    I'm now looking at mid-size cruisers with low seat height, and forward foot pegs. My old knees don't like being bent backwards for very long. Going to see a new Bolt R-spec at a dealer asap. Yeah, the Bolt handles alot diff than ur Street Twin. Not as nimble. Good save in the parking lot, no droppies!!

    I agree! I've owned and ridden many bikes, and I can safely say you started on one of the best. The Street Twin is easy to ride, and extremely well built. I currently daily a 22 SpeedTwin, and I love it!
    Ride Safe, and enjoy the trip!

      Right! I’m so glad I went with the street twin for my first bike! The speed twin is a great choice! I bet that’s a fun daily commute.

    One thing that really helped me was going out to some demo days and riding everything! From the tall ADV bikes to the heavy huge goldwings and indians that are 800+ lbs, to the cruisers and uprights, the liter naked bikes and full fairing sport bikes. Really grew me as a rider.

      That's really great advice! My goal is to definitely do that.

    I didn’t ride anything but my street twin after I bought it. I can’t really compare it to anything else. Impressed.
    The PCH is definitely on my to do list.

    Riding other bikes is always a fun experience to find out what you do and don't like. I love the approach you took in the parking lot of getting familiar with a new bike before getting on the road. Very wise!

      @@moto_des everything triumph makes is confidence inspiring. I have owned two sense 97 and test ridden just about everything they have made sense then. Everything has been made in such a way that you can trust the bike. Your bike is excellent for a beginner but offers more as you twist the throttle and push more. After that it's a matter of having a shop that will work with you. For me it's shop first, bike second hahaha

    There is an ex-motorcycle cop named Jerry Paladino with a video series called, "Ride Like a Pro," in which he teaches how to confidently handle low-speed turns with even the heaviest bikes. It's worth watching. Basically, you want to use the friction zone while dragging the *rear* brake to stabilize the bike, and even U-turns become much easier, no matter what you're riding (but that Street Twin is definitely a great match for you).

    • @moto_des
      @moto_des  Год назад

      I will check it out, thanks! I've been wanting to take another course and work on low speed drills.

    What, all the way out to Cali and you didn't cruise Mulholland? Next time you're out there take a run over the Supulveda pass. When you get to Ventura Blvd, go left (north) till you get to Topanga, left again to Mulholland, then right. Mulholland is a fantastic twisty road usually loaded with other bikers on weekends. Stay on Mulholland till you come to The Rock Store (about 20 miles), a well known motorcyclist stop for decades. It's not uncommon to see TV & Movie personalities like Jay Lenno, Fabio, Matt LeBlanc, etc at the Rock Store. When done there continue north on Mulholland to Kanan Rd, go left and ride all the way down to PCH, then right and cruise PCH up to Neptunes Net for some lunch. When done head south on PCH for a nice long ride along the coast back to Venice or Santa Monica. A nice combo of twisties and ocean front scooting.
    Carry on...

    • @moto_des
      @moto_des  Год назад

      I know! I didn’t feel comfortable with turns on this bike and I was limited on time that day.
      I have driven Mulholland a lot in the car though. It’s a beautiful route. Next time I’m back I should just rent my street twin and ride it.
      Neptune’s is great too.

      @@moto_des Ah, makes sense. You don't wanna be rushed and not confident on the scoot you're riding.
      My all time favorite ride is to Santa Barbara. Take PCH up to Oxnard where you have to jump on the 101 fwy. Get into Santa Barbara and check into what used to be Fess Parker's Red Lion (I don't know if it's still under that name). Check room rates after 10:30am, any available rooms at that time are discounted BIGLY! Get a room, empty stuff on bike into room, begin ride over the mountains behind Santa Barbara to the Sana Ynez Valley. Cruise through Solvang, hit a few wineries, meander around the wine country then head back to Santa Barbara for vittles. Take a walk on the pier after dinner or check out the shops on State St and call it a night...

    I am going to put a thought into your ear . . . .
    I came back to riding motorcycles after about 40 years, and bought a Triumph Bonneville T-120 Black (March 2017 at age 65).
    Love it. Looks great, comfortable, fun, and sounds so good.
    Then one of my sons bought a 2012 Triumph Street Triple 675. I rode it for about 30 minutes and decided that I HAD to have a Street Triple.
    Over the last five years (now age 71), I now ride my 2018 Street Triple R 765 about four times more than the T-120.
    Hint, hint, nudge, nudge . . .
    Try a Street Triple it might seduce you.
