The back story of typhoon lagoon is that a storm came in and destroyed the lazy town,hence the boat stuck on the mountain.placid palms was the name before the storm but changed to leaning palms as the trees got bent in the storm, Love typhoon lagoon xxx
I have VERY fond memories of swimming with my dad as a kid & again with my kids in the shark area. The water was always freezing, but it was a lot of fun to say you swam with sharks! Great work Nate!
I remember it also! I had a shark bite the flipper off my foot when I was snorkeling at Typhoon Lagoon in the early 1990's.
@@laurad2442 For safety, there was actually a plexiglass barrier separating swimmers from the sharks. They couldn’t swim with guests, it was an illusion to make it look like you were swimming with them when in actuality you were separated. It was very cool.
That’s not true… there was no plexiglass to separate them from the people. I am a former cast member and worked there as a lifeguard.
@@mle8309 Maybe they added the glass later on down the line because of experiences like mine! However, there was no barrier between swimmers and the marine life when I was swimming in the reef in the early 1990's, because the shark swam right up to me and bit my flipper off and I watched it fall to the bottom of the tank and the shark went after it!

I remember when they had the shark/fish swimming experience. It was amazing!! I must have been around 11 and I'm 27 now. Not sure how long it hasn't been around! Core memory from the first time I went to Typhoon Lagoon.
I Remember that experience!!! That was so Fun!! Loved doing it with my Dad. I think Crush n Gusher took its Place. I am 36 now. I think I was 8 or 9.
The water parks look awesome. I’m curious to know when Blizzard Beach opens up again. I think it would be cool to see you cover water parks as well. Whatever you want to post on your channel, I will watch it!

I did the swimming with sharks with my son. All the sharks were bottom feed and you were told to just swim at the top of the water it was super cute and an experience I will never forget
Typhoon is always our 1st full day at Disney!! LOVE TYPHOON!!! They did change the doughnuts though, still yummy but they used to be even better!

Definitely. Water park day can also b a Great way to spend a Party day!! When I was a Teenager: we did a Water park then went to Disney QUEST. Those were the days.
Now a Great day would b Water park then Bowling at Splitsville

I love typhoon lagoon. Best thing to do is try and body surf the wave.
And swimming with the sharks was great but the water was freezing. That upside down boat was the viewing deck for those that didn’t swim.
You have 4 fantastic water parks in the area…regular visits to them would really add even more variety.

We went to typhoon lagoon with my two young daughters in June and they LOVED the wave pool! You were much braver than me, I stayed pretty close to shore! We also did misadventure falls about 5 times. Such a fun day! I enjoyed reliving it through your video 😄

Daddy remembers the swimming- he said it was very cold saltwater - they gave you a snorkel to ware so sounds fun . Love your videos and your energy 👊🏼

I used to love Shark Reef! You actually used to be able to go inside the submarine and watch people as they swim by and see the fish!
I ended up in there instead of swimming in the reef because I was scared. I think I was 10. My dad kept saying there was plexiglass, but when we went into the viewing area we saw some of the sharks right next to some swimmers.
Swimming with the sharks was the best thing! The sharks stayed at the bottom. If you were to afraid to swim with them, they had a viewing area inside the submarine. Pretty cool.

Please do more Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach! We watch every video you put out this was one of my favorites. One of my best memories was going to Typhoon Lagoon as a kid. I went in the shark reef I was scared sh*tless! Lol not of the sharks of the snorkel haha

Yes I remember when there were sharks and stingrays in that pool, it was fantastic. It was there on our 1st visit in 2008, don't know why they closed it as it was awesome.

The snorkeling / swimming with the fishes area was always so neat! I only got to do it once on my honeymoon back in 2004 but we really enjoyed it! Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite of the two water parks that Disney offers. Also, those little donuts do look amazing!

Oh my gosh, Nate! We were there yesterday, I wish we had seen you! We got there an hour before the park opened, got a great parking spot but we did have to wait out in the heat for an hour haha. We walked on all the rides within the first hour, though! Hope to see you on a future trip! ❤️

YES! We did this wayyy back in the mid 90s the water was FREEEEEZING cold but you snorkled through the area. It wasnt the biggest area but it was tons of fun!

My son was so excited that we got to meet you in the wave pool on this day! It was the perfect ending to our trip! I also remember the shark tank back in the day. I was actually about 6 or 7 when I snorkeled across the shark tank. I remember it clear as day.

The theming of the park is that it was a peaceful retreat until a typhoon came through, so the “placid” palms became the leaning palms after the typhoon :)

First trip to Disney World we went ro Typhoon Lagoon and remember doing the snorkeling. They gave you snorkel and mask and swam from 1 side to the other. Same trip we went over to River County to the water park and Discovery Island. That was mid-90's!

Snorkeling with the sharks (and other fish!!) was the most amazing thing I’ve ever done in a water park!!! But!!! The water was (as you can probably imagine) very cold and despite the wetsuit they provided my lips were blue when I got out 😂

Hi Nate! Had you are having fun at Typhoon Lagoon. Wish I were there. My husband and I took our kids 20+ years ago. It was when you could swim with sharks. We all had such a cool time doing it. The sharks and (others) were at the bottom and you started at one end and swam to other end over top. I was bummed when I heard they closed it.

A number of years ago my 2 sons, my husband and I did the snorkeling with the sharks. It was fun. I unfortunately found out the first time that my hubby was not a good swimmer. After I got my boys to the steps to exit I had to ho back and help my husband to get across to the exit. The water was very cold!!! But fun!! We did it every time trip until it closed. Our favorite treat there was the Garbage Pail Sundae. It was really good. Thats been renamed the Sand Pail Birthday thing.
We always got the mini donuts at Blizzard Beach as a treat!
We always wore water shoes at the water parks!!!!
