This usually talked about in competitive shooting, or trainers in shooting firearms talk about this a lot. Glad u coming out with outta the box Content.
That doesnt prove anything is genetic, actually the fact it doesnt always happen, and is actually rare, is sorta evidence its not genetic. It happens less than you think, and there is a more obvious explanation than genetics, being that children grow up in an environment where they are exposed to more and at a younger age than anyone else, they get better coaching at a young age, so they are competing at a higher level, higher level competition is the nest way to improve etc. People claim all sorts of things are genetic, like being overweight, when there is no evidence that it is
I usually don’t comment on videos, but I had to take the time and say this series is amazing… please keep at this content and just keep doing you. Been following you since Ghosts and been a huge fan since :)
@@cody5021 it's also just very hard as a left handed person unless you've played on a joy stick since you were under 10 years old. You now have to aim with your non dominant hand

BROOOO the whole closing my eyes thing and seeing which one was lined up tripped me out so bad. hahaha. Left eye dominate and right handed lets goooo. going to ego chal everything in ranked tonight
This was extremely insightful, I've never broken down anything to this level when it comes to Call of Duty, this was a great watch and I can't wait to see more science that can go into what makes someone have the edge over others genetically and scientifically speaking.
There was a Drift0r video about eye dominance back in BO3 I remember. Eye dominance importance also applied to me in baseball, when I would hit righty, everything seemed natural and the ball would feel closer when I would go to hit. When I would try lefty, the ball appeared so far away and unnatural to hit. I don't know how switch hitters do it.
I have heard of methods such as one sided gradient glasses or an eye patch that can be used to correct eye dominance. Its a common practice in archery/target shooting and also the military has been known to use this method which can be be corrective in under a day for some. Not sure about long term implementation but its definitely an interesting discussion.
Pls make this into a series I know its a channel called like Esports Science that talk about things like the "Flow State" and how to tap into that but I really liked this video because I had a conversation with an older lady who is interested in the science of esport yesterday so this video honestly explains a lot of underlying things that could give you an edge
Would be dope that in future releases they implement switching gun model to the left and even minimap position. I’m sure a lot of people would be able to play at their best that way
This may be a strong correlation but it''s not causation. You would have test this in a lab setting with control group to validate this. Also, does this mean if the map, kill feed are sent to the right side of the screen and weapon shouldered left that the inverse is true.
Crim can you make an episode on thumb placement on the right stick, i recently have thought about basketball players and shooting form and how some players with bad form can practice 10000 times a day and still not be able to shoot that good with bad form, i feel like thumb placement is literally never talked about so it would be a huge thing to leanr how most cdl pros place there thumb on the right stick and see if theres a common thread to the guys with the best aim in the game.
This comment is very interesting to me for starters I'm an xbox player I think that's important to say to understand this on the left trigger I had my finger on the side of the trigger on the xbox controller there's a little bump on the side of the trigger for some reason and my finger was there instead of over the top of it and because of that it didn't stretch the joints in my hands as much and made me be able to go back and forward quicker which actually helps a lot because I play infected and staying out of melee range is important I also used to have my right hand positioned up really high on the controller instead of gripping it all the way and it felt like I had quicker time to move my stick around to track people all though as I could track faster it wasn't as accurate so even though sometimes it had the advantage in gunfights it wasn't consistent enough so I stopped doing that and now I play claw and even though u just move one finger because the way you move your finger it makes the joints in ur hand less stiff so u have much more precision on ur right stick it almost feels like aiming on mouse so claw is op and not because of the thing about aiming while jumping that's old lots of ppl have paddles now for that kind of thing but basically my point is it matters a lot how u position ur hands on parts of ur controller and I have never seen anyone talk about it
Brilliant vid. Sad that I am right handed and right eye dominant. But I can live with it. I hope you will make a video about genetics/reflexes = skills. I bet all pro players inherently have better reflexes than lower skilled players. That is a subject I would love to hear more about from your perspective. I did practice with aim trainers for a bit and my reflexes ingame improved.
i was born left eye dominant, but when i started to compete in archery, i wore an eyepatch on my left eye for a month, after that, i have been right eye dominant, im not sure if there is a "learning time" like language for example. (after about 10 years if you have no language skills, you will never acquire them, case study; genie) but i believe its possible to switch. i will run my own experiment over the next 2 months
We had to do this EARLY in the military when we first went to weapons training. Im left eye dominant and right handed. There were like 5 or 6 of us like that out of 150. 3 of us scored in the top 5
Double righty, im a demon in cod, monitor is indeed slanted right i didn't know why that was the case but now i know. Great insight C6. Gunna start playing lefty mode in cs and val now
TIL that I do not have a dominant eye. I did the centering a distant object with your hands test, and when I close my left eye, the object appears to be more on the right instead of the middle, while if I close my right eye, the object is then more to the left of the center.
Good knowledge for sure but that leads to one very important question: is eye dominance learned by repeated action? For example, if you're always peeping the mini map, will you adapt?

I always wondered how people can look at their minimap and still be aware of if an enemy comes out behind cover at the same time. I’m right hand right eyed
Well they’re not really looking at it long they just quickly take a milli second to look at map then back to game and just keep doing that so you can be aware off both
I think there is a fix for that, I’m naturally right eye dominant, but I can feel from playing cod so heavily past year that my left eye is so much more clear and focused now
This is super interesting but now I want to know the actual percentage of pro players that are left eye/right hand dominant. Might just all be theory and not matter THAT much in practice?!
