The Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group founded and runs Lotus', a retail chain in Thailand that was formerly known as Lotus Supercenter, Tesco Lotus Supercenter, and Tesco Lotus. After acquiring Tesco Malaysia in 2020, the company expanded to Malaysia.
The Lotus Supercenter chain was founded by the Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group in 1994, with its first location opening in Seacon Square. "Tesco Lotus" was created in 1998 when the British grocery store chain Tesco purchased a portion of the Lotus Supercenter chain. In 2003, CP Group sold the majority of its remaining Tesco Lotus shares.
Tesco Lotus stores are currently available in the following five formats: Talad, Express, Department Store, Hypermarket, and Extra. Fresh food, prepared foods, and groceries are sold in the Extra, Hypermarket, and Department store formats.
