I'm Australian, so I'm obviously biased... but being Australian also means I've been following Johnny Furphy's progress for the past few years.
I've been trying to tell any American hoops fan that will listen..... Johnny Furphy is going to be a star in the NBA.
He's extremely athletic, defends well, passes well, shoots well, plays above the rim, and is an absolute jet in transition.
I heard Jay Williams compare him to Mike Dunleavy Jr.... but he's WAY more athletic than Dunleavy was. Better comps for Furphy are Franz Wagner, Trey Murphy III , and a young Gordon Hayward.
I'm telling you now.... Furphy is going to be a weapon!

Hello, my Australian friend. I’m listening!! And I agree. I’ve been screaming at the TV hoping somehow Coach Self would hear me, LOL. Because I’ve been wanting Self to start Furphy for some time now. In fact, I’ve been telling other Kansas fans that JOHNNY FURPHY is going to be a STAR!! At this point, he’s much better than El Marko Jackson who Self has kept starting ….until the last two games. El Marko needs more time, but Furphy is ready.
Johnny Furphy is the REAL DEAL!! Furphy….as you say…..is very athletic, fast, long, and he can shoot. Playing Furphy at least 30 minutes a game completely changes (in a good way) the outlook for Kansas. If Furphy keeps playing like this, Kansas will win the 2024 NCAA National Championship.

Not the stiffest competition KU will face in the next few weeks, but a taste of what this team can be with a more seasoned, more confident bunch of newcomers. Furphy promises to give the Hawks the outside threat they’ve been lacking in that 2/3 position, and we can hope that will make for more scoring chances for everybody. Other newbies young and old need to step up.
