The Thai dish that you were making does use basil but not the type of basil that you are growing. In Australia the basil you are using is Italian basil which has a sweetness to it but the correct basil is called Holy Basil. It characteristic is that it is more peppery and the leaf is different as it is a darker green with a purplish tinge on one side. I don't know what it is called else where. But seeing as you put chilli and green onion you shouldn't affect the final dish too much. You could also have added a lot of black or white pepper. Either way it looked delicious! Just a little bit of trivia as that is how we all learn from each other especially in cooking. I absolutely love watching your ordinary days! 🥰

greetings from thailand 💖 i’m glad to see you try out thai dish. there is another delicious menu which use basil as ingredient, stir-fried pumpkin with pork belly and basil. it is made of fried-pork belly stir fried with pumpkin and some basil. we also adding egg in and stir-fried it together until cooked. it is seasoned by some oyster sauce, soy sauce and fresh-grind black pepper. this is according to my mom’s recipe. i hope you’ll enjoy this one.
