I also want to point it out as Jey in the comment section suggested. Using a lot of widgets can sometimes drain your battery quicker than normal, I haven't notice this myself (iPhone 14 Pro Max) , but maybe due to 1) I have a office job and my phone sits on wireless charger a lot 2) it's a relatively newer model so battery is less of a concern. and 3) The widgets I used don't refresh a whole lot. Your situation may vary so please also consider your use case & battery life before adopting this. As always, thanks for stoping by! Cheers!

I thought I had my phone organized - yes, it's tidy because all my apps are in folders by category. But you have proven that there is a much better way to level up efficiency. My current "system" is neat, but it is NOT helping with productivity & certainly does not minimize distractions. 📱 Thank you so much for putting the time & work into this fantastic video that explains every step so nicely. Although I have an Android, I will be implementing your homescreen concept as soon as possible. Thanks again! 🎉

Great clear detail. I’ve partially set my phone to something similar. I’ve also added automation to trigger the focus modes… for example when I start my car “driving focus” is triggered. When I arrive at work “work focus” is triggered. Takes away the need to touch and look at my phone to change the focus. Your video has prompted me to fine tune my focus screens. Thank you
Thank you for opening my eyes on how to set up my pages and using short cuts. I basically had my home page as a default and a second page with titled folders containing all my other apps. Never thought about setting it up like you have. Much better way to utilize the capabilities of the phone. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Hey @kevzwang, is it possible to add different remainders on the different focus modes of the shortcut app, for example: in work focus mode, you can have remainders for your office stuff. While, in your driving focus mode, you can have remainders to get groceries on your way home?
Interesting idea! I think you can, but it really depends on the reminder app. You can add the same app widget under different focus modes, (For example, notion widget can appear both in work and leisure), then when you configure the notion widget, you can further customize what the widget does. Todoist is the same thing. Although I think it may take a lot of organizing, even if your remind app supports it, you may need to create division inside your reminder app so they show up differently in different focus mode. Definitely an interesting idea though, thanks for the comment!
Thx...very helpful video...one question: Is your default page with the overlook of Shortcuts a focus mode too? When you see the overview with the shortcuts and swipe to the left, does the app media library or the workout page appear?
No. The default mode = all focus mode disabled. If you are seeing all the other focus pages that means you haven't disable them properly. Long press the home page until it wiggles, then press the "..." on the bottom of the screen to select the shortcut page to be visible only... Hope this helps :)
where do you start when you have hide all your apps? how to create the empty homepages and can all the homepages have different wallpapers/background? Your setup is awesome and I want to learn this. After many years I switched from samsung to iphone. So I'm still learning the basics

Can you make a video about how you structure your productivity on Notions as a RUclipsr/content creator? I’m a music artist and content creator trying to organize my ideas and get the most out of time… Love your videos btw, super insightful!!
Finally, some content helps with this. Thank you! I'm confused with one thing. In default mode, the only page you have is the one with the Shortcut widget, or is this the first page and the rest of the apps are on the other pages?
Yea you are right. In default mode there are two pages, the first one being the shortcut widget, the second page is all the rest non time sensitive but useful apps. For me mostly banking and utilities apps
Great video! I immediately set my phone like that! But I have a problem... following your instructions for the "Done" shortcut, it just deactivates the current focus, without going to the default page with all the focus modes. Am I missing something?
Just found it. You need to uncheck all the individual “Focus mode home screens” from the default mode, so when no focus mode is active. Now when you press done it should direct you to the home screen and you should only have the 2 main pages.
@ Just simply on your home screen, go to your first page, hold down your screen till it wiggles, click down in the middle on the „….“ and uncheck all the home screens besides the first two main screens and then click done:)
In shortcut app, find the shortcut you want to make into an icon, click edit your shortcut, then share (upward arrow button bottom right) , then save to Home Screen. Enjoy :)

In setting - focus - scroll down you will see customize screens, where you can set lock, home and apple watch screen separately for each focus mode. Hope it helps, cheers :)
Yes it’s the Apple native calendar app. However I believe there’s an update between now and a 3 weeks ago when the video was made. The view now is slightly different.
Yes Android has focus mode even earlier than iPhone and I think it has even more customization. Unfortunately you may have to google the exact setting guide since I'm not so much of an android expert my friend :D Cheers!
Yes. Just: go into the focus mode you want to edit -> swipe down to search for the app you want to add -> long press and drag it into the home screen -> done. You can have the same app in two focus mode, not an issue :)
Hi yes I looked into it a little bit and I'm certain there's something similar, of course the UI, how you access each mode is different by each OS. Sorry I didn't want to buy a new phone to demonstrate it, maybe in the future. Anyways thanks for stopping by :)
At the time of this video, android phone only has a standard focus mode / do not disturb mode. So unfortunately I don't think it allows for simple setup of multiple pages like this but it may change in the next major updates :) And thanks for stopping by, Cheers :)
@@kevzwang Thanks for taking the time to reply sir! I too only found some basic features, BUT I reorganized my phone and just drag and drop my main focus page for the time I do it. It's close enough for now. Thank you for the inspo!
Because I love this and have set it up, however when i hit 'done'. I end up back to normal with 10 pages, and end up having to swipe around to find the 'central hub'
Hi Andrew. No you don't have to swipe between 10 pages. Here is what you can do: In the default mode, long press anywhere -> press the "dot dot dot " page navigation bar on the bottom, a page of home screen will pop up -> uncheck all the other focus mode pages -> hit done on the upper right corner. -> now your default mode should only have two pages. Cheers :D
When focus mode is turned off: Long press anywhere -> hit the "dotted page bar" on the bottom once -> disable all other pages that don't belong in default mode. Hope it helps :)
Hey, love the video, im actually having some trouble with my done button. Its saying "The action could not run because a focus named ''null' does not exit on this device''. If anyone could help it'll be greatly appreciated🙌
I believe this happens when you changed the name for one or more of your focus modes AFTER having already set up the done button. I'd suggest you to delete the done button and set it up again :)
Love it. Trying to implement but i’m not clear about the default screen (with all utility apps) vs the Done shortcut vs the Central hub. You refer to the central hub as the Default screen sometimes which is also a bit confusing. When you click “Done” what should actually happen, should the central hub be activated or the utilities app screen be activated?
Hey thanks! I know I should probably phrase this better. Here’s the answer: the default mode is essentially what your phone normally is - when all focus mode is turned off… with only one distinction, the default mode should have only 2 screens, one with shortcut widgets, and the other one with a full screen of important apps, all the other screens should be disabled. So say you are now in a focus mode, you should only have one screen of specialized apps, and when you click done, the shortcut let your phone exist your current focus mode, and return to the normal states with only two aforementioned screens, with shortcut widget screen in the front. Hope it helps! Cheers!
Perfect thanks for clarifying! Really love this idea of yours. I saw the other comment that you addressed regarding the battery that will get drained due to all the screens and widgets. I would have thought those widgets go into “sleep mode” when not in use or something right? Again thanks!!
@gmarais1986 Depends on the widgets, he was half right imho. There are some widgets that are resource demanding in the backend because the app itself is on all the time, BUT, how much it drains your battery depends on how frequent the app refresh the displayed data. For example, I don't think my audio book library changes much every day, so having that widget on is really no issue at all. Having a widget display the latest Olympic game score is a different story. In general, if you have a newer phone or use your phone primarily for office work, I really don't think it's a problem but do look into your own situation, can't really speak for everybody :D Try it out yourself and let me know. Cheers!
It's meant to be that way. I guess you put the shortcut widget page in another focus mode home screen. Note that the default mode is NOT another focus mode. Solution: Move the page with shortcuts widget out of any focus mode, only enable it in the "default mode", which is the home screen when all focus mode is turned off. Hope that helps :)
@@kevzwang I finally got it! After setting everything up, when in default mode I didn't "de-activated" all home screens except for the "2s" in the "home screens manager"… Apple noob here! 😅 Thank you!
@@kevzwangI seem to be having the same issue but still don't understand why it's not working 😢😂 I've made sure my "default mode" isn't linked to any focus modes but still, whenever I press done, it still doesn't go back to the widgets page...
@@jordanpuleitu when all focus mode is turned off, long press anywhere, click the dot bar on the bottom, disable every other page except for the shortcut widget. Should work :)

I don’t understand how to make an app appear in both the specific focus mode (couple of apps) and the default mode screen (all my apps)
1. In single focus mode, swipe to the very right to go into app library, search for the app , long press it until it wiggles, drag left and drop it into the focus mode home screen. 2. exit focus mode, when in the default mode home screen, repeat the same process again, only this time drop it in the specific screen. Make sure in your default mode you disable all other focus mode screens.
That was my point :), following the rough steps 1) audit your day 2) design your phone 3) habit stack... this is a general philosophy around using your phone and can be applied no matter who you are and what job you have... I'm not recommending everyone to copy my setup tho, it's meant to be an example. Cheers :D
Hi, well I'm sure some do, I did for the past few months.... it's a big world buddy. Anyway thanks for commenting, sorry that it didn't bring you any value Cheers :D
Holy schlit! You need to have a degree from MIT to set up your day! Just go with it... You'll spend more time creating all these pages and tinkering with them then actually getting anything done. Just live life and enjoy the moment.
9 Pages with widgets will kill a phones battery way way too fast. I won’t be including those in any of my set ups yikes you’re not thinking about the phone not dying through the day
Hey that's fair! And thanks for pointing that out, I will add your point in the description / top comment in this video. But on the other hand that's exactly my point, everyone needs their own system, mine looks like this because most of my day the phone is plugged either in a car, a computer, a camera with a power bank... Everyone's got their own use cases and I think it's awesome you got yours :) Cheers!
@@helok9 In general yes, but "how much more" depends on what widget you are using, how frequent it refreshes in the background and how many is on at any given time. iPhone is pretty good when it comes to kill background app when idle that I don't really think it's that big of an issue. Also the latest phone imho has good battery life for most things I do. I think Jey has a valid point here but everyone's situation is different, I tested my setup since IOS 17 and haven't had issue with battery but your experience may vary. Hope that helps Cheers :)

In setting - focus - scroll down you will see customize screens, where you can set lock, home and apple watch screen separately for each focus mode. Hope it helps, cheers :)
Great video.. one change: your last time block is from 0930pm - 1200pm.. it should be 1200am ;-)
Sharp eye dude! Thanks :D
@@kevzwang any way I can help! Keep up the good content!
Is it native calendar widget at 12:28? I cannot find the daily events and monthly view widget like this one
Yes it’s the Apple native calendar app. However I believe there’s an update between now and a 3 weeks ago when the video was made. The view now is slightly different.
Can i do this on an android phone? Any idea?
Yes Android has focus mode even earlier than iPhone and I think it has even more customization. Unfortunately you may have to google the exact setting guide since I'm not so much of an android expert my friend :D Cheers!
This is great, but I don't work on my phone. Is there any ways to make a setup like this for Mac?
What about apps that need to appear in several instances? Is there a way to place them in different pages?
Yes. Just: go into the focus mode you want to edit -> swipe down to search for the app you want to add -> long press and drag it into the home screen -> done.
You can have the same app in two focus mode, not an issue :)
Hi! Just wanted to ask if you have a tested process for a setup on Android smartphone..?
Hi yes I looked into it a little bit and I'm certain there's something similar, of course the UI, how you access each mode is different by each OS. Sorry I didn't want to buy a new phone to demonstrate it, maybe in the future.
Anyways thanks for stopping by :)
Is there a version of this for samsung? Really, really well done video :)
At the time of this video, android phone only has a standard focus mode / do not disturb mode. So unfortunately I don't think it allows for simple setup of multiple pages like this but it may change in the next major updates :)
And thanks for stopping by, Cheers :)
@@kevzwang Thanks for taking the time to reply sir! I too only found some basic features, BUT I reorganized my phone and just drag and drop my main focus page for the time I do it. It's close enough for now. Thank you for the inspo!
Amazing video! one question though! So when you hit "done" it just turns off focus mode, and then you can swipe between all 10 pages?
Because I love this and have set it up, however when i hit 'done'. I end up back to normal with 10 pages, and end up having to swipe around to find the 'central hub'
Hi Andrew. No you don't have to swipe between 10 pages.
Here is what you can do: In the default mode, long press anywhere -> press the "dot dot dot " page navigation bar on the bottom, a page of home screen will pop up -> uncheck all the other focus mode pages -> hit done on the upper right corner. -> now your default mode should only have two pages.
Cheers :D
@@kevzwang ahhhhh thank you!!! :)
@@kevzwang SUBBED! :)
How do I make the default mode only two pages? When I disable to focus mode it shows all my pages
When focus mode is turned off: Long press anywhere -> hit the "dotted page bar" on the bottom once -> disable all other pages that don't belong in default mode.
Hope it helps :)
@@kevzwang I actually figured it out shortly after making that comment! But thank you for the fast reply!
@@kevzwang - Thank you so much for replying to that question. I was struggling on how you did not have a focus for it. Also, great video!
I'd suggest you to delete the done button and set it up again :)
relatively speaking, i TOTALLY underuse my iphone 😂
@@kevzwang thanks this was clear from your first response as well, but thanks again. Works like a charm now
@gmarais1986 Depends on the widgets, he was half right imho.
Cheers!
The "Done" shortcut just ends the focus mode, without going back to the shortcuts widget page: any thoughts on how to solve it? Btw, awsome video!
Thank you!
Make sure in your default mode you disable all other focus mode screens.
how do I hide the focus mode icon in the status bar.
How to do this in Samsung??
Reach in front of your nearest Apple store and break your samsung phone.🙂
Are the similar features available on Samsung's One UI as well?? If someone can help....
I looked. Unfortunately not yet, theres focus mode but it’s not as simple as iOS
I just clicked on the video and watched it thinking you had like 800k subs and then you have 8k😢 how😮
iam the only one who think the short cut link is super confusing or what?its good video thanks and the rest is easy
Genius.
just a thought, but the mic/audio quality sounds echoey. but good video nonetheless! :)
Yea the room is not sound treated. Working on it! :)
why is the audio so quite
Anybody know how to do this on android?
Is it just me or does the thumbnail move when you scroll?
I basically deleted everything I do not extremely need, put a black wallpaper and left on my Home Screen only the app Things 3
what if everyday is not the same? 😭
That was my point :), following the rough steps 1) audit your day 2) design your phone 3) habit stack... this is a general philosophy around using your phone and can be applied no matter who you are and what job you have... I'm not recommending everyone to copy my setup tho, it's meant to be an example. Cheers :D
Yeah, I settled focus modes some by time and some by place (for example when I leave house) and now it works for me. Thanks for idea! 🔥
lost focus on the video because 10 seconds in i got on my phone 💀
This is crazy. You are making stuff up for the sake of video. Noone lives like that
Hi, well I'm sure some do, I did for the past few months.... it's a big world buddy.
Anyway thanks for commenting, sorry that it didn't bring you any value
Cheers :D
Holy schlit! You need to have a degree from MIT to set up your day! Just go with it... You'll spend more time creating all these pages and tinkering with them then actually getting anything done. Just live life and enjoy the moment.
People are paying so much for these phones
So they should make use of it as mich they wish..at the end its just a machine…
Is this AI generated?
What the fuck is happening with the sound?
Still learning my way around sound recording, sorry for now, Latest video is better :)
iPhone and Productivity don't go hand in hand.
So using widgets will use more of your battery?
@@helok9 In general yes, but "how much more" depends on what widget you are using, how frequent it refreshes in the background and how many is on at any given time.
iPhone is pretty good when it comes to kill background app when idle that I don't really think it's that big of an issue. Also the latest phone imho has good battery life for most things I do. I think Jey has a valid point here but everyone's situation is different, I tested my setup since IOS 17 and haven't had issue with battery but your experience may vary. Hope that helps
Cheers :)
Quitely usefully .. but seriously too much complicated .. or say you dont show it very much step by step way
