      Thank you! Honestly I'm just here to document every cleaning and repair thing I run across! Once we've got most everything down in video it'll all go into an online video guide anyway!

    Hello, so far your disc polishing tips have helped me a lot. However, it would be nice if you could help us polish a disc that has been scratched by the flex of the slim ps2

    Do you charge to people to send their discs to you for a cleaning video? If not would you consider doing some time in the future?

    • @RestoreAndReplay
      @RestoreAndReplay  Год назад +1

      So it really depends on the disc, but yep, we can arrange things! A long long time ago I had a cleaning and repair business, but I ended up getting pretty backlogged, so I figured these videos could come in handy to help people clean their stuff in the meantime!

    Current update started following along and have gotten 2/3 games working it took some persistence but I got them working I knew the second one was gonna work when it finally booted, and only had minor audio issues I am currently working on the 3rd and will update when it works!

    Have you had any success fixing a disc with a perfect circle scratch from the laser?

    • @RestoreAndReplay
      @RestoreAndReplay  Год назад +1

      Are you spying on me??? I'm finishing editing a video showing how to remove those circle scratches on a PS1 game! Should have it out early this week! The same method applies to Xbox 360 discs as well! I've got some real good Xbox 360 laser burn/circle scratched discs to clean too!!
      Basically, you want to focus on polishing just the circle scratch, and smoothing that out first. But it's entirely fixable, I spent years and years behind a GameStop counter fixing Xbox 360 laser burns for people. Super easy to fix once you know what to look for.

      @@RestoreAndReplay Awesome! Yeah I just picked up a copy of NCAA basketball 10 on xbox360 and it has pretty bad circle scratch. I got it from not reading at all to the title screen, but it won’t go any further. Thanks and subbed.

      @@89gamingandcollectibles Great news bud, I just posted the first video of the circle scratch series! While I'll do a full video focusing just on Xbox 360 discs, the process I use in the PS1 video is basically the same as Xbox 360!

    You got to be careful with slim ps2's, the ribbon above the laser can scratch the discs whilst its spinnning. Have you had that?

    • @RestoreAndReplay

    Is it worth getting the Novus pack? Do you ever use Novus 1 or 3? Thanks!!

    • @RestoreAndReplay
      @RestoreAndReplay  Год назад +1

      Oh heck yes I love the pack. Step 1 I use to protect consoles. Works as an amazing dust prevention and gives consoles a nice protective shine. Plus Step 1 is great at removing fingerprints from discs! Step 3 I use on bigger scratches and on jewel cases (there are some videos floating around showing the methods). Step 3 is a sort of necessary evil when the scratches are just waaay too much for Step 2. All combined the 3 pack makes for a decent combination of tools.

    Hi man. How do you clean the top of the discs, especially those that don't have any stamping on them, and are just like the bottom, like a mirror? The top of my disc got a little dirty with Scratch Remover. Sorry for my bad english. Regards.

    • @RestoreAndReplay
      @RestoreAndReplay  Год назад +1

      The label side where the art is? I clean that side using only soapy water and a toothbrush. If you end up damaging the label there are ways to fix it, but it depends on the type of label. Some PC games can be polished, depending on the label, but others have a full disc printing on them.

    • @CBJr86
      @CBJr86 Год назад

      @@RestoreAndReplay Well, I just wanted to clean the top side of some discs that I have been polishing with what I have learned in your videos. While I was polishing them, always had some Scratch Remover getting dirty the top of the discs.
      But now that you mentioned that some discs can be restored if the label side is scratched, I got curious and very hopeful, because I have two discs that I have bough with the label scratched! One is an audio disc, and the other is a Saturn game.
      The audio disc is in a very very bad condition, because the tracks keep skipping very seconds and very sections, and is freezing for some time on some of them when I play it.
      And the Saturn game, I am playing the game from start to end, and all extra content, just to discover if something is freezing on the disc, and I had problems on two sections off the game till now. The game keeps freezing on the two same sections, always when are characters speaking, so I am assuming that this is related to the audio.
      When I got to that parts, I reseted the Saturn and loaded my last saved game, tried to get through that conversations many times, and in some of that tries the laser succeeded in reading the disc. So I can understand that the problem is not permanent/definitive. Can you explain how can I restore a disc scratched on the label/top side?
      I can send you pictures of the top of the discs if you need. Just tell me where to send them. Thanks for the help and once again sorry for my basic english.

    I like all your videos Doug. But i ve been thinking, if im gonna spend half a bottle of this, plus tissue plus my own time for something that might or might not play in the end..why not just buy a copy for 5 bucks?

    • @RestoreAndReplay
      @RestoreAndReplay  Год назад +1

      Excellent question! So a single bottle of polish will last for dozens of discs. While on some $2 games it might not make sense, on more expensive games you'll very quickly get a decent return of investment being able to repair them yourself. Not to mention once you get the hang of cleaning and resurfacing discs yourself you can buy those "nonworking" discs and bring them back to life.
      Just a week or so ago I bought a stack of 50 "nonworking" Xbo 360 games for $40. I'm 20 discs in and have brought them all back to life. Even if I were to sell each game for $2, I'd make my money back from the $40 spent. If I sell all 50 discs for $2 a piece? I've covered the cost of the games, the bottle of polish, and the cloths to clean them.
      Plus being able to restore friends discs is a huge benefit too. For me, I'll buy non-working discs, clean them, and give them away to youth groups, charities, or organizations where they could use some free games. I actually rarely, if ever, sell games that I restore. I much rather they go to someone who wants them!

    Hey can you tell me if I got the wrong version of that car scratch remover? I couldn’t find the 2.0 version that was in your video so I got one that looked the exact same but didn’t have 2.0 on it and it said it was compatible with paint. Was I supposed to get one that was compatible with plastic because I polished my disc many times but I am not seeing any difference with the scratches.

    • @RestoreAndReplay
      @RestoreAndReplay  Год назад

      Hey! If it's Meiguars scratch remover of any kind and it's white and somewhat watery it'll work. Buuuut the amount of water content can dictate how effective it is. I have a few videos coming up that get into using car scratch remover more. How many times have you cleaned it with the scratch remover? It's still doing something even if you can't see it.

    Maybe someone has already asked, but I'm wondering what I can do about polishing out finer scratches? I'm a bit of a perfectionist :)

    • @RestoreAndReplay
      @RestoreAndReplay  Год назад +1

      So I've got it narrowed down to two compounds (both are off the shelf stuff), and both will provide that mirror finish and remove those micro scratches. Still have a little work to do on making sure there aren't any adverse effects from the compounds, but you should see the video soon!
