Remember that Mormon had a limited amount of time and space to work with. Everything he put in his record, he put there for a reason, only the things that would be of the most benefit to us. And he spent a whole lot talking about secret combinations.
The fact is, we _do_ know the deeper secrets. We know there's more going on, because the Scriptures tell us so It's not about "exciting;" it's about the basic truth and knowledge that we need to keep us on the right path. The question is, do we believe it or not?
In temple recommend interviews, they ask if we believe in God, in the Church, in the prophets and so on. For a while now I've been wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to also ask, "do you believe in Satan?" Do we truly believe the scriptures when they say there is an Adversary working to destroy us and thwart God's plan? Do we believe that evil is a real thing in this world? Or do we go the way of the world, and prefer the notion we're specifically warned against in 2 Nephi 28:22, that it's all just "stuff happening" and there is no devil?

About five years ago a family in our ward had a little girl with seizures. They tried everything the Doctors thought would help, but didn't. They finally found a single drop of cannabis worked.

Media needs to tell the whole story and there should be no prizes for reporting.

One thing that would be nice is to see legacy media stop relying on “anonymous sources” so much.

34:29 many times it's a wonderful thing to look at the bright side and where we have agreements. Such as your point that there are people that care about America on both sides. However it is also foolish to ignore the fact that forces of evil are most certainly at war with us. They don't care if you're going to be peaceful. Balance and maintaining both perspectives and attributes is very important. It's just downright foolish to think that both sides of an issue are well-intentioned.

Deseret News has their own issue with respect to unbiased journalism. They use click bait article titles like the others do. Some of the stories are just not interesting and the sources lean more towards CNN which is highly problematic. Jacob’s insights didn’t really give me much encouragement. Church should get out of this business. Hard to separate DN as not being an official voice of the Church. Of course its not supposed to but we all know guilty by association. The Church should sell DN.

Yeah, he feels like he’s just pushing out the Kool Aid. He talks about critical thinking, but I question that’s what he’s doing.

Sounds like he's discounting secret combinations for the sake of everyone getting along

I don’t know if it’s my generation or my own mental health, but I am really hesitant to go after the opposite point of view like you and Jacob have suggested. Of course our purposes and focus is different, and that purpose may fuel who your resources are. But I find that I turn off or change the channel on anyone that brings in a negative influence. I am really sensitive to those ideas. (I used to think of being “too sensitive” as a negative quality. But I’ve learned it is a quality God has blessed me with).
But Greg, I have gained a trust in you and your presentations. And therefore I feel confident in your ‘take’ on things you’ve read.
When you show an opposing view or idea, I trust that you will bring it back to a gospel principle or doctrine. There have been very few shows you closed out that have left me unsettled.
Thank you for this show today. It has shown me I probably would not make a good journalist. And that’s ok.

Optimistic SPIN? That’s the issue. Spin spin spin.
Yes, people are thinking for themselves because the spin has become so obviously nonsensical.

Thanks, Greg! Good content. I majored in journalism so I found it very interesting. Wish I'd had that game when my kids were little. Sounds like a fun and educational game.

This is an excellent example of why you should collect or at least read physical books on subject matter.

    Greg,
You are one of these people I don't always agree with, but really respect. I'd be very interested in knowing those X sources you follow for your news. Anyway you can share that?

Im sorry to bring this up but could someone please help me understand how i can square the church's stance on the covid vaccine?
Im not bringing this up to be divisive this is seriously the main stumbling block i have to joining your church and would appreciate help. How can i entrust my children to a church who would have told them to take it 😢

    The press vs. the pamphleteer?
