    I had the EXACT same sternum discomfort for months..after an endoscopy I found out it was just a simple annoyance of the stomach lining. (gastritis). My anxiety was gone in a day because i knew it wasnt cancer! I had the lump in the throat syndrome also for months, my gf called it my throat monster. Its called (Globus Hysterectus) and as soon as i educated myself to understand that the brain can actually manifest physical symptoms from anxiety. The lump in my throat went away in 2 days because i wasn't worried about it anymore. I've been trying the "cancel-cancel" technique and forcing myself to think and interact the physical real world instead of fears of what may or could be... thank you so much for helping people. PEGGY!! and #2 ha~!

    I have had severe HA for 5 years after which it slowly dissipated. What helped me was realizing that I’m dealing with a mental health issue, this realization happened after the cycle repeated enough times, for example I would have a sensation in my chest and I’d obsess over it for weeks after which the obsessions would shift to another part of my body like the brain or stomach etc. and recycle. Noticing these shifts and that I have survived these obsessions(what I feared didn’t come true) made it as plain as the nose on my face that it’s my mind that’s out of wack. Of course the problem didn’t end there, but that was the beginning of the end. I brought an end to it one night when I was obsessing over insomnia, that I have it and that I’ll die from it, on my fourth sleepless night I was in complete horror, I laid there looking at the ceiling not knowing what to do, then I whispered to myself that I don’t care if I die, and I meant it.. this managed to break the loop for a time being, and when the same thoughts arose I didn’t react in any way, I felt free and blank and fell asleep in 30 minutes. What helped me overcome these irrational fears and obsessions was first of all understanding that they’re irrational, and then challenging the anxiety to kill me, telling it to bring it on and prove itself for once, try it and you’ll see that these fears don’t add up to much…

    Peggy 2! My 'health' anxiety centers on one unavoidable fact: I'm aging. And, as Douglas inferred, things happen when one gets older. A bit about me: I am a depression and anxiety survivor - as well as a chemical abuse survivor.
    Additionally, I've been in a pretty serious funk over my job lately. And get this: my job is working with people struggling with both mental illness AND chemical dependency issues. Oh, the irony. Especially the mental illness aspect as I've been sober for about 1 1/2 years - but that is still a major challenge as well.
    A friend once told me it is not healthy to constantly give of oneself unless one also takes - takes time to recharge and renew.
    I found this video helpful. I feel there are some things I can 'take' from this session. I understand I need to develop some new habits. Thank you, both, for what you do! JD

    Thank you for this video. Totally relate to what Noah has talked about regarding this topic. I also had an episode very similar to what he described , it also related to alcohol abuse and a bodily symptom not experienced before. I googled for hours about it while my level of anxiety continued to rise and I started to imagine even more possible horrible possibilities! It’s extremely debilitating and for me, became extremely obsessive. I’d wake in the morning with a sense of dread ( because while the original symptom, a pain in my left rib, didn’t go away for a time) , now I started to imagine that I’d overlooked other symptoms that pointed to a diagnosis of pancreatitis or worse yet, pancreatic cancer! During my obsessive googling, I stumbled upon something that led me to believe that it might not be my pancreas at all, but might ,in fact, could just be my spleen. Reading further, I discovered, to my horror, that an enlarged spleen ( maybe the reason for the rib tenderness and pain) can actually be an indication of a blood disorder, such as lymphoma! This craziness lasted for more than a week. The pain in my side is , thankfully, gone, but I was only able to get beyond this anxious bout by exercising, meditating and listening to RUclips videos such as this, which are immeasurably helpful. I’ve had health anxiety before but not to this degree, so it took some effort to rein it in. Peggy!

I did exactly as you did.. like googling symptoms, thinking about my lifestyle, these medical conditions that my dad had back then blah blah and guess what I came to a conclusion that I'm having pancreatitis!!😂..man I started suffering mentally and like you said it began to devastate me in every way possible, until I watch this video, you guys have no idea that how much I'm grateful for about your guidance in overcomin mental issues Mr.Bloch (Peggy) and Noah, I'm forever in your debt ❤️

    peggy!!! thanks for this guys. ive spent my whole live running from always feeling sick.. deep rooted fear of death yet I continued to smoke pot and try to be care free like everyone else. always needed a drug in my body to make me get out of my anxious mind.. lots of trauma from being sick which made me more sick and a neverending cucle of despair because I am scared to die. I actually have nerve damage to mt lingual nerve which really sucks. and have .. a dentist screwed me up and I had infection run up my jaw and they cut it out of the side of my face but for someone with an anxiety disorder the ramification of it were terrible. so now I am beginning my journey with therapy and support. I am fearful of medications but they can help with my condition. it is so hard to distiguise was is my real pain now and what is caused my my anxiety from the pain> so it is a combination of therapy and medicine and courage. ive been scared my whole life and it is time to heal the body as much as I can thru the mind with proper nutrition meditation and acceptance... this will take as long as I takes.. one day at a time..I am an addict in my mind and always will be an must understand that.. the only thing worse than my addiction is my fear. starting therapy in 2 weeks... thank you so much guys and god bless...

    Thank you for sharing this. I think I may have experienced something similar with dental/oral heath. I believe(d) they are rotting and falling out of my head for some reason, to the extent that I would go back and forth between over-cleaning and under-cleaning/avoiding it depending on which side of the extreme I was on.

It has kinda helped me. But the anxiety is still there. I take 3mg bromazepam every day. I worry I have MS, ALS, brain cancer or tumor, etc. I've literally worried about every rare and scary disease. I have this obsession that whenever I read about some writers or artists who killed themselves, (MY latest obsessions are David Wallace and Ryunosuke Akutagawa) I become intensily afraid that one day I might also get fed up with everything and seriously contemplate suicide. Ruminating about this makes it hard to enjoy life. Btw, I am treated for existential depression, or at least that's what I think I have, and obsessive thoughts by using medications but up until now I have not been seriously suicidal, just suffering from fear that I might not be able to endure my condition and end up like those people. Any insight on my condition would be greatly appreciated!

    • @DouglasBloch
      @DouglasBloch  5 лет назад +2

      It would be good if you were seeing a therapist on a regular basis to talk about this. Your fear of suicide is may be a phobia. If you create a safety plan with your therapist, it could relieve your fears. For example, if you really felt that you were going to harm yourself you would go to the hospital to stay safe.I am currently writing a book on suicide prevention

    • @tornikegavasheli8732
      @tornikegavasheli8732 5 лет назад

      @@DouglasBloch I don't see how a therapist would solve my thinking that everything is pointless and meaningless. I mean I am on antidepressants and have a psychiatrist but it no longer helps. I am starting to think that existential depression is uncurable and actually 'normal' if you would my call suffering that. Anyway, thanks for your response, it means a lot. I hope I can hold on long enough for some relief to arrive.

    Time, intention. I wish there was a support group close to LA. It’s needed. I need it. The anxiety I feel is debilitating. My whole life I wanted to be a an actor, a working actor on tv and film. Right now life is challenging with wonderful kids and my loving husband. The bills and debt all of a sudden overwhelmed me in January and on top of that I have had 12 episodes of depression. I decide I could binge on wine if of November and December. Eeeek! And then my hormone doctor gives me Doxycycline for Acne. Well after two weeks I plummeted in severe depression. I think of all the worse scenarios. Never making it as an actor and don’t have any energy right now for it. And that financially well you get the picture. Dark thoughts. Suicidal thoughts. I feel like my dreams are gone. I don’t know my purpose. I feel silly. I used have a lot of makeup clients. I am an amazing makeup artist and now nothing. But then I think could I do it even I got a gig? I need to heal. Please help Noah and Doug. I need hope. I just can’t believe I am here again. It makes so sad and angry and the anxiety starts sometimes without a thought just BAM!!! It hits!!! I force myself out of bed. I take .05 Ativan at night. Finally at night I feel calmer. During the L-Thea ine. I have crying spells about 7 times a day. I thought the Lexapro would help along with Pristiq. And at night I take Lithium. Sometimes I think this is too much. I am also trying TMS. God give me joy and wellbeing!
