- I visited the Big Island of Hawaii earlier this year. In part one of a 4-part series, I’ll take you around my hometown of Hilo. And, meet up with Hilo boy and award winning artist, Mark Yamanaka, and other friends!

Yeah I remember grad 1976 moved to Honolulu in 1978 and came back every year till 2000 and moved to the mainland till my parents deceased in 2017 now go back when I can and spend a few days in Hilo

I didn't know Mark Yamanaka had one car dealership in Hilo or his son is in Crossing Rain, cool! I'll be watching for more Hawai'i & Japan videos... thats my two favorite places!

@@JapanDream808 oh sorry wish I could claim to had grown up Big Island but it was my dads generation that did. I still enjoy going up there though. I grew up on Oahu and still there. Thanks for the complements! Your quality and style is amazing and something that I cant compare to but is something I would like to strive for! We inspire each other i guess! Wow Yokohama, we just went there in December to check out the Chinatown there, Yamashita Park, and some Harry Potter Christmas tree thing in some mall. We had a good time. Mahalo 🤙🏽😊

i remember having Easter egg hunts at Coconut Island. I got pushed off that tower, i though i was going die that day lol. I miss Hilo

Based on this, it looks like hilo needs some more entrepreneurs. My buddy and I are from oahu and we went to the mainland for a decade to build skills and money. In 4 years we are planning on moving to Hilo to start several businesses over the course of the next 30 years. First is going to be a plumbing business to get us going. Next is gonna be a food truck or two. Third, an indoor/outdoor skatepark. Fourth, a smoothie/acai bar.

Here's a funny story about the stadium. My Auntie Sally Kaleohano used to work there at the stadium and every year when they have concerts she would get me and my cousins to come and work in there and we got to watch the concerts for free and the one year vanilla ice came and had a concert there and my Auntie Sally refused to turn off the lights and he was so mad that she would not turn off the light I don't know why my auntie wouldn't allow the lights to go off but he played 2 or 3 more songs and ended the concert.

I may be going to Hilo next month for work so I’ll be there for a minimum of 3 months. I’ve worked on Maui & been to Oahu during lockdown. I’m from Texas so it was so difficult to get used to a small island like Maui 😅. Hilo looks more like my type of place! Hope to see y’all soon! I’ll be needed a rental car as well. 🙂

Thank you for this video. Yes, I am myself to go visit family in HPP and I would like to move there but I’m not ready yet. I am from Los Angeles California and I would miss all the Ferraris and Lamborghinis in Beverly Hills Palos Verdes everything we have here in Los Angeles but I love Hawaii and would I ever move there yes, eventually I think I will because I am at peace when I’m on the big island and everybody is very nice especially the locals. Well, thank you for this video over here in Los Angeles. We’re getting ready to leave Free a Hilo in a couple of days.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
