By the time James Holzhauer gets there, he will win more money than Ken Jennings on an inflation-basis. For now, he is about a million short of that milestone.
Yeah, it took him 40 less games to almost reach Ken's final total of money from back then. That's what is so amazing about his streak aside from the encyclopedia of a mind he appears to have with how he's been nailing those clues most of the time.
Stones throw away? He would have had to win 42 more games to break the days record. Will it ever be done by someone? Never say never but we won't see it for a long time.
Let's not forget Brad Rutter. When he played the rules didn't let him keep returning, and his only loss came when playing Watson and Ken. I would love to see James, Ken and Brad go at it. Watson won and they both lost. Doesn't matter who got 2nd when a computer can buzz in super fast. Brad has never lost ...to a human. He has beaten Ken over and over.
Rutter is very underrated pop-culture wise, but I think he's the best since he beat Jennings in a tournament. Ken Jennings though is a better marketer and his name sounds better. Brad could work on his marketing skills a little more.

Here after we've lost Alex, but I really wanted to add to the topic of discussion: one of the best rule changes in any game show, in history, is when Jeopardy eliminated the 5 game limit for returning champions and allowed it to be open ended. You come back for the next game so long as you keep winning. That really opened up the appeal to the show and brought in more viewers. As long as that old rule was in place I could never understand their reasoning. If you won 5 games in a row you were done no matter what. There were a lot of contestants in the 80s and 90s who were unquestionably good enough to continue on long past 5 games, because quite a few hit that limit.
