I absolutely LOVE the vintage Halloween DIYS...brought back some GREAT memories of Halloween, when times were simpler...and well, safer...I try so hard to provide that for my 7 beautiful grandkids...thanks so much for your inspirational ideas!
Love, love, love vintage Halloween. Will be checking out Spirit for that cat mask. Remember how exciting it was to be able to get a "store bought" costume. We were poor and most of my costumes were put together. My favorite was being a ballerina. My sister was able to borrow the outfit from her employer (obviously they were friends). I really thought I was special. Another year my mother dressed me up as a housewife and put a "Kennedy for President" button on the dress (shows my age LOL). A man who answered the door wouldn't give me a candy bar (full sized in those days) because of that button. Remembered that all these years. Loved the video. Nice to see that someone else appreciates times gone by.
Hi Susan! I love your story! We were poor too and the Care Bear costume is the only one I ever got from a store. But my mom always made me great costumes. I dream about times before I was even born all the time 😂
I too grew up with those beautiful vintage Halloween decorations. I remember as a little girl my mom used to decorate the house with them, since she had them from the 1960s so they were really authentic vintage decorations. And I feel so bad that we threw them away, had I known that I would have loved them so much today as I did years ago. Great video, great memories.
Casper the friendly ghost! The best costume ever. It was cute and all the grown ups gave me the big candy bars!!!🤣🤭🤭 I love the vintage holidays! Thanks so much. I love them all but the banner is amazing!
Thanks for the inspiration!...found the cat mask..couldn't get the poster so I used a pumpkin motif napkin...my frame is a bit big,but will do for now till I search for a new one...I cut the elastic on the mask in the center, cut slits in the backing board and threaded the elastic through, pinned the ends together....thanks again....😊😊
You couldn't breathe or see well in those masks and they made your face sweat no matter how cold it was outside, but I still looked forward to getting mine from K-Mart every year! Strawberry Shortcake was my favorite, but I know I went as Barbie and Wonder Woman too. LOVE these projects!
I had a witch and a Frankenstein plastic mask as a kid that I was so excited to wear, but yes, it was very hard to see and breathe in those masks! Lol I love your projects! So cute!
My sister and I are starting a little business where we are making vintage Halloween pinup inspired jewelry, headbands, etc. I've been looking for a way to decorate our little booth and this helps a lot! Thanks for your ideas! We are working on stuff now, to hopefully start attending some fairs and carnivals next year. :)
Hi Billie! When my mom watched she said rik rak before I even said it 😂 I love to hear from my ladies and gents who lived the days I’m so fanatic about 🥰🥰🥰
Rhonda - I LOVE these vintage Halloween projects!! I have two vintage papier-mâché jack-o’-lanterns that were my grandmothers and I love to put them on my mantel every year. 🎃 I think I’ll make a few other projects to go with them, thanks for the inspiration! I have retro post cards set with the images you put on your blocks and bunting. But they have the shiny finish. What would be the best way to dull them down because they would look so much better matt for vintage crafting
Hi Cynthia! It’s an inkjet. I just learned that if you spray hairspray lightly over your printouts they won’t bleed when you put the Mod Podge. I haven’t tried it yet but sounds like it should work. 💗💗💗
