I got here via FB TexasPermaculture Design Projects. I was born and raised in TX, but now I live in Western WA. Nice video & good job! Sorry about the chainsaw.
Hahaha!! I know right?!? I am sure that it is operator error. I am totally to blame I'm sure. So great that you are from Texas and still follow the group. I have a couple of more videos from the Texas Permaculture friends...so be sure to subscribe so you don't miss it. Glad to have you here and thanks for tuning!!! :)
great job! nothing wrong with a little hard work! We did ours with and axe and machete!! :) It was actually faster since we were having the same problems with our chainsaw!! lol
Assuming that was a new chainsaw or chain then you will need to adjust the tension more often as it wears in and stretches. Aside from loosening the two nuts with your bar tool there should be another screw that will tighten your chain to the bar.
I was going back through your videos because i knew I had seen somewhere forestry mulcher. So my question is what happened to that idea? I have been looking around for one and so far no luck.
Hahaha!!! Yeppers, you are hitting the same exact snag that we found. Forestry Mulchers are AMAZING machines!!!! And they can do some terrific clearing and land management for your property. But here is the catch... 1) There aren't a lot of owner operators. And even less rental companies that carry them. 2) They take a huge beating = the machines are always in repair = if you can find a local owner operator it is a 50/50 change he is available. 3) You can find owner operators. But because of 1 & 2...they are CRAZY EXPENSIVE!!!!! We were originally quoted $125/hr for a minimum of 10hrs. Totally cool with me! But their machine was always in the shop. Everyone else I found in central Texas was closer to $3000 per day. Not in our budget. So that is where chainsaws and OUR ROAD came in!! Lol. ...now I just have to rent a wood chipper for $300/day. 😀👍🏻 Keep the questions coming!! I love them.
I was quoted $635 a day in a email this morning however the company making the quote also said it was out on rental and would be out for at least the next month.
Suggestion on your chain saws. Don't buy gas from the pump and use in them. Ethanol will destroy a carb in short order. If you buy what they call tru-fuel, it comes mixed with the oil and all you got to do is pour it in and go. It is also ethanol free and has a long shelf life. Oh and tighten up your chain on a regular basis.
+pcguy36 AWESOME suggestion!!! I never knew that about the gas/oil! So where do I get that? Home Depot or Lowes? Also yep!!!! Immediately after I got home from this work day I realized that I completely missed the chain tightening flat screw. We were just trying to pull the bar out. I'm a newbie. And I am sort of a dummy. Ha ha. Thanks again for watching a couple of our videos! ***What would you be interested in seeing next? We are planning many many more videos here for 2017 and I would LOVE your input and ideas!!!***
I get mine at Lowe's. Home Depot carries it too and walmart carries a brand similar to it. i never had any issues with my generator till I used fuel from the pump in it and now I most likely am going to have to buy another carb. My chain saw never misses a beat with tru-fuel. I am pretty sure tractor supply has it too.
You are welcome. I made the mistake of butting some pump fuel on my generator not too long ago and now I'm having issues with it. Time to tear apart a carb and see what happened.
I hope this doesn't come across as rude but if you don't know how to put the chain back on the bar, maybe you shouldn't be using a chainsaw. This tool can do a lot of damage to humans in blink of an eye. Good video and I will be doing a similar project myself so was watching your video for motivation :D.
Nice video, thank you....Men,,,you are very funny. at 6;10 (approximately) your response was perfect,,,,and funny . and the follow through was even better. thanks for a great video men. !!!
I've cleared a great deal of land by hand and even with brush cutters and chainsaws to very tough work. But it was very rewarding to do and you do save a great of money if you don't factor in the medical bills.

Tools have a mind of their own - you have to get to know them and how they expect to do things. Keep on keeping on! :)

Hahaha!! Yes! Thank you for that tip! I just went out and found that screw. Thank you!!! I would have never found it. :)

Thanks for this info! We're land clearing next month with a chainsaw and would've damaged it using gasoline from a gas station.

If you tighten the chain enough it should never fall off.
+Off Grid Get Away Camp yup. I was a dummy back then. Still pretty much a big dummy. Ha!
but if u get the chain to tight the saw will shut down if u don't keep revin it
As a full time tree worker, I don't like watching people use a chainsaw without chaps 😕 it's to dangerous because a chainsaw can kick back at any time
Wow! Great tip. We’ll be looking for some chaps now.

The title says "Clearing land with a chainsaw". Out of an 9 minute video, only two minutes shown using the chainsaw.
Thanks for the note Gibson. 👍🏻

I would bring a brush attachment and cut as much brush as possible. That Poland chainsaw is garbage they suck. Get Ryobi Havquana or Stihl
Yea, I really want a Stihl for sure!!
What was the circular black thing he held up at the end ??
Not sure, it's been awhile.
"battle cats" 😆
No hearing & eye protection ?
