    What is something you have fixed instead of replaced? I just saved a ton soldering a new power supply into a great old mixer!
    This mixer has been perfect for years... Until it suddenly died, and has since made a terrible electrical hissing squealing noise. I sent a video of the noise to MusicTribe/Behringer, and they determined that it was a faulty internal power supply. Instead of sending the mixer in, I asked if they could send me the part so I could fix it myself. After agreeing to not having a guarantee because I would be doing the fix myself, they sent me the exact part I needed, which I soldered into the housing and reinstalled into the board.
    The PSU Power Supply Unit costs $58.94 (with $10 shipping). The UFX1604 brand new costs anywhere between $475-575 (it's long since discontinued but still available at some places). I'm not super at math but this repair saved me somewhere around $400 to fix instead of buy new.

    Thanks for taking the time to post this video. My XENYX2442USB mixer recently died and I figured it was a power supply issue because the power light wouldn't illuminate. I have a schematic for the mixer, but unfortunately the schematic doesn't include the power supply. Your video showed me how to access the PS, and your comments about it likely being bad capacitors gave me hope for fixing it. I am a hobbyist, and happened to have the right capacitors on hand. I replaced both 1000uF and both 470uF caps, and my mixer works again. THANKS!!!

    Hey thanks for your suggestion to contact MusicTribe! I also have a UFX1604, which I really love- these are the best AD/DA-Converters I've found in a "budget" (firewire!) audio interface so far, and the power supply failed on me, too.
    In my case I suspect the two caps wrapped in heat-shrink near the transformer, because the others look just fine, but I have yet to desolder and test them...
    Hopefully the folks at MusicTribe still have one of those in stock so I can quickly replace the PSU and fix the old one as spare. Wish me luck :)

    I would replace capacitors on original PSU to some better quality like Panasonic or similar, and maybe even with bigger capacity. For Behringer DDM4000 it made huge improvements.

    Hello .. I need some technical help...I bought a behringer eurorack mx 802a on eBay without powersupply... Based on research the powersupply thst comes with it is 18v for 2 of the pins (xlr) at 800 mah.
    However the powersupplies being sold on eBay for it is 17v for 2 pins at 600mah... Can those eBay power supplies work? Thanks

      Hi! I don't have experience with that mixer or power supply, but I just looked at a similar listing for the same mixer and on the back is a stamp that says "use supplied power supply only." I would hate for it to underperform or worse, go bad because you gave it the wrong voltage or amperage. The Amazon listing also recommends that power supply, but just because other people looked at the listing doesn't mean it's the right one! I'd keep researching it. If other people have had success with it, then maybe that's the answer. I would hate to get it wrong and be out a mixer!

    A couple of things: 1. What did the new power supply cost? I have a Xenyx X1832USB, and it will only put sound out of the Left Main channel. There are other issues with it as well, like the clip light on channel 1 being on all the time. I just posted a video about the issues here: ruclips.net/video/zwRFyyfHU3w/видео.html Looking for some advice. Thanks!

    • @KirkHMiller
      @KirkHMiller  2 года назад +2

      The new PSU cost $59 plus $10 shipping from MusicTribe (Behringer's parent company).
      I don't think yours is a power supply issue because the mixer itself is on. To diagnose the output problem, follow a signal downstream step by step to see where it faults. Plug a monitor into that output that does work... Can you hear an XLR signal when it's plugged input 2 or 3? Can you hear it when it's plugged into Input 1? Does the 1/4" headphone jack work in both sides?
      Also, those Aux outputs might not be working if the Aux sends are turned down. ...but then why would one main out not work when the other does??
      The COMP light being on all the time makes me think that something is shorting out the compressor to make it think there is constantly a signal.
      I don't know exactly. I'm just thinking out loud.

    Good news, It's fixed....... bad news, another issue is looming.... I know that sounds pessimistic, but the "economy" grade parts in these just don't have a great lifespan. I wear a badge that says "Amplifier Technician"........but it should say "Usually replaces electrolytic capacitors". Years 2000-2010 were the WORST for the issue.... Thanks china.
