re amazing! I can’t believe how much I learned from tNice tutorials video. My softs just got 10 tis better after watcNice tutorialng tNice tutorials!
Where were you last year when I was trying to learn this stuff?! I've watched all of your Solidworks videos and it's great to see you back at making videos!
Excellent training video. Good explanation for a complete novice like me. Just a bit quick with the cursor when showing where info comes from. Thanks Tim
Thank you! This was very helpful. There was some hunting and pecking to find out how things are done in v2018 as this appears to be a prior version. All of that actually helped with getting to know the program.
Hello dear tim, I recently started to learn SolidWorks with your tutorials and I feel like an obligation to myself to thank you deeply for the great explanations. Everything is fully explained and the tutorial is not boring at all. by the way im a mechanical engineering student (Bs.c). Mainly trying to master all the required softwares in this field, such as Solidworks, Ansys, Abaqus, Matlab etc. There is only one thing I would like to ask for and that is since I am not a student of yours, is it still possible to get the Homeworks of each episode ? because it is a pain to pause the film and go backward and forward to get all the scales in one screen, if you know what I mean. Thank you dear tim, I really would like to learn more and more about mechanical engineering from you and like to keep In touch. Yours sincerely, Emad
Thanks for your tutorial. Very useful. Completely new to AutoCAD. Just started watching some videos to draw a simple drawing. Interestingly, you mention Mongolia several times, and I am from Mongolia :). Do you have any connection with Mongolia?
Thank you Tim. But I'm curious why you mentioned Mongolia so much? Do you know where it is? Mongolia was unofficially controlled by Soviet Union for a long time after been separated from China in early 20th century. Their tiny industrial system is mostly about mining and uses Soviet standards. In recent years, as Chinese economic influence grows rapidly there, GB (Chinese standard) is becoming more popular now.
Great videos, I have a question when you are talking about choosing "acad" instead of "cadiso", I'm in engineering school and we have been using centimeter, meters, kilo, etc. since start school, now at the time when it comes to a job after graduation or whatever, do you use inches or centimeter? Side note: I live in the USA. I just want to know which way will be ideal to learn. Thanks.
Great Tutorial Tim :) I have recently picked up on Autocad and am now looking to start doing small jobs in Upwork to gain more professional experience. But I feel stuck on how to discuss the details of the project (like what are the basic questions you should always have in mind? and more importantly, how do I present the final project to the client? any suggestions? maybe this could be an idea for a tutorial :)
This is exactly what I was looking for. Brilliant Tim thanks. BTW I think you have proved that teachers are like actors. They should never work with dogs or children! I’m guessing Cork. Oh yeah blow you’re feckin nose before you start.
Tim, thanks for the videos. I’ve downloaded a 30 day free version of autoCAD and these videos are great for a refresher course. I just have one problem, my line will not offset when I use the command and put in a distance. Is there something in my settings I need to change?

So far the only tutorial I've seen that takes it slow and doesn't require prior experience to soft design.
Tim, I have learned more from your video in 58 minutes, than in my CADCAM course in the past 3 months.
Imma binge watch the rest. Cheers, mate!
you are the best youtube Autocad tutor that i have ever came across.
thanks very much for your explanation.

Man, you have just taught me stuff that I couldn't understand in 2 lectures. Truly appreicated!
Despite being a tutorial, still a good video for entertainment value. Keep the dog, he's funny!
Thanks. As a pre Autocad user (it was called CADD back in 1990s) I needed the refresher course. Made learning fun again.

rly good EDU. Step by step.
I like him too.
how do you add a sample in that you have on your mac already
thank you so much for this info, it has helped me immensely!!!!
Hi, Thanks for the tutorial. My hidden lines appear continous in the model space but dashed in layout space. How can I solve this?
Increase LTSCALE.
I'm a little late to the party, and I hope I'm not repeating what anyone else has said already. But, instead of printing out the picture of the object you want to reference, could you bring the picture into cad and model it that way? I do that all the time in Maya when I need all the views of an object.
Great vid!

that's 45° so you can just go (3.50 - 2.50) or 1 to left then 1 to the right
Hi Tim, I am a beginner in CAD and I have this problem in Autocad 2007...and I think maybe you can help me : when I create tangents, for example a line tangent to a circle ( or a circle tang to other two circle with command ttr ), apparently it is a point of tang, but if you zoom the drawing, the two parts ( line and circle ) don't touch, it's a distance between them. It is normal that ? And if not, how can I fix it ?
just type (regen) to clarify that area. however, no need to check that, you can say it is a little mistake in AutoCAD. if you see the tangent point, you are right. However, the examples shown are few. If you want to see more solved examples, please take the time to watch this: ruclips.net/video/xdZqsodhsBU/видео.html and I am going to upload the remaining course
