As Danum Hunt mentioned, your painting a picture of everything bad about the town, I was born and raised in this town and it’s true we have crime, poverty, gangs, as other inner cities do but it was not alway like this, we have a rich history and there are some great people who want the city to thrive and grow but it’s starts with the leadership, and bringing better jobs to the city. That’s easier said then done! Do your research on the history of Benton Harbor, how did it go from a successful thriving town where people wanted to be to where they are now. I have also lived in Grand Rapids for over 6 years and yes, it’s a great town but they also have there bad spots, some property areas also but it’s a bigger city with a lot of job opportunities and things to do for the youth and families. How about we pray that GOD’s hand will rest over these cities and he brings people who are assigned to these cities to help bring change and strengthen those who have been there and continue to fight for those changes. Not every leader is corrupt or bed there, I want to make sure I say that!!

I drove through there on my way to work for years and, the one thing I learned was, no matter what the traffic light is doing, red or green or yellow, don't ever stop there if you can help it. Go right through. If a cop stops you, you'll have backup to get the hell out of there. If you are behind a car that is stopping, leave your self some space to escape by going around. You may think you are OK driving around this city, but you are not. Trouble can come at any time. Don't trust it.

Charlie, I think it would be beneficial to attach reading materials regarding the decline of cities. Or academic materials that can juxtapose the reasoning for the state of the places you video. Documented written history combined with visuals of the current state would educate viewers immensely. When it is only visuals, the short sided average you tube viewer assumes the citizens are the reasons for the current state. We should assess all of the reasons outside of the visuals. America has failed policy wise in many ways.

The citizens in these videos ARE the reason for this. You can't policy your way out of culture and giving these people public housing has made it worse for generations.
What these people really need is a patch of land, a shovel and some seeds combined with the understanding that if you don't work, there's absolutely no one that's going to feed you so your starve. They'll either survive or nature with right its self.
