You know, you are so very rare...the way you let each other speak, don’t talk over one another and the respect you have just shines out of your vlogs! I love you guys..carry on being brilliant! (Another most beautiful little film too by the by 😄) ❤️🐚
Seeing little Aife scrambling over the rocks with such glee and you both helping her, really moved me. Another beautiful video. Hope your crossing isn't too uncomfortable.
What a lovely disposition you both have to bring your daughter up into, its just amazing and i cant think of any better gift to implant in your child, showing her that life isnt just about how much money youve got I think what your doing is so rich and doesnt cost you the earth! Thats the richest thing anyone can have, godbless the 3 of you ❤xxx
thanks so much Dawn, those are truly kind words and it means a lot to us. Its hard in a modern life to not let the pressures of money get to you but hopefully we can navigate that and show Aife an Authentic way of living that lasts with her. 🙏
Unbelievably stunning in every respect. The cinematography, the music, the ethos. I could literally watch your channel all day! And May I say very brave on some of those steep bits. You are an inspiration to people especially with young children to get out there and explore our beautiful country. Fantastic stuff.
Aww thank you so much for your kind words, we're so happy you enjoy them so much, and yes If we can inspire and help families get outside on then that also makes us very happy indeed.👍🙏
Athena, can you please make a video about how you plan these kinds of trips with a small child? What do you take with, how do you deal with the nappies, food, clothes for Aife. How do you keep her entertained on the trail and how did you introduce overnight stays in the wilderness to her. Would love to learn more on how to implement this with my own (future) kids :)❤
Hi Lea, yes for sure we can put something together. over the next coming months we're going to start putting together more informative videos to help more people like yourself. Watch this space!
"Up Mountain", now those are words to live by! Another astounding video. i loved watching Aife negotiating the rocky trail, and asking for help when she needed it. Here in New England we have huts that are run by the Appalachian Mtn Club located in the White Mtns. they were always a great destination when my daughters were very young. As always, thanks for sharing with us.
Ha! yes definitely.. we were saying the other day that staying over night with Aífe in a bothy its the only thing we haven't done so far... Watch this space!
The Shamrock traverse after Robinson's cairn is certainly high octane walking. Completely agree with Harvey's insights to life choices, I gave my 2 daughters the same experiences growing up & they're 25 & 21 now & remember those days fondly. Ennerdale is indeed a wonderfully wild valley with fabulous walking available on both mountain & valley. Aife develops with each video. Love her singing along & over the top of your narration 😆xx
Thanks Michael! yeah she really is grasping words so well at the moment, her mind is exploding and everyday she seems to develop so much, quite incredible to watch. That whole path up past pillar and across. the traverse takes in some really stunning scenery!
Experiencing the beauties of the world together with all family members is truly the greatest wealth ❤️ A great lifestyle choice. Your positive energy is also reflected on us May this beautiful energy multiply exponentially every moment, the world needs this energy 🙏🏻 It was a hope to the world that Aife was raised in this way and it was amazing that there are more images of Oslo in this video ❤️ Love from Turkey ❤️
I was an only child and my childhood was like this too. Climbing mountains youth hosteling and also living in different countries. It’s a good way to grow up and gives you a love of the outdoors and a very green outlook plus an understanding of different ways of life. I’m really enjoying your vlogs and lifestyle and the way your daughter is growing up loving the outdoors. ❤️
thanks so much Sylvia, thats so nice to hear from someone who grew up in a similar way. we constantly to and fro about having another child, thinking Aífe needs a buddy and then happy that we can really focus on her and give her an incredible life.. we shall see!
Harvey's words on the best way to live a good and happy life were so right. I am full of admiration for you both, and it is such a privilege to watch little Aife developing. How well did she manage on those rocks all by herself? ❤
Amazing video. I wonder if Aife will stand in the YHA doorway again when she is on her own adventures in the future. It will be a lovely video for her to look back on. Thanks for bringing us along as always xx
This video has been spectacular from the start, how you have captured such amazing views, I love the back ground music, you have such an eye for filming. You truly are my favourite people that I’ve followed for a while now. Aife and Oslo are both amazing, Oslo leading the way is just incredible. Thank you again for taking us along with all of your adventures and experiences.❤️❤️💐
Thank you Rosanne, We are very lucky to have Both Aífe and Oslo in our life! And we really hope we can keep making our videos better and better for you all over the next few years..🙏
What a fantastic place to take your beautiful little girl Aife and of course the wonderful Oslo Wonderful memories fabulous videos and so look forward to them. Im 62 and would give anytyhing to have my 28 year old son little like Aife again for a while. Times to cherish. xxxx
Have only just found your channel and am enjoying your adventures so much! Lovely to see the ‘real’ Lake District. Your vlogs are so well put together, a perfect combination of content, music, drone footage and atmosphere. Thank you xxx
Another lovely gentle video, thanks for posting it. I loved Harvey's speech about his conversation with Bob and his views on living a life rich in experiences not money. You are both giving Aìfe such a wonderful start in life by seemingly doing just the same. She'll surely grow up far more open minded and grounded with this sort of life. She's an absolute credit to you both.
Wow, such a beautiful and uplifting video! It won’t be too much longer before Afie gets too big for the backpack, and your back Harvey. Just hearing her vocalizing while hiking in the mountains is so sweet. You’re right about this being a lifestyle choice. Thanks for taking me along. God bless your family… 😊
I'll just have to keep training!! we are already trying to work out how we can alter the back pack to get bit more longevity out of it but were little way off that still.. Thanks for watching and so glad you enjoyed it.🙏
Beautiful photography as usual. You’re both really good at capturing the mood and moment. Fabulous family time and walking too. My husband says he’s not seen that exact wonderful 360 view for nearly 40 years ! Which slightly took him aback . He’ll have the maps out tomorrow ! Hope you had a good Easter. 😊
We''ve been watching your videos for years and this is the best one so far. We love watching not just Aife grow, but also you two. Thank you so much for comtinuing to share with us :)
What a great start to my Easter Sunday. Breakfast in bed and watching you latest video. Stunning scenery. Hearing Aife saying "up mountain" when asked where you were all going was heart melting! She is one lucky girl getting all these outdoor adventures. What amazing, precious family time. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Guys.... have you done a blog or would you do!?!?! A blog on trips you've taken with the bike and bike trailer? Would be really interested to know more about where you've been with the trailer. X x x
What a great video, looking forward to your Lake District guide already! What was the rubbish that Harvey picked up on the mountain? It looked massive! So sad to see stuff like that in our beautiful nature. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us :)
Loved the blog!! for me a blast from the past, my wife and I embarked on a trip to climb 60 summits for my 60th , Scotland, England, Wales,Pyrenees. Our trip was rounded off with a few nights wild camping in Cumbria, our last pitch was on the saddle between Great Gable and Pillar waking up on my birthday to sunshine, breakfast overlooking Blacksale pass, now 80 still getting up the hills, (slowly)keep living the dream xx
Oh my word Aífe is talking so much and the words are just incredible and clear...she really is a little star bless her. Oslo just loves everything aswell 🐾 I've recently lost my best friend 😢 he was everything to me and I miss him so much, watching Oslo treck off up that mountain was beautiful and Charlie loved climbing and just being outdoors full stop. He was almost 14 which is a really good age for a Dalmatian especially a male and on the larger size in height. He loved life and lived it to the maximum. You could easy mistake that holiday for being in another country, really fabulous scenery and climes. Have a wonderful Easter all. 🐥
Aww so sorry to hear about Charlie, thats really sad but it sounds like you gave him an amazing life full of memories so thats pretty special and I'm sure he was very happy. All the best to you.🥰
Hi Athena, I really enjoyed this latest video! You perfectly captured one of my favourite parts of the Lakes 👍. Funnily enough, I was camped up near Brandreth that beautiful Monday night and noticed the distinct lights of Black Sail YHA in the valley. Packing away the tent and heading back down to Gatesgarth on Tuesday morning was a sharp contrast in that driving rain! Must have just missed you guys actually ... !!! Thanks for documenting your wonderful adventures, your videos always inspire me 😊 Alison
So glad you enjoyed the video! Its a very special place indeed, must of been lovely camped up near Brandreth, but yes that rain the next day was Intense!🥰
Stunning video! I need to look up how these YHAs work as I've never really considered stopping in one but this looks like something me and hubby would love to do next time we're in the lakes. Thank you so much for sharing your weekend with us! I was just thinking about how Aife will treasure these videos as she grows, likely she wouldn't maintain clear memories of these trips at her age but watching these will bring everything back and remind her what a beautiful upbringing she's having xx
Aww thats such a great point and its one of the reasons we love making videos, especially at the moment while Aífe is young. We can definitely recommend the YHA's there not all the same and the ones in the towns can feel bit more busy but there are some great ones!
Thank you for sharing with us. The views on your hikes were amazing! Love watching Aife sing, talk, walk up and down mountains. Also love the music and Oslo being so confident and content.😊
Aífe is so cute! How she wanted to walk in the mountains. She’s definitely your daughter! 😊. Always good to see Oslo too. Stunning scenery . Happy Easter 💛🌱🐣
That was wholesome, I'm not sure Baa Baa black sheep is the normal refrain heading up Scarth Gap! I wholeheartedly agree with Harvey, Ennerdale is the favourite valley, No cars - fell walkers and mountain bikers only - superb.
So did you manage to see the Isle of Man from the summit of Pillar? Interested because I live there! Your video is really lovely and I enjoyed every minute! Thank you.
🐣Happy 🥕🐇Easter🐥Athena, Harvey, Aife, & Oslo! I loved seeing those 'lil toes waking up. I really enjoyed seeing Ennondale Lake District & found it very inviting, Kind of draws you in feeling. What a beautiful view at the summit. I hope you all have a wonderful week! (I'm ok. My home was totaled last week by intense winds. I miss my views of Mount Rogers & the sunsets. Don't feel bad for me, it's a chance to have something different on my land.) Always enjoy the peaceful feelings i feel after watching your videos Athena. Thank you.
Great video and adventure! Are dogs allowed to stay at the Black Sail? We stay at YHA all the time and have done so for years even when our daughter was little but since our dog joined our family 3 years ago we can only stay at YHA if just I or my husband go on mini adventures with her and the other stays home with the dog, which is such a shame. It was great to see Oslo joining you also in the YHA.
I’m afraid they aren’t! We were a bit stuck for what to do with Oslo this time as our stay was wedged between two trips so we asked and they said as the room has its own door to get in, they wouldn’t mind him staying 😊
“Setting the tone of (Aife’s) life” - beautifully said Harvey 🙂🌿🏔

Aife and Harvey singing was just the cutest thing ever 😭
Loved when Aife said "well done" to herself 🥰

I don't recall radiators at Black SailHut when I stayed there 45 years ago! Such a beautiful wild spot and you filmed Pillar in particular beautifully
Thanks Tim! yeah Black Sail is luxurious now compared to its humble beginnings!
This looks amazing - what a fantastic trip! How were you able to take Oslo? As they don't usually allow dogs?

Aife is becoming a great little hiker under the tutelage of Athena and Harvey (and Oslo too!). 🦉🪶🦅
