Very helpfully ty. Thought i had done something wrong when I tried to pull the bell housing. Thanks for pointing out that I needed to unbolt something inside. Wierd design on this trans
Love the series man! In the market for one of these currently. Such a shame where I live in the North East these cars pretty much don't exist. Any advice for a first time buyer of an aw11?
Hey sorry for the slow reply, we just added a new member to the family (a human this time) so things have been a little wild. As for advice, hard to say these days, a clean chassis at a reasonable price used to be easy to find, now not so much. I'd say the usual "old car stuff", check for rust, unibody damage, severe crash repair, etc. Specific to AW11's? Be sure of what you want, and where you want the car to be. There are few greater things than taking the T Tops out and going for a rip, but maybe you want something more track focused and prefer a hardtop? It's getting much, much harder to find quality interior components, and other stock replacement parts, so buy the cleanest one that you can, and treat the plastic very carefully. The most important piece of advice I can give however? Make sure you buy one that you WANT to drive. The joy of these cars is using them, feeling what Toyota was in the 80's, and you can't do that looking at a pristine example that you are too afraid to drive out of the garage. My 85 has it's fair share of bumps and bruises, it's a clean car, but the slight amount of wear helps me push the rarity of these cars out of my mind and just enjoy the drive.
my 89 literally just did the same thing, this is godsend
Just got a aw11 mk1b na.
Trying to fit a lsd to it.
Keep the vids coming!

Yea it's a funky setup. Technically, Toyota doesn't want you to do it this way, but, as you see, it can be done!
Thanks for the quality content, mate
Thanks!
