  • This is an original Ikari Warriors machine running the original hardware, and I've beaten it on one coin many times. This video shows one of the few times I've beaten it on not only one coin, but on just one life as well.

I fell into the RUclips and ended up here via a Rick Rude vs Mr. Wonderful match! This is one of my favorite games on the NES

You know, back in the day even the creators of the game said it would be impossible for a human to beat if with a single coin. You not only did it, but without losing a single life. Not even once. Some really impressive skills and reflexes at work here.

Very nice run! Are you running it on a cabinet or do you have a supergun setup with rotary sticks?
I found your video link in the Galloping Ghost Arcade's RUclips channel of my first 1CC of this game. I eventually was able to do a no death run like you did, it was done on the PS4 Arcade Archives digital release: ruclips.net/video/wvfMc8m7RUU/видео.html (apologies for the crap audio in the above link, btw)
That's also a really nice high score you posted the picture of! I've never really tried for anything other than beating the game, but it seems like it's pretty tough to get higher than about 1.4 million or so. What are the best areas to spend your lives to point press (if you don't mind sharing)?
    take care,
    - Pete

Thanks. It's an original/dedicated Ikari Warriors machine (Dynamo HS-1 cabinet) with original Seimitsu LS-30 rotary joysticks.
Nice job on your no-death run. You did it on a PS4... does that mean you didn't use a rotary joystick? I know that there are ways to use rotary joysticks with MAME, but I don't know about a PS4.
The only place you'd want to spend lives while point pressing is at the very end. You can't afford to lose a life once you pass the last red grenade powerup, because without red grenades you'll be doing well just to beat the game at all, and you won't be able to effectively point press because you can't kill many enemies at once without red grenades. I suppose you could sacrifice lives before passing the last red grenade powerup, but I've never done that. Point pressing is just a matter of finding places where the enemies continually respawn and killing them until the alarm sounds and the AI starts shooting high-explosive missiles at you. It's tedious, which is why I don't usually bother with it. I was only doing it when I was competing with my best friend Corey (R.I.P.) for high score over the course of several months about a dozen years ago. He ended up with the highest score, which I've never beaten:
      My highest score: 1,532,300
      Corey's highest score: 1,571,100
Corey's score is the highest score that I know for a fact is legitimate, because I watched him do it. According to Twin Galaxies, Stan Szczepanski got 1,799,000 points in 1987, which I think is BS. Former Twin Galaxies head referee Robert Mruczek thinks it's BS too, which is why he deleted it from the database many years ago, but at some point during a change of ownership, it got reinstated for unknown reasons, which bumped Noah Banwarth's 1,445,700 score down to second place. He thinks Szczepanski's score is BS too.

darklagoon1 Yeah, the gun and grenade buttons are on both sides of the joystick so that you can play left- or right-handed.
