Oh wow! Nice gun! You and I are likely the only two persons in North America that have a Heym combination gun! Ha ha!! :) I have a Model 25 special edition (engraved by Gerd Rausch) chambered in 30-06 and 12 gauge. Mine does not have the sliding selector on the side. Instead, it has two triggers to select which barrel you want to shoot. A key thing I have noticed is that point of impact of the rifle barrel creeps upwards if you fire multiple shots. This is likely due to the uneven expansion of the barrel since its top cools faster. In any case, the first round is always consistent. Thanks again for posting this nice video!
I have a Ferlach made Combination in 16ga over 5.6x50r. I just bought a German Made barrel insert in 5.6x50r for the 16 gauge barrel to make it a nice little double rifle. It's a great caliber and ammo is readily available.
The shown gun is in german language called Bockbüchsflinte. Bock ( in this case over/ under) büchs ( rifle) flinte ( shotgun). Btw., plural of Drilling is Drillinge.
It is a nice looking piece. The calibres would make it very useful for small game - I've even knocked off the odd few pigs with my own 5.6x50R. One thing I would prefer though would be dual triggers. I have used combinations with single selective triggers, as well as dual triggers, and the instant ability to choose makes the latter a winner for me. FWIW I have done a lot of hunting with combinations, especially my Brno 300 series, as well as drillings (I own two Krieghoff drillings) and they are tremendously useful and versatile hunting arms.
Thanks for featuring so many European combination guns and Drillings! Just FYI: if the model designation anf calibre etc. aren't visible on the barrel, just take off the barrel bundle, it's often hidden on the surfaces you can't see.
Hi Mike beautiful gun combination. I have a savage over and under 22-20gauge. Yes looks nicely made !! Thank you so much Mike. Keep videos coming. I enjoy them so much!!
I own the Krighoff Ultra combination in 12/.222rem. Love that rifle. Also Alloy action and a similar scope quick release mount. Two triggers, front trigger (with german stecher when pushed forward) is for the .222rem, trigger back for the 12 gauge. Cocking i do there where you have the safety sliding button on your Heim by pushing it forward and i cock both barrels, but if i push forward and only want to cock one barrel i hold the trigger i don't want to use and it's cocking only the barrel i want to shoot. De-cocking is easy too by pushing the sliding button bit forward again and release the spring tension slowly backwards. Very safe gun to have loaded with you with loaded barrels. The cocking slide button is also for the Krieghoff immediately the safety. The inside of the trigger mechanism is made like swiss watch👌 Thanks for showing the Heim. 👍
Think the rifle cartridge is like our .225 Winchester and ..22 Savage Hi power which has a rimmed case as well. I know they use the 5.6x50R Magnum in Europe on Roe Deer.
I really appreciate combi weapons and have a Tikka 77 caliber 12/222 with an aimpont H2 which is great when hunting deer with dachshund in areas with both forest and Meadows. These weapons are relatively common here (in Scandinavia.)
Excellent video! It’s always nice to see the unique firearms that you showcase. I just ordered a custom Heym SR21 and I can’t wait till it arrives! If you come across one, I’d be interested to see what your thoughts are on an Anschutz model 1782 rifle. It’s their current large caliber center fire rifle. I have one and love it. But finding any reviews on it in English is basically impossible. Love your channel and your style. Take care and greetings from Pennsylvania!
It is of the same family. The .222 Mag is effectively a lengthened .222 (47 mm case length vs 45 mm), and the 5.6x50 is the same basic case lengthened to 50 mm. The 5.6x50R is what you get when you add a rim. As a result of the lengthening there's a bit more capacity and so you get a bit more velocity.
Yes, "Dural", aka "Duralumin". It was the first high-strength aluminium alloy, developed in Germany before WWI and first seen in widespread use in airships. The main alloying element is copper, and the alloy is age-hardenable for high strength. FWIW I have two drillings with Dural receivers.
5.6x50mm in rimmed or rimless is German standard minmum energy & bullet weight requirement for roe deer. I believe that's right. I like your choices. I own a Sauer & Son hammer drilling and an M6 combination gun. I need perhaps what you have, nice Heym! Or a Valmet perhaps. 😊
Lucky you! I shot that round at higher altitude and the humidity was higher I guess - the result was that the bullets in flight left vapor trails. Really cool to see,
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns thank you for such wonderful videos and having such a kind soul. and lastly, ive seen it work wonders, especialy for shakes. its better than a lot of rx's. and a lot of doctors are in favor of if now. my cancer doc was. even if not, you can go out of pocket if ur doc isnt for it, just take it easy, especially early on and you will only notice major benefits. a lot of people ive personally seen have benefited. and btw its not noticable but ive been watching u for a while and thought id finallly mention.
bought 2 guns from Intersurplus so far, a Husqvarna 1640 in 9.3x62, and a beautiful Simson & Suhl SxS 12 Ga, beautiful stuff and both around $500 I'd love a drilling/combination gun, but I'm not sure they exist at reasonable used gun prices
I got three of them rifle 9x2-52 r mag and 16 gauge My other two are in 275 H&H mag and 12 gauge 3 inch mag my last one I have has four barrels that shoot a 458 lott and 10 gauge magnum very good guns a lot of people try buying off on me I told him just to f off because they're my guns and I'm not getting rid of them and you very very rarely find them in the calibers that I have them in
In case of Standarddrilling the riflebarrel is also usually downside. In case of Bockbüchsflinte ( shown weapon) both is possible , also the Bergstutzen exists, developed from Büchsflinte, this is a twobarrelled breakaction rifle with one bigbore barrel and one smallbore barrel.
Nice video - good camera work. I like Combination guns and Drillings but.... I am NOT very keen on the trigger also being the cocking device,,,, 🤒 🤕😷 🤧.... Methinks that could be a disaster if someone was in dangerous game areas.
@ronaldburrows-g6n ---> I just typed in the Brand and model number in my search engine, and you are correct. Uuuuggglleeee is correct and with a plastic stock and they want almost $500 per. 🤧 Mr. Arthur Savage is obviously loooong dead or that thing would never have been marketed.
I absolutely love the combination guns. Thanks for posting

The more I see this type of combo Firearms, the more I want. 😢
Awesome mention of Intersurplus. Love dealing with them, especially for Husqvarna rifles.
Well done Mike beautiful gun combination, Thank you

Mike, that's certainly a great-looking rifle!
Gotta love combination guns and drillings. That's an interesting scope mount, I don't think I've seen that setup before.

Tight Groups too.
Thank you so much for showing us your collection. These guns are amazing

such a gem, and a nice gun too!
My favorite cartridge, 5.6x50RM.
Thats a nice setup I'm looking to get a16 gauge myself👍
German engineering. Always interesting and precise. Fantastic gun.
Really interesting combo gun. I suspect a useful firearm

I agree - I also think of the .225 - you must know things to even be aware of that cartridge! : )
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns No studied firearms since I was old enough to read am 73 now.
That's a good looking combo gun which is more than I can say for savage.
Yes - I agree - the Savage needs help.
Thanks

This is in german language a Bockbüchsflinte ( over/ under rifleshotgun).
Tool is sometimes called a pin spanner. Always enjoy your videos.
Thank you! Now I know!

A buddy of mine just bought a Heym in 5.6x57R/16ga. Finding ammo is a chore!
You're right - not the easiest to find. Someone wrote me about the .204 necked up. One would have to go into it.
Cool stuff. Ive got an old Brno 7x57r x 16ga. Its a heavy piece but I like that 7x57r cartridge
Fantastic BRNO and cartridge. Thos BRNOs are tanks : )
Look off the rifle if very good and fancy,
Very nice 👍
That 5.6X50R reminds me of the 222 Rem Mag, but with a rim.
The R means Rand/rim.
It is of the same family. The .222 Mag is effectively a lengthened .222 (47 mm case length vs 45 mm), and the 5.6x50 is the same basic case lengthened to 50 mm. @@Daniel-vl8mx Thanks for the clarification, I was pretty sure they were related!
The frame looks very similar what I had in a drilling back in the day which was called "dural". It is some kind of quite strong aluminium alloy.
Thank you - I remember now. Super strong and light.
Yes, "Dural", aka "Duralumin". It was the first high-strength aluminium alloy, developed in Germany before WWI and first seen in widespread use in airships. The main alloying element is copper, and the alloy is age-hardenable for high strength.

Your Sauer hammer drilling is high on my list; I have not found one for sale yet. You'll like the Heym or the Valmet - both excellent IMHO
I have a bolt action chambered in 5.56 by 57 ammunition was a scramble to find and expensive !
Lucky you! I shot that round at higher altitude and the humidity was higher I guess - the result was that the bullets in flight left vapor trails. Really cool to see,
gotta smoke some canna, or cbd, to calm the shakes, promise itll help
It's essential tremor. Maybe I'll try. Thanks for suggesting

How about doing a video on the CVA Scout 44 magnum single shot? Great deer and black bear rifle?!!
Great idea - I'll look for one

I would prefer the rifle barrel on top .
Can be done and I've seen some with that configuration.

He is in British Columbia, Canada.
Look on internet pages of german, perhaps austrian companies.

You're right; for sure there are better dangerous game guns. It sure is a fine item though.
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns Agreed!
No I’m not buying another gun!!!
I’d prefer to have a second hand European scope than a new American/ Chinese/ Japanese scope, the lenses are superior and difficult to damage.
This is true
I’ve been looking for a combo gun for years, but the US ones have a bad rap, and the European ones that I’ve seen are in such odd calibres
Too bad Savage doesnt Briing back their model 410-22 original combination gun. The model 42 is butt ugly.l
I agree. The original is fantastic; the current works well but the appearance is something else.
