    Thank you so much for this video!! As of right now I do not want to be on T, but I have been having chest dysphoria and have been doing my research on top surgery. This was one of the big questions that I struggled to find, so thank you so much!!! 💗💗💗

    Thank you for these helpful videos! Recently in germany where I live there have been some new guidelines for health insurance releasing that say that top surgery without having taken T is now being covered by insurance, so I've been looking for information. I will get my top surgery even if I have to sue my insurance for not following the guidelines!!

    Scott, what is the youngest patient age you are willing to operate on? Not sure if you’ve said this anywhere, but I’d like to know. Thanks!

      Hi this is a great question. So for folks under 18 there are a couple things you'd need to know: We will need consent from both parents/legal guardian (unless only one parent has been awarded legal custody), as well as two letters from mental health professionals who can speak to your gender identity and transition. Dr. Mosser will also speak with your therapist via phone prior to your surgical procedure, in order for everyone on your healthcare team to be as interconnected and communicating as possible. Having said that his youngest patient was 15

    What happens if you happen to catch a cold a few weeks before surgery does one need to cancel?

    • @genderconfirmationcenter1826
      @genderconfirmationcenter1826  6 лет назад +3

      This is a great question! You'll need to call your surgeons office and ask. There are different symptoms that they'd be looking for in order to know if they need to cancel the surgery or not. The matter should be taken seriously, so if you feel symptoms coming on before be sure to call them.

    What about binders before surgery 🤔

    • @genderconfirmationcenter1826
      @genderconfirmationcenter1826  3 года назад +4

      It is more than okay if you wear binders before your surgery. The day of the surgery you will be asked to take off your binder. When you wake up from surgery you chest will be wrapped in a new binder that the surgeon will put on you.

    • @misticmcneil3105

      May I ask how long we must wear said new binder

      Hi there! Thanks for asking this question. At The Gender Confirmation Center, we do not prescribe HRT and therefore more specific questions should be directed to an endocrinologist. Deciding to take testosterone is an extremely personal decision, and could be (but not always is) important to feeling aligned with one's identity. We've put together this resource for folks with general questions about testosterone: www.genderconfirmation.com/blog/testosterone/. I hope this is helpful!

    I’ve heard some people say that if you are going to be on T, then you have to wait for awhile before you get top surgery. If I start T, and get top surgery before the hormones have effected my chest, will it cause adverse effects on the scarring or healing or the final result at all?

    • @genderconfirmationcenter1826
      @genderconfirmationcenter1826  6 лет назад +3

      Thanks for this great question! If I'm understanding correctly you're asking if someone about to start T do they have to wait a certain amount of time to get top surgery? At Dr. Mosser's practice no, he has not seen any adverse effects in relation to top surgery (healing, scarring etc) and testosterone. I hope this has answered your question!

    If I am pre everything with plans to go on T, and get top surgery should I do my top surgery or my T first? (My dysphoria is tolerable enough that delaying hormones until top surgery is likely doable.) I’m simply asking that in your experience and on average do you find you have better results before or after testosterone? Does the skin elasticity you have pre-t benefit the final result?

    My top surgery is in 6 days only thing I am worried about is I smoked two packs of cig in the last week and half stopped last night but I am worried if I get tested for it will I not be allowed surgery

    • @genderconfirmationcenter1826
      @genderconfirmationcenter1826  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Owen, if you were smoking 3 weeks before surgery puts you at risk for a number of factors, including the loss of a nipple graft. If you've already had surgery I would advise telling them that you had smoked. I hope all is well and your surgery went ok.

      Dr. Scott Mosser, Transgender FTM Top Surgery-Surgeon surgery went well I am sore but able to move around . Tomorrow I have my post op can’t wait to get the binder off in a week and a half . The weird thing is I have no feelings in both armpits .

    • @genderconfirmationcenter1826
      @genderconfirmationcenter1826  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Owen, glad things went well! Soreness is pretty normal and numbness around the armpits can be reportedI would bring up the numbness under your armpits at your appointment as it's always a good idea to keep them keyed in to your recovery.

    Hi, ik it's been 3 years since this video. But, I've been feeling like I should only start T after I eventually have top surgery. So how soon after surgery do you recommend taking T? If I take T before tip surgery I feel like for me it wouldn't look right, because my chest area is large and there's no way to hide it
