    Oh my gosh, thank you so much. I had been trying to start embroidery but have so many problems and no video or guide mention the needles, I was using a regular one. I hope this solves it. Thank you so much

    I love the schmetz gold eye needles. There seems to be much less shredding when using specialist threads. There is quite a range. These little glimpses of yours are so useful.

      Thank you so much for your kind words! I agree - the gold needles are great! Also, thank you for providing that extra little tip. I love that different types of needles can work in other scenarios. It's always fun to hear about successes my fellow sewing friends have! Thank you for watching!

    Which needle should I use for polyester and cotton ?

  • @Trish312

    Ok I'm confused. You said to use a ball point for fabrics with stretch, does that include fleece? Also you said to use a sharp needle with using a water soluble stabilizer. I've been told to use ball point on fleece but I've also been told to use water soluble stabilizer on top for fleece. So what's the best method for embroidering fleece?

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  2 года назад +2

      Great question - You are correct. A ballpoint needle with fleece is recommended. A sharp is recommended with water-soluble stabilizer; however, in this circumstance, I would lean towards the needle that will work better with the fabric. If the ballpoint needle doesn't work well, try a universal needle instead of the sharp. They have been known to work well with fleece, too. That may be a happy middle ground. I suggest testing on scraps before moving on to your project - just to be sure. Best of luck! (Also, if you're willing to share your results, I would love to hear what worked out best for you!)

      @@SewingPartsOnline Thank you!! Oh and I used the ball point needle 75/11 and I used a med. weight fusible stabilizer on bottom and a light weigh WSS on top. Plus I went to a more profound font and my designs turned out awesome. I saved the link to your channel so I can come back and watch more of your embroidery tutorial's. I have watched so many different tutorial video's and I have found yours to be the best and most helpful. Thanks so much!!

    For a crewneck sweater would you recommend ballpoint or sharp needle ? 50% polyester 50% cotton

    I have some really stretchy 2 way stretch denim and I've tried using 75/11, 75/11 BP, 90/14, 90/14 stretch. I can't seem to get it right. I thought how I was stabilizing it was an issue. I'm using cutaway and I used basting glue since I'm floating the fabric. I still don't feel comfortable with the way it looks. I did notice that when I changed from the 90/14 stretch and used 75/11 BP the stitch edges were not 'see through'. I thought stretch and BP were the same, but I guess not. I don't know how much stretch or what fiber it is for the stretch because I bought the fabric a long time ago. Uggh! Really frustrating to find the right needle for this stuff.

      It sounds like you are taking the correct approach. Hmmm...I know this sounds silly, but have you tried different embroidery thread - I have found Baby Lock machines handle Maderia well; whereas, our Janome works great with Floriani. Perhaps, it is something simple like that. Also, make sure that you are using the correct weight of thread in the bobbin. When doing embroidery, you use a lighter weight thread like a 60wt or 90wt. 60wt: www.sewingpartsonline.com/search.html?keywords=finishing%20touch
      90 wt www.sewingpartsonline.com/embroidery-bobbin-thread-90wt-babylock-bbte-w.aspx I hope that this helps.

    I have a brother se 1900 and I'm making as a beginner a baby blanket that has minky on one side and flannel fabric on the back side. I'm a bit confused about what kind of needle should I be using? thank you very much,

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  Год назад

      This will likely be a trial and error situation. I would start with a universal size 14 needle. If that doesn't work, try a ballpoint size 14 since that is beneficial when sewing minky. Here are a couple of blogs about those fabrics also. www.sewingpartsonline.com/blog/sew-minky-fabric-tips-tricks/ and www.sewingpartsonline.com/blog/tips-tricks-sewing-flannel-fabric/

      Generally a size 12 or 14 work well; however, I suggest double checking what your machine manual says. :)
