    I'm so excited for the future they've shared! I watched the key note live, and for the volume of new and exciting topics, you did great summarizing! Thank you!

    Hi Tim, Thanks for this great recap! Do you know if language translations based on user preference settings will be applicable for Server, as well as Cloud? (as part of the "Attribute Based Access Control for Content Access" that was mentioned?)

      For clarity, this feature is called user attribute functions and enables you to react dynamically to user attributes from outside of the product. We showed localization as one example use case. As Tim noted, this requires your having the data already localized, and (in this example) you could select the data to display based on the user’s locale.

      Have a video on user attribute functions. ruclips.net/video/pomlCFagVss/видео.html This should be agnostic but might come later just because of the split cadence for server being every other release.

    My pet peeve continues to be demos of products with zero clarity about the licensing aspect i.e. 'old' Tableau Devs on Stage used to be well received as everyone got everything, whereas now there's a cloud hanging over every feature as no one is sure whether they will be able to use it

      It was actually very clear but maybe only to deeply embedded users. There’s probably more they can do to label the features by license. The roadmap was clear about the products. Here’s my read. Anything for prep or desktop is always going to be creator led. Pulse works for everyone. Copilot works for all creators, cloud management and tableau cockpit will likely be part of advanced management or data management, I call that out in the video and devs on stage a lot of that is coming in the standard licensing model. Creator explorer or viewer. I’ve got a ton of videos that cover licensing by product. Check out my tableau desktop crash course it’s the first thing I cover for the entire platform.

    I am curious about pulse. Tbh, I don't have the tech in the organization to back me up

    29:55 ....just fyi not 50% faster than a Windows machine. He said if you are using Tableau on a Apple Silicon machine right now then the upcoming native Apple Silicon version will be up to 50% faster than the current MacOS version which is basically another way of saying the current version on MacOS runs really poorly since it has to use Rosetta 2 to translate the x86 code to Apple Silicon code. Good to see they finally did this considering how many times I see them demoing Tableau on MacOS

      They always use the browser which I find interesting and a signal about the future. Thanks for the clarity.

      This is correct. I tried to be precise with the wording but I knew we ran the risk of misunderstanding.

    really ? I thought it was boring and dumb -- and SO LAME -- they tired so hard to get everybody excited with the clapping and cheering and dumb jokes -- they only good thing out of the keynote was local saves for tableau personal

    there was not single round of applause during the future vision section, it bombed in the room hard. they need to make big changes to the keynote format. the room layout for one. watch the back of someone breaks all engagement

    I think the translation bit, something to do with user attribute functions ? so is that like user preferences ?

    • @TableauTim
      @TableauTim  5 месяцев назад +1

      have a video explanation here : Tableau User Attribute Functions (UAFs) | New in Tableau 2023.1
      ruclips.net/video/pomlCFagVss/видео.html my thought is it’s toggling a data source with translation pre done

      @@TableauTim ah right, that makes sense. Or theres a new UA for language and it translates on the fly ?
