FYI, most people can hold their breath for somewhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes. This swim was just slightly over 1 minute. Also, this kind of movement in water requires a low level of exertion. World record for holding breath? In 2012, German freediver Tom Sietas held his breath underwater for 22 minutes and 22 seconds, besting Dane Stig Severinsen's previous Guinness record by 22 seconds. (Although Guinness still lists Severinsen as the record holder, stating he hyperventilated with oxygen before his attempt for 19 minutes and 30 seconds.)

As a diver you learn to equalize the pressure in the ear against the pressure from outside. Simply hold your nose tight and gently blow into without releasing the air. This will create a pressure from inside the ear against the pressure from outside through the water. Alternatively try to swallow. A similar effect you will have if you fly and he plane is descending. The increase of air pressure can be equalized in the same way, but in the airplane its easier, because the pressure difference is not that big. Also it is thought, that you should start equalizing just when you start going under water, if you are at 3 m its already too late and the effort to equalize is too big. This equalizing is the reason, while common diver masks have always the nose area accessible, so that you can hold your nose while diving. Try it out next time in the pool. Its easy and suddenly you can go much deeper 👍👍👍
Same water pressure, because it depends on the depth not the volume. Even in a thin vertical pipe of 50 m height you would have the same pressure on the lower end. 10m equals to 1 bar pressure means 50m equals to 5 bar. Average pressure out of your water pipe at home l is between 1 to 3 bar (as comparison).
Anyone that knows how to swim shouldn't be scared at all. It's no more 'dangerous' than swimming in a pool that is 12 feet deep. Without diving gear, obviously most of that pool's depths will be unexplored.
