Once I had 5 lot of 27100 call on the day of banknifty expirey .on that day banknifty closed about 27205 . actually that time my call value is about 200 but this was 0.05 paisa means no return price and put value of 27100 put was about rs.45 on that day at 3.28 pm I am telling that how can it possible ..?? NSE or SEBI is not responsible about that ...?? Sir I m requesting to you that please give me reply about this matter in your next video I told this matter to lot of person but no has answer so please sir reply me it's not only for me but for lot of people thanks sir good night....
I will answer it. On expiry, if you dont sell your option, its value is calculated on 'Settlement Price'. This settlement price is average of last 30 minute prices. I am assuming this is what happened - Bank Nifty would have jumped from 26900 to 27205 in last 30 minutes, so average is around 27050. That is why 27100 put was 45 (roughly 50) and 27100 call expired worthless. This is the reason last 30 minutes move does not matter much in option prices, and we should keep settlement price in mind at that time while trading options. Is my assumption correct?
