The fact that Walt Disney made Roy Dominguez the VP of Disney entertainment & kept the grandparents wedding gift palm is so amazing & respectful to me. I wish that you could see more acts like this in current times.
I always wondered about that boarded up tunnel in Frontier Land! I just thought it was themeing- I had no idea it was left over from an old ride. Neat!
This is what I imagined happening when they were naming the People Mover. Walt Disney: Ok everyone we need to think of a name for our new attraction, it’s going to move people.” Bill: “I got it!!! We’ll call it the People Mover!”” Walt Disney: “You’re a genius Bill!”
There was a Mickey Mouse short that directly referenced Mine Train through Nature's Wonderland. There's even a line where Mickey says "Huh, thats weird. It says the Rainbow Caverns are supposed to be here, but someone put a BIG THUNDER'N MOUNTAIN on top of it." 😮😂😂😂
Great video! I remember talking to Ron Dominguez at Disneyland on July 17, 2014. It was the day they premiered the 60th anniversary logo to the public for the celebration that would begin the following year. He told us about his time with the Company. He was very proud of the Palm tree in Adventureland.
I ran into Ron Dominguez when I was working at Disneyland in the late 70's. I was crossing Main Street from the Firehouse backstage entrance and almost walked right into him. He said "Hi Joe, looks like you forgot your name tag." He knew my name even though I had forgotten my name tag in my locker. That's the kind of guy he was. Thousands of employees and he somehow knew who I was. I still have a couple full ticket books and several that only have A and B tickets in them. I miss the People Mover and the Rocket Rods. I was lucky enough to ride the RRs at the "new" Tomorrowland opening. I miss the Tahitian Terrace. They had some purple drink there that was incredible on a hot summer day. The KLOS Mark and Brian Toontown opening was a blast.
Hi, I absolutely love you! You always make non click bait amazing content. I thank you for all this enjoyment you have brought to us and wish you luck in your future RUclips career.
Eyyy a video that features Tomorrowland! I work over at one of the restaurants and I can tell you, many people have no idea what the people mover even was! Personally I haven't heard anything about the tracks being removed as they provide an amazing amount of shade for Cast Members and Guests throughout the area.
Peoplemover, motor boat cruise, skyway - three of my favorite rides from childhood. I rode the skyway in 1994 on its last day. And yes, I remember the ticket books.
K Anders I knew pretty much all of this stuff cos I’ve seen every offhand Disney video I think I have too much time on my hand and watch too many videos about Disney parks
I grew up near Disneyland in California and went there often in the 70’s until we moved to Oregon. I’ve been back several times since but I’ve never known any of this and the other secrets in your videos. If I ever make it back to Disneyland it will be a very different experience for me, I’ll be looking for all of the hidden secrets instead of riding the rides!
Thank you for doing Disneyland since I used to live in California and went to Disneyland almost every weekend so thank you for doing Disneyland for a change I’d love to learn more about Disneyland
I still live in California but soon moving to Montana and I want to show my family the most secrets I can before the passes expire in February... that exact month we’re moving...
Loved this! You hear all the time about entire areas or parks - like River Country - being abandoned, but it’s fascinating to also see abandoned elements still in view in the active parks!
I made this comment on a different channel, but since you asked the question about the Peoplemover, I'll plop the comment here too. Quote: Disney really needs to get on with that Peoplemover track. Fix it NOW and get the Peoplemover back up and running!!! People try to say "oh, it's broken" "oh, it would take too long" "oh, they'll have to shut down Tomorrowland" "oh, there's not enough money." Everything that people say about why they cannot bring back the Peoplemover has an easy fix around it. 1) It's broken: well, FIX it. When you break something in your house, you don't just stare at it and say that it can't be helped. You fix it. Or if it's beyond repair, you throw it away so that it isn't just a hunk of junk sitting for everyone to see. If the supports are so structurally unsound, it's going to come down anyways. California is earthquake country. Wouldn't it be better for it to not come crashing down on thousands of people when the big earthquake hits? 2) It'll take too long: Of course it's going to be time consuming, but this isn't a mostly backstage area. When Disney really puts its mind to something it will be done very quick, especially if people can see it and they would be losing momey if it wasn't ready. 3) They'll have to shut down Tomorrowland: well; I have two things to say about that. GOOD! Then they can fix other things around the land. Also, they shut down lands all the time. Hello, they just down Paradise Pier to turn it into Pixar Pier. They shut down the River of America and the train to start on Galaxy's Edge. Hell, they shut down the parking lot to turn it into California Adventure. It's possible. Plus, it doesn't even have to be all at once! They can do the tunnels and backstage stuff first, then they can do the paths that go around Autopia and just have the one ride shut down there. THEN lastly, they can shut down the main entrance part. Even then, only Star Tours and Buzz will be affected. They can still keep it open from the Fantasyland side all the way to Space Mountain. 4) Money. It's Disney. They have money. One last one that my cousin brought up is that they have some lighting rigs up on the track. There's a solution to that too. Put a roof. Bada bing bada boom - done - lights can go there. It is totally possible to bring back the Peoplemover so it's not just a giant trash pile throughout Tomorrowland. I've heard them say that it's going to be torn down soon but they can explore all their options. They can save the Peoplemover if us Disneyland fans tell them to. If we make them. We all know how they respond to Disneylanders. They're afraid of us. They know they can't lose us because they would be nothing without the locals. It's possible to save the Peoplemover and restore it to its former glory. I believe in it.
Hi! I love your videos so much and I was wondering if you could do a video on the secrets of Roger Rabbits CarToon Spin at Disneyland California or haunted rides at the Disney parks? I’m from California so I wanna know more about Disneyland California and California Adventure
One of these days all the Disney Park youtubers you guys both know should collab and make a podcast kind of thing... It would be cool to watch and see opinions about the Disney Parks from people who seem to know quite a bit...
The abandonment of the PeopleMover makes me very sad. It was a wonderful ride. My brother loved the motorboats. And the Skyway... Thank you for the video. I was lucky to have gone to the park regularly as a child growing up in Orange County during the 1960s.
The boarded-up tunnel with the train tracks next to the little lake is probably my favorite spot in Disneyland. It’s also another quiet place to take a little rest and enjoy the beauty of the park. I didn’t realize it wasn’t just part of the scenery and was actually part of a ride at one point!
It was fascinating to see the history of the Matterhorn in particular. I had a childhood memory of being able to see into the guts of the Matterhorn as the Skyway passed through. I always thought it was a false memory, thinking that the passage was always enclosed on the sides to form a tunnel through the mountain. I had a cousin who was in the Club 55. When I was a wee lad (about 1967) we visited them. We had a magical time in the park.
I remember when I was younger.. when I had never known about the tracks history, and had always wondered.. "what are those used for?" "Where's the vehicles for that ride?" I never knew that they were abandoned, or what they were once used for Recently, my teacher has the kids who do all their work play kahoot on Friday. One time she asked for topics, I suggested Disney parks, she chose Disneyland. Using every fact this channel taught me, I came out on top.
Ah! This takes me back to my childhood! As a California kid of the 90s, I can vividly recall riding the People Mover, the Motor Boat Cruise and the Skyway buckets. In fact, the last time I was in Disneyland they still had the old loading station for the Skyway tucked away in Fantasyland. Trees had overgrown around it and a food cart blocked the entrance but it was still there. It's rather nice to see tributes to the bygone attactions, they may be gone but they are not forgotten.
Your videos make me so happy. I adore Disney and can’t believe I found your channel!!!!! Edit: OMG IM IN HYSTERICS I CANT BELIEVE YOU LOVED MY COMMENT. YOU ARE SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO ME!!!

12:18 thank you so much!! About two weeks ago when I went to disneyland i asked my dad what were those tracks that if they were decoration or an extinct ride and he had no clue but thank you and that's cool !!
Never knew about the palm tree next to Jungle Cruise. Interesting fact about Tiki Room I love Tiki Room by the way. Knew the mine train ride. Booths were knew to me. I used work Disneyland Resort 2003-2006.
I needed this right now! I was pretty down thinking about my old dog who got put down a few months back, and needed a video or something to distract me right when you uploaded. Thanks guys :,)
TPMvids it’s fine! She was getting old and the bad days outweighed the good, so we thought it was time to let her go. And yeah! It was very interesting:)
Having adopted a pupper of my own a year ago next month, I can't imagine the pain you're feeling, but so glad we were able help you feel a little better :)
Great video! Loved the part about the mine train ride... As a kid, I always wondered if that was remanence of an abandoned ride or just part of the decor. Thanks for answering that! Btw, the boat ride being redressed with the Gummi Bears theme, I believe was part of a larger (limited time) redressing of that entire area to promote the Disney Afternoon programming block... My family went there during that promo, because I was such a big Disney Afternoon fan. 😁
Since I’ve been watching this amazing channel I’ve been learning a lot of thing about Disneyland. Im going to Disneyland on the 29th so I’m making sure to watch a lot and i mean a-lot of Disney video😂❤️ thanks a-lot for teaching me a bunch of facts about Disneyland love you❤️
BOT Honor Why can't once a week be enough? I've seen other channels being asked to upload twice a week when it's clear that would mean there would hardly be any time away from the computer, maybe getting stressed about not getting their deadlines when there's things coming in between.
I remember when I visited Disneyland I noticed the boarded up tunnel from the old mine train attraction and was confused about what it was. Glad to finally find out!
Disneyland is the only place that can bring back instant nostalgia. Went there in the mid 90s as a kid, had a pass when I was 18-19 and the magic semi fades. Now at 35 and having a kid I feel transformed whenever going into the park. Went last year in March and going again in a month or soo. Cant wait. Soo many memories from my past and unlike other theme parks, Disney is almost identical except the new star wars land.
If Rocket rods had worked, it would have been BETTER than the people mover in my opinion. It’s kinda like a roller coaster, and it reminds me of how space mountain was first designed: with tracks in and out of the building. You got to zoom in and out of tunnels at fast speeds; kinda like test track, but you get to tower over all the people waiting in line for the Matterhorn. Rocket rods would be a good attraction to bring back, and it wouldn’t be hard to just switch the supports. They were DESIGNED for the slow moving people mover, and that’s why they failed. Disney, please bring back the rocket rods.
Well, it cause a lot of stress on the People Mover's structural beams which is the thing. Too much stress on an old structure over time equals catastrophic results; such as the ride actually breaking and possibly hurting/killing guests. If anything it was done out of a safety measure from the Imagineers. Best way to look at it is from an engineering perspective.
Great video and collab, I loved seeing Yesterworld as I am subscribed to the channel too! I knew a few things here but wasn't aware of the ticket booths so I'll definitely be taking pics of those the next time I go to Disneyland! And my mom, who watched the video with me, wants Rocket Rods back (improved over the original of course) but I gotta go with PeopleMover.
It was an honor to work with you on these fascinating subjects and further explore Disneyland's history!
Had a blast working on this! Everyone needs to go check out Yesterworld!!
Great job, Mark! 😍👍🏼

brian nelson ... How are you first?
I'm truly humbled :)
Im going to Disneyland on the 29th so I’m making sure to watch a lot and i mean a-lot of Disney video😂❤️ thanks a-lot for teaching me a bunch of facts about Disneyland love you❤️
#BRINGBACKTHEPEOPLEMOVER

StarryKnightGames they gotta fix the track cause rocket rods ruined it
Great video guys! Now I need to go back to Disneyland to watch for these hidden gems!
I love videos that teach me something new! I already knew about the Dominguez Palm, but I had no idea their house was a part of backstage!
i love you!! your videos are the best!
Thanks so much Hailey! :)

Thanks for making another quality video! Have you ever thought of uploaded twice a week? I think we all need 2 per week.
BOT Honor
Why can't once a week be enough? I've seen other channels being asked to upload twice a week when it's clear that would mean there would hardly be any time away from the computer, maybe getting stressed about not getting their deadlines when there's things coming in between.
If you had to be the one doing the editing you would understand why they only do one good quality video a week....
Bobby Baldeagle you and the kid above me are taking this too literal. I am just saying, along with others, we would like more videos.
yeah
I'm glad they're going to be taking the damaged tracks down finally, I really hope they're going to build new ones though!
Could you do some overseas Disney Parks vids too? ✨🙈 Amazing videos btw 🎉
Yes another video!
I like food
Your videos are amazing! Your one of my favorite youtubers right now!!
I remember when I visited Disneyland I noticed the boarded up tunnel from the old mine train attraction and was confused about what it was. Glad to finally find out!
"an animatronic entertained dinner being too complex" huh, don't tell that to Fazbear entertainment (FNaF)
Yes - who remembers the old Pizza Time Theaters?
Well those animatronic characters moved at random... Disney wanted a show and wanted the guest to have their full attention on amazing birds...
Rip rainforest Cafe
They still have the peoplemover it's just different. I went on Saturday September 15.
Annabelle F that’s Disney WORLD
DiNgUs
Disneyland is the only place that can bring back instant nostalgia. Went there in the mid 90s as a kid, had a pass when I was 18-19 and the magic semi fades. Now at 35 and having a kid I feel transformed whenever going into the park. Went last year in March and going again in a month or soo. Cant wait. Soo many memories from my past and unlike other theme parks, Disney is almost identical except the new star wars land.
Wow so many secrets at Disney, thank you for sharing them with us!
Kevin is quaking
DressyEye 678098 bring back the people mover and it should tell you facts about the future or something
That makes sense.
You add some puns at the titles like Docking the past
I love your videos! I’m a big fan of Disney and it’s history, so I always look forward to your videos!
You give real facts 👌👌😃

Great video and collab, I loved seeing Yesterworld as I am subscribed to the channel too! I knew a few things here but wasn't aware of the ticket booths so I'll definitely be taking pics of those the next time I go to Disneyland! And my mom, who watched the video with me, wants Rocket Rods back (improved over the original of course) but I gotta go with PeopleMover.
Wow these videos are so awesome every time! 😱
Man, you have GOT to make Disneyland Paris related videos 🙏🙌
