"I'm taking another 3 months off to fully understand what I need to do" Bro. Stop cheating. If you can't figure that out day 1 I'm not sure what to tell you. It's not that deep.
Way back when Wizards of the Coast was its own company they offered a gaming camp at their campus. My friends went out to this things, Magic being very important to them. One of the benefits of this camp was getting to play M:TG with the current world champion and get advice and coaching from this person. This dude told them to cheat. Much of his advice was things like "Don't tell your opponent your actual life total", stuff like that. Things that are now very much boilerplate rules that weren't when M:TG was first coming onto the scene as a game. This guy reminds me of that story. I can't imagine ever telling anyone that a guy who clearly very blatantly cheated on camera was coaching me about that game. I'm not even sure I'd want to mention him coaching me at Chess. Or even Checkers. I can't believe he decided to strike out on his own and then did this. I mean, I can totally believe it, but at the same time the amount of gall one would have to have is incredible. As for his apology: Well, it's better than I've heard from other competitive players in other games. There is, as you pointed out, no equivocating by him for the most part. He seems to accept that he got caught, admitted to wrong doing. I imagine writing that apology was not very easy for him, so I tend to give a person in that situation the benefit of the doubt when it comes to sincerity. I've been cheated by players at Grand Tournaments before, it never feels fun and it degrades the enjoyment of the game in a competitive setting dramatically. I may have mentioned this before but competitive play needs to be more on guard for this sort of thing and the punishments need to be incredibly more draconic than what ITC gave this guy. A lifetime ban is probably in order because of the extremely blatant disregard for the game. If 40K continues to have more and more competitive events with anything like cash prizes, or even high value product support, this will continue. Only by making the risk of cheating so much greater than any potential reward can prevent people from watching what this guy did and refining his approach to cheating.
TJ severed his contract with AOW a few weeks before the fabricators forge event happened. TJ left the AOW team to start his own Chaos coaching service which he was advertising on his IG page before the Fabricators Forge event. He cheated because he needed clout to start selling his coaching services so his normal table bullying was ramped up to 12 for this one. Hence why he got caught. TJ always pushed the borders of acceptable play, this time he went to far because he needed the rep to start his service.
I'm with ya. In the first video and this one. Dude sounds super insincere, and honestly should be stripped of previous championships as far as I'm concerned. If Pete Rose can't be in the Hall of fame, this dude should never be allowed to accumulate ITC points ever again. I know I wouldn't play him... And even if I did, I'd be such a nitpicking rules lawyering pain in the ass, he might never want to play again. Screw cheaters. Like you said, It's one thing to screw up some of your rules, that happens to the best of us, but cheating your dice roles, adding extra dice, and removing too few models is indicative of who you are as a person. I dunno. I think he should be ostracized and made an example of. The ITC ruling feels like a slap on the wrist. He got off easy.
Hey Trevy, I think AoW still having TJ's name on their website is a mistake, not evidence of continued association. You cannot select him as a coach when you purchase services, nor is he listed with the coaches profiles, only in that one section where you have to select "Additional Information", which I think may simply be an oversight when they deleted his information. AoW also made a statement in the immediate aftermath of these events originally coming to light that TJ had not been offered a new contract when his expired, and his formal association with AoW had been severed before the tournament in question by a number of weeks.

Almost everyone playing 40k Competitive cheats. I have played a lot of competitive 40k when I was young and I only know 1 person that didn't cheat (at least not on purpose). It's one of the reasons I stopped playing 40k all together and switched to Flames of War. The FOW tournaments where a lot more friendly, and you had opponents that actually help you if you forget something. So a "life long ban" for something everybody does? utter none sense! A lot of players also don't realize they are cheating as "that is how they always do it". I now sometimes play 40k but only for fun. And just to be sure; I never cheated, as I didn't need to, I was scary to play against when I was young ;)
Hmmm... have I ever cheated and done something... as heinous as... this guy... no... NO MAN! SH! NO MAN! I believe you get your ass kicked for something like that! This is OLD news Trevy, why are you covering it now?
Seriously, I thought I didn't have to hear about this anymore. Also no new thoughts on the situation that haven't been brought up elsewhere. I understand the need to create content but this ain't it
I think a year ban for first time offenders and then lifetime ban if you’re caught a second time
isnt this old news?
Seems like he should offer free coaching as a way to give back to the community at this point. Charging money after cheating feels extra slimy.
You want to be coached how to cheat? Or you want to be coached by a cheater? Lol no I think he is worthless.
As little as I like cheaters, you are endangering a guys chanc le to pay his bills because he cheated AT A GAME. He can still keep up, he can still play casual games with competitive lists, he can give advice on how the game works and on list building. I thinks that going as far as to doubt his good business practices because he got caught cheating, again, ON A GAME, is a bit too far.
I can't agree with your point about him giving up coaching - if you false a dice roll in a game in the future, is it a fair expectation for me to expect you to delete your youtube channel?
"false a dice roll" is a pretty timid description of how much this guy cheated.
Do you even know the original video? This dude hat some magician level of slight of hand and had such a routine cheating this wasn't his first time!
Is he selling others advice on how to cheat?
What pc game was that
Tabletop simulator
You have to take responsibility when it's on a recorded game for all to see 😂
Tau player xD he needed it
Hmmm... have I ever cheated and done something... as heinous as... this guy... no... NO MAN! SH! NO MAN! I believe you get your ass kicked for something like that! You deserve a lifetime store and tourney ban for being a premeditated serial cheater. Of course only choice enforceable by third parties, he can still cheat... I mean... err... play people who want to play him.
He should sell his models. No recompense, no forgiveness, no second chances.
Big name 40k players lol.
?
I've cheated in a game of monopoly, Lance Armstrong cheated in the TdF, It's human nature to want to win. To err is to be human, therefore to be human is to forgive. End of the day, it is a game propped up by a company extorting us for money so we buy more toy soldiers.
This is petty. The guy admitted it, accepted his punishment and did not fight it. I fail to see what your position is. You say the guy cheating means that he shouldnt provide coaching? I almost want to fucking get his advice just to spite you. People are fallible and the guy fucked up. That being said, its 40k. No one cares, about this but us and acting like this is some horrible controversy is hilarious. Hes not the Huston Astros, hes a hyper competitive nerd.
