“Spirit Girls” explores the idea of soulmates who are never meant to be. It follows Ivy, a young woman who finds herself drawn to different people at different times but always comes back to August. No matter who Ivy is with, August is always present in her thoughts, we hear this through her memories. We wanted to capture the complexities of growing up as a queer woman and the relationships that women have throughout their lives.

This isn't even exclusive to queer people and not to women either.
I'm a hetero man, over 60 by now and I've had something similar for over half of my life.
A woman I met when I was in my 20s, where there was a huge attraction between us that never got anywhere.
I met her again and again, sometimes with years in between, that attraction was always there and I could tell she felt it as well, but we never went for it, sometimes one of us was in a relationship, sometimes circumstances in life didn't give us the time and so on.
It happens and sometimes it's just not ment to be, meanwhile I'm happily married and lost her out of sight, but the thought about "what if" pops up in my mind every now and then to this day.
