I remember seeing the episode that introduced the Cybertron Defense "team" (do I need those quotation marks there?) on Hasbro's website around the time it aired. And I really loved the molds back then. Wish more botcon/TFCC exclusives would let me see more use of them. Ah well, I can dream.
Same here. I wish RiD was closer to it in structure. Thats how you do a transformers kids show, crazy strength feats and a ton of transformation sequences. And a really cool theme.

it's surprisingly easy to forget that in the show he's a space Scottish construction worker king... man that series was weird but it had such awesome music.
The amount of times I have pinched myself trying to transform this guy... Great shelfpiece though, quite imposing but damn does he hurt.

Additional toy trivia: He uses the same odd hand peg as the optimus you showed as a size comparison. So they can actually switch weapons despite not using the 5mm peg system.

Metroplex's mini-con is a remold of Armada Megatron's mini-con Leader 1
I think the instruction manual calls it "short work mode". Mine is the Galaxy force version so i cant confirm since its japanese. I prefer the short work version since he has much more bulk to it. He is just too damn thin in his tall mode :D Also you can attach the crane arm to his back in short work mode and it looks ggreat, like a third attak arm.
I found this toy a couple years ago for 6 or 10 dollars. I don't quite remember. Except it didn't come with drillbit or the huge arm.

Fun fact, Drillbit is a slightly enlarged repraint of Armada Megatron's minicon with his torso flipped. I always loved that mold and that was one of my reasons for liking this Metroplex

I just recently watched the entirety of Transformers Cybertron, and I noticed Metroplex’s vehicle mode was barely featured, and only from the front at that. They animators were probably trying to hide how ridiculous the vehicle mode is.

I remember wing saber being crazy hard to get, and arguably the best leader class optimus prime ever.
Drill Bit was actually reverse-engineered from Armada Megatron's partner Leader-1. I mean that literally, as the torso is upside down. The cockpit on his back is the wrong way round for vehicle mode because of his wider shoulders, which were the hips on Leader-1...
Ahhhh, memories, I remember using his weapon to fight my sister, wait a minute...I must have been a very annoying little bugger back then...

The thing about Metroplex is that in Galaxy force his name is Megalo Convoy, it's not that big of a deal, but the fact that so far the only transformers with Convoy in their names are either Optimus and Rodimus, I love that technically Metroplex is one of a "prime" in Galaxy force along side the other planet leaders Override (Nitro convoy), Scourge (Flame convoy) and Evac (Live convoy).

I wanted Metroplex as a kid but never got him but when I my son was old enough (3yrs was my excuse) and I got back into collecting, I was finally to say I had Metroplex, different version but still Metroplex.

I feel like Cybertron Metroplex is more Fortress Maximus. Fort Max has been depicted as a normal transformer in size in most media, while Metroplex has maintained his Titanhood in most incarnations. Making this figure Fortress Maximus works better.

I called the stumpy-leg configuration, " Dr. David Nelson mode". ( With Apologies to Jessie Jackson )
Kind of a T- Rex thing going on with the taller robot mode... long legs, massive, but with tiny little arms. Would've looked a lot better if they'd built the arms so that they could slide down somehow (with the added bonus of being able to have the "Work Mode" with long ape-like arms! lol). Also, they could've filled the empty section at the back of the alt-mode with something that flipped up to become a little backpack, just to take away that skinny side profile. just seems like they could've put a bit more thought into this one.

I've had this figure for a very long time and actually didn't know what his name was until now and I always thought he was something from ancient Egypt instead of a mining vehicle.

I remember this thing! I still have it somewhere in the house, but I remember the transformation being a bit too complicated for me when I was younger. But holy crap that Generations Metroplex is huge.
By the way, did he not come with a tiny Optimus Prime that scaled in with the show? Mine came with it and it even fully transforms.
Also, the skit doesn't properly reflect Metroplex's depiction in the show :P

Lots of figures from the Cybertron line are very awesome figures. They don't make figures like these anymore. Don't know why. I hope more reviewers can review figures from this line. I have the takara Vector Prime from this line.
