We used to love them so much. They mean and will always mean the 80s to me and my friends. Seen them in concert more than any other band and as a teen and even as an adult I just can’t get enough of their music, no pun intended.

It's quite fascinating how much Depeche Mode's sound changes from the time Vince Clarke was with them until the time he left. It may not seem like a lot, but the biggest difference is how colorful the sounds were and scales used in the composition. Clarke's signature sound has been incredibly bright and vibrant using particularly the major scales with his work. After he left DM, their sound shifted from bright and vibrant to dark and gray. Their focus went from using the major scale to the minor scale while experimenting with different sounds and tonal settings. It also reflected on their overall presentation.

These guys were using instruments that were new for the time. Kinda like that Kraftwerk band. These guys were brave putting out music the contend with music made with drum kits and guitars. I remember the electronic age of music start ti become more popular. Even thoe I had a guitar , bands like this made me buy multiple sized keyboards.
