I love how they refuse to give credit or admit that the only reason this got on their "radar" in the first place was a random US citizen that spotted the balloon and posted video of it on social media.

Balloons have a very low radar reflection signature and our radar is not programmed to look for things in the sky that are not metallic, otherwise flocks of birds would set off alarms. We have learned a lot from following the big balloon across the USA which is why we have found them in previous years.

Yes and no. Obviously there have been many reports in the past about objects that were difficult or impossible to identify. However there was often not enough information to do thorough investigation on them which is why they ended up as sightings of things that could not be classified. Did anyone else hear him say "briefing from last August" why weren't the radar systems "tuned in" since last August and the briefing about these issues last August
Well, the simplest answer is because they know they're just balloons in cardboard boxes, basically. They've known about these things for a long time but have never seen them as a threat or dangerous. Only when the public gets worried about spy balloons all of the sudden, then the military/Government has to start checking out every bump in the night to show they're keeping us safe. If the public wasn't ignorant to what these really are then there wouldn't be an issue. But everyone is scared of Chinese balloons now so... My wife had a scary incident with a person outside our house once, and now, every time the dogs bark she expects me to go outside and check. Before the incident I never had to go check. That's all this is. To appease the public.
That means that where a blip on a radar might have been previously ignored, now they are raising their awareness and tuning the radar parameters to look for slow moving- high altitude objects.

Realistically speaking…if the government found that these crafts have an extraterrestrial origin would they disclose that information publicly or just make something up? How could we know if they are lying?
That's a great question. They will probably present some type of drone that they created and say that is too damaged to tell who made them 😒
I wouldn’t care if it were extraterrestrial as long as they’re completely alien to what we know; that’s the central point.
The govt is very bad at lieing. There’s always holes. Like this for example. Aircraft have radar in then and can detect things like this. Also if these objects are at say 40,000 ft the civilian aircraft can just be told to fly at 35000 while in the general area. Like there are way better ways to deal with a floating balloon than spending millions of dollars tk shoot it down. Which how you know they’re lieing. Surely, there is a need for a high-altitude retrieval procedure and appropriate equipment for successful complete retrieval!
I love how they refuse to give credit or admit that the only reason this got on their "radar" in the first place was a random US citizen that spotted the balloon and posted video of it on social media.
Cool story bro 🤣
Did they do the same when 3 balloons entered U.S. airspace during the Trump administration?
Not sure if this is really the (only) reason
"On their 'radar'?" Nonsense! It's a need to know basis. I trust the military to decide if there are really threats that I can't see myself; moreover, I'm not concerned about every little fly that buzzes above my head.
Balloons have a very low radar reflection signature and our radar is not programmed to look for things in the sky that are not metallic, otherwise flocks of birds would set off alarms.
