Gawd, her in that resplendent purple eye make up. All her looks this year were straight up SICK fashion slays. This year wasn’t the typical pretty Marc Bouwer gowns (like the ‘94 AMA’s)…this year was straight up old-skol European design houses. The purple look, that black number for the show (I don’t usually do a 45 min show….🤣🤣🤣), the costume at the Grammys & the change into the pink Ungaro. Her vocals right there w/Natalie….I mean DAYUMMMMMMM! Nobody, not nobody could keep up with this woman. When she sang your song, it was hers. Further proof she never ‘peaked’. She evolved but never, ever ‘peaked’. And can we get a shout out for the Mayan Club….throwback to the Queen Of the Night scene from The Bodyguard.
And I 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Rosie’s roast. That’s EXACTLY what the comedians are there for at these award shows. Oscars, Grammy’s, Golden Globes….these shows are packed to the gills with the most famous, beautiful, successful, talented, powerful people on Earth. They can sit quietly for 2 to 4 hours and get some jokes at their expense. That’s the point. Rosie, Chris Rock, Rucky Gervais, Whoopi, etc….never change. ‘…and I love ya’
I’m glad they finally found this clip. And I would actually argue the other way. Spare all the documentaries and tributes bc this wasn’t just a Whitney roast, Rosie was obnoxiously on Whitney ALL night. But it was Whitney that caught heat and scrutiny (if you see her lift her fist…it was rumored that Whitney flipped Rosie off. The next day the headlines came after Whitney about her being the one “out of control”). This is the EXACT machine that contributed and pushed Whitney to her demise. All in this 3 minute clip. 1) Being overworked, bc why was she being pressured to do a whole 45 minute concert the day before she performed at the Grammys(hence she was hoarse in her actual performance) and 2) the media and pressure critiquing and picking Whitney apart this night. Rosie kept on antagonizing Whitney in the audience, right before she performed, and even after she won her Grammy. Then years later Rosie had the audacity wanted to have crocodile tears and opinions about Whitney’s downfall. If she was a real friend to Whitney and ACTUALLY cared, she would’ve been way more careful about her words. This is exactly what contributed to Whitney’s death. Funny it’s the Grammy Awards a decade before she passed.
@@90skid97 yes she was. The 2000 Grammys was early February and I think the Hawaii incident happened right after New Years, January of 2000. It was fresh, but this was the beginning of when it got rough. She got fired from the Oscars that March and then by April/May was her turn around with Arista 25.
@@90skid97yes and it wasn't the only time that night. Laser when she introduced Whitney to do her performance at the Grammys at night, she said "here is someone who's a big fan of the doobies, Whitney Houston!" Which is another reference to marijuana
"Nat-lee? Nat-lee? C'mon. Nat-lee, where are you darling?"
My brain thinks of that automatically every time there's any footage from this event!

She definitely peaked.
RIP Whitney and Natalie!!
Beautiful in Purple
I remember watching it and wasn't too into it. Now seeing this again years later makes me kind of sad.
I love Santana too.

Was she reffering to the near drug arrest in Hawai? That would be in really bad taste
