Nice video! But one thing I do have to say, Price has the most wins as a hab beating even P.Roy. That proves that he was not only a good goalie at the time but one of the best in history!
You're right that Price was a great goaltender but you cannot really Say that based on the amount of wins he had with Montreal. He also played 139 more games than Roy and won about the same percentage. Again I'm not saying you're wrong but it's hard to mention he's got the most wins without also pointing out he's got the most losses as a Habs goaltender
@@ddg9 Fair point but also don't forget he played through a massive injury for most of the time as well. The fact he got any wins after that hit is beyond impressive.
If you took into account the teams in front of them there’s literally no contest. Lundqvist is amazing but he almost always had great teams in front of him to help him out, Price WAS the Montreal Canadiens during his tenure Also that 2021 Habs team wasn’t as mediocre as you say, yes price was the main driver but it’s not like nobody else stepped up during that run.
Price on the Rangers would have been absolutely legendary over the same period of time. What price accomplished on the teams he was a part of cannot be understated.
Hank definitely The Rags might've given him slighly better teams but the defence on some of those rosters were brutal, yet he gave them vezina performances EVERY year, thats crazy, no disrespect to Price he's great
All I got to say is that Price never had any team in front of him.... they were at best avg and he made them good, If they ever had a good team in front of Price they would of won a cup or two ! I am a Habs fan and if Kreider didn't run him they would of won the cup that season or had a good chance of winning it ! Lundqvist had a way better team in front of him then Price ever had in his career
As a rangers fan id like to know where all of these “great rangers teams” people are referring to were when i was watching. We had like no offense for most of hank’s career
I actually don’t think it’s that close and the nhl players agree almost unanimously, Price was the man they dreaded facing. Remember when Sid didn’t like the idea of playing Montreal in a 5 game series because if price got hot they were screwed? No one ever said that about Lundqvist. Very good goalie but more on the level of Fleury and Quick.
I remember during the 2020 play-inns the league was actually scared and hesitant to do a best of 3 series in case Price got hot and the habs went on a crazy run. Even though he was mediocre that year, it was still a concern. Totally forgot to mention that!
@@FirstLineHockey Carey and I were goalie partners in midget AAA. He was one of those guys that could just turn it on in a big playoff game and be totally unbeatable.
I think you downplayed the teams Henrik had in front of him compared to Price. That's a way bigger gap then you tried to show. When the best centers on those teams are guys like Koivu and Plecky, they would have never been close to a playoff team without Price
??? It's one of the two basic goalie stats. I know it's definitely not a perfect stat and there's a whole lot more to a goaltender than gaa but it's maybe the most used goalie Stat.
Price never had a team excuse is so stale. He was a one year wonder, never a Vézina nominee beside that year. Go check Hasek with Buffalo, now that’s a goalie without any help and multiple Vézinas. Hank has 5 top3s (Vézina nomination) to Price’s one. Lundqvist > Price 2-0 in the playoffs, with or without the injury caused by a Habs player. That’s the clincher, under presssure I take Hank any day. My team is in the West, so Habs fans: Essayer même pas d’argumenter avec vos tite lunettes bleu-blanc-rouge.
one year wonder? In 2014 he was 3rd in league GSAx, in 2015 he was first by a land slide and in 2016 he had the same amount of shutouts as losses. He wasnt consistent in his career by any stretch of the imagination but definitely wasnt a one hit wonder.
As far as elite goalies are concerned, he finished in the top 3 only once..... Rest is just details. I give him 2015, but Theodore also had a MVP season..... Is he better than Lundqvist too?
In 2014, Price finished 4th in Vezina voting and got more 1st place votes than Ben Bishop who finished 3rd. Price would have had another great season in 2016 if he hadn't injured his knee as he was only held to 12 games (which he won 10 of with 2 shutouts) which makes it impossible to even come close to the Vezina trophy. Theadore is much closer to a one hit wonder than Price ever was.
@@FirstLineHockey disagree. There is a video on Price as well and its very different. There is a clear first pick between the two. Price is more in competition with Rask.
No he's not. Rask had a superstar team in front of him while price played with mostly scrubs. Price still had a higher career gsax than rask with a much worse team

Price had a higher peak, Lundqvist had better longevity.

Every win records is overrated since the new NHL (2005).
No ties, so more wins. And 82 games a year.
@@jogendron6320Carey Price joined in 2005 all good wins.
Exactly my point.
He never had ties.
Price is my fav player and I think he was the best or second best Montreal goalie ever Roy would be best if I was doing entire careers
😂😂😂😂😂😂
price
Both were stellar goalies but Price never had a team in front of him. So have to go with Price on this one.

The team was definitely an above average nhl team but nowhere near a finalist team.

Lundqvist by a mile.

Look at play offs
Different situations. Lundqvist didn't always have the best team around him but definitely better than anything price had to play with

He's definitely one of the best from that era but imo not the same level as these guys
