- If you were in New York City and Newark Tuesday around noon and you looked up at the sky you were in for a special treat.
The Thunderbirds and Blue Angels flew in formation over New York City and Newark this Tuesday.
"Operation America Strong" paired the US Navy's Blue Angels and the Air Force Thunderbirds in a coordinated flyover. The effort served as a salute to healthcare workers and first responders on the frontlines of the pandemic.
U. S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds flew over Stamford Hospital and Tully Health Center in Stamford, Connecticut, today. Thank You and God Bless America. Amen.

I’m a doctor and nobody at the hospital care . Instead of using the money to get us the stuff we need they instead used the money to do this bullshit fly overs . FYI I’m a former Air Force officer

It was touching to hear about from one of the pharmacists I was working with that day. We were inside filling scripts and he mentioned the fly over happening in the city. It makes us all feel appreciated, even those of us who work in pharmacies and who aren't thought of as much. But it was amazing to hear about. I love this tribute.

If you are not anti-military, then you understand what a "commercial" is. To sell a product, you advertise. The big difference for the military from public business is that the marketing money is already there. I don't know if you understand that the United States Military is a completely volunteer organization. We can save the money used for advertising and just make military service mandatory, like most of the rest of the world.

The F16s cost roughly $20k per flight hour; but the various bombers also participating cost anywhere from 40k to 122k per hour to fly; a shit-ton of money that could be spent on PPE and additional healthcare workers to relieve the overworked and understaffed hospital workers. Even the military magazine Task&Purpose thinks this "feelgood" exercise is a classic example of misplaced priorities. The Pentagon defends the spending by saying the funding had already been baked into their budget, and that the pilots need to keep up their proficiency skills; but we are fighting a different kind of "war" now, and the military needs to figure out how to be part of the solution.

Easily cost several millions in training, fuel, parts, salary per diem and support crews. Nothing the military does comes cheap. Waste of money. Give it to the people that are out of work and trying to make mortgage payment and buy food.
young link ground crews, probably 100k in fuel, flight control, repairs to aircraft... they traveled from NYC to Phili, and did several run around . Those aircraft are not cheap to operate, not cheap at all
a 1 I’ll try to work out the per hour cost of operation, my pops worked on planes in the DOD, and my grandfather was an experimental aircraft pilot. It ends up being a stupid ass amount, and it looked like 12 planes they had. We rarely fly that many for combat at one time these days

Waste of money and resources. The military spent over $10 mil to put on a show. For What? Why not give the 10 mil to the people that need it or a bonus to the medical care providers. I would do otax-exemptand say they are tax exempt for this year. Also the military, instead of sitting around, should be sent to the farms to harvest and get crops to those that need food. Put the military to work for the American People at home not on overseas adventures.

@@paulmiller4150 nope, my opinion did not change. We are a country with 28 trillion in debt. Our education. Health care and infrastructure systems are third world because we spend 3/4 of our discretionary budget on the military which has not won a major conflict since WW 2. Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan... Plus blue angle pilots and acft don't fly in combat. Save the money and use it drive down the debt or for something with tangible return to the taxpayer rather than an air show which is nothing more than optics. Better yet the money saved give it to the first responders and health care workers who are fighting COVID-19...the pilots are not.
@@globetrotternews Actually, The Blue Angel and Thunderbird Pilots ARE Combat Fighter Pilots prior to becoming Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. They come out of the "Grey World" (as we call it) and when they're done their 2 year deployment, they go right back into the grey world. I have had many friends come and go to this team. They don't just do this for all of their career unfortunately. They are highly experienced combat pilots. Many who are decorated vets with medals as well as distinguished flying crosses for their outstanding hard work.
@@globetrotternews I know the Flight Doc on this team and earlier in July, the squadron had several COVID-19 Cases. He was responsible for treating those who had it, testing all members of the squadron as well as all 135 folk's families as well as contact tracing and making sure the team is up to date and following the CDC's guidelines. Do you see him saying to boss "Get us PPE instead of this stupid flyover"? No! Why? Because PPE is merely a production issue and not a funding issue. Educate youself.

These demonstrations are the USAF's most visible asset as well as one of the best recruiting tools to build a better, greater and more capable Air Force. These shows show the general public that this is what the USAF Is Capable of and this is why the military may be a great career choice. They are not just for show. They serve a purpose. Just like everything else in the world. What happened in 2013? There was a massive sequester caused by President Barack Obama. He slashed their funding and they were not able to do their mission. Look at the numbers, there was a fighter pilot shortage since around that time relatively and also, they were not able to recruit future airmen, or even retain those in the service. Our military would go to absolute $h!t if we cut their funding and wanna talk about not being able to win, China and North Korea would be the world's leading military, not us. Is that really what you want?
