The 39 species of birds-of-paradise look very different from each other, and they also also sound very different from each other. But researchers are only beginning to investigate their calls in detail. The sounds they make run the gamut from basic squawks, to seemingly mechanical noises, to melodious whistles, to sounds that don't involve their voices at all. The Cornell Lab's Ed Scholes explains:

Yes!!! Great video!!! I'll never forget the bird calls I heard while hiking through the tropical forest of volcan Arenal in Costa Rica. One of them sounded just like when Mario goes down those green tubes
Nice to read that. I´m from Costa Rica, and you´re referring to the Montezuma Oropendola (Psarocolius montezuma). One of the weirdest sounds you can hear in our rainforests. Regards from Guanacaste, C.R

the most amazing sound I've heard in person so far is the large Indri lemurs vocalizing in the early morning, in a misty valley in Madagascar many years ago - magical sounds and scenery and that had a humpback whale song quality with the added natural reverb :-)
I would imagine you hear them more than seeing them. Here in NZ the birds aren't hugely colourful (interestingly, there are a lot of wattles and iridescence) but they are extremely vocal in the same way, with Tui and Bellbirds doing stuff that sounds like a broken synthesizer being eaten by a dinosaur inside a cathedral. Extreme bell notes, drops, metallic gratings and 'double' sounds etc. With the same goal of being audibly 'visible' in a low-visibility forest habitat. They also perform 'look at me, girls!' ridiculous vertical ascents with ritualistic elements and special songs. Divergent, but probably on the way toward Paradise-type kinds of specialised display.

Were you not able to record the amazing thrumming sound the Blue Bird of Paradise makes during his display? I was suprised it was not also featured in the video. It sounds amazing and not at all birdlike.
