    Your very comfortable in front of the camera, there is a charming way about you. The way you include a mistake and come up with a solution. Keep doing that. Its what makes you so relate-able and your a mom and pretty too! I use brass a lot in my work and have to save it is gorgeous with darker woods. Try Purple Heart with the brass. It sells out every time I make one.

    • @MarkTurnbull
      @MarkTurnbull 5 лет назад +8

      @@davidk7544 Yes it does as any traditionally male dominated field has found. There are frequently unintended biases against women, so that even if you personally aren't sexist regarding the field that doesn't mean there aren't biases/discriminations present. It's also been found that a blase outlook also leads to one not seeing inequalities present. So while you aren't seeing gender, that doesn't mean it's a good thing, it's just not as bad as being sexist. It's important to recognize accomplished women who can/are role models for other women to get inspiration from.
      It's the same problem with people who say they don't see color often means they don't recognize the intrinsic challenge minorities have faced and still face.

    As the ads used to say, "You've come a long way, baby". There used to be an old woodworker, Jim Krenov. The gist of what I took from his teachings was that heightened or focused perception is a key asset. One instance of that is the perception of what constitutes sharp and less than perfectly sharp. Another is understanding which of many possible causes are responsible for unsatisfactory machining, where all those burns come from. As you expand your perception you'll begin to recognize one cause after another of all those burns, the idea being to have the work more closely resemble a thought. More than 40 years ago a neighbor came into my shop as I was warping a blade and scorching the hell out of some elm that was full of stresses. He stood there until the saw and dust collection wound down. He made a show of sniffing the air. "Ah, yes. I had a woodburning set when I was a boy".

    I never knew you could resaw with that table saw (I've for the same model and love it). Gives me some ideas for the future. Thanks Tamar!

      Yup! It’s really not ideal. Bc the kerf is bigger than a bandsaw. So there’s more waste. And it’s kinda dangerous bc the blade gets super high. But it is possible!

      Thanks so much! I appreciate that! Before I started I thought I would make it out of poplar. Then I decided Walnut was the better choice. Ha. Happy I went with it!

      3x3Custom - Tamar Unfortunately, I do not understand English, but my translator helps me. 😄 Walnut is my absolute favorite. I suppose you used mirror polished brass, it just goes very well with the dark walnut! Great contrast! I'm looking forward to your new video. You are doing great!

    WOW, stunning build Tamar. Love the brass inlay against the walnut, stunning grain. You looked so cold making the box with your coat on in your workshop. Thanks for sharing
