⁴ᴷ Osaka: Kishiwada Station (大阪府: 岸和田駅) - Japan Walking Tour (December, 2024)

It's getting colder, so I'm heading to western Japan. I planned to tour the major cities of Shikoku and crossed the sea, but I ended up taking a ferry from Tokushima to Wakayama and heading north to Kishiwada City in Osaka Prefecture.
Speaking of Kishiwada, it's famous for the Danjiri Festival, and you can feel its presence all over the city. Another thing I noticed while walking is that the streets have almost no steps or curbs, probably to make it easier for pulling the danjiri floats. Since it's a Tuesday, the town feels pretty quiet overall, but the conversations of the people walking around somehow sound lively and spirited. Or is that just my imagination?

はじめまして。大阪市内に近づいた方が治安が良くないんですね。とはいえ大阪も昔に比べれば安心して歩けます。
30年前の通天閣のあたりなんてなかなかの雰囲気でしたよね。56歳の親父です。
