I seen the poor man at the Galway Races as a young fella. I stood there transfixed at the sight of this man, until I got a clip on the ear from from my aunt, and was dragged away....God be good to them both, RIP +++, and God be with the days....Ireland was different back then....
I was 12 when the guy was on. I always looked forward to the Late Late & the horror film double bills on BBC2 on a Friday & Saturday night. Mostly glad I grew up when I did.
OMG.. long passed away RIP , I remember him well as he appeared at festivals etc. Being a young buck myself, I didn't care for that music, I still don't 😂, but without doubt Dan is legend 🙏🙏
@@kevinbrady8093 I heard he was a teacher at some stage, certainly a smart guy, pulling that cart around was not without reward and the spectacle was better than his singing or playing. Altogether though a legend of his time.
Dan The Street Singer, kitted out to the hilt, no expense spared, even a 12 string electric guitar, he has even got wheels on the camper van that he pulls behind him. My advice to Dan is don't go to Galway City without your umbrella, it rains hard in that town from time to time, Good for you Dan The Street Singer Man

Basil, his real name, was a secondary school teacher. He was playing in bands from at least the 1960s. At school if a tune needed to be played he’d always get me to fetch that guitar and a small amp from his car - a hatchback/saloon with a bubble window sticking out, more room? My older brother played guitar; Basil figured I wouldn’t drop that Burns or run away with it : ) Basil Morahan, a great man, with a great sense of humour…RIP
Bollox. Dan was strapped into a harness, including a very heavy guitar. If he was to turn around to face Gay and shake hands “properly” he would have taken Gay out with the neck of guitar…
Basil Morahan passed on to the Great Buskathon in the Sky in the summer of 1998 at the age of 68. Like Ed Sheeran, who some say he inspired, he played to thousands of people in his time.

@@thehairysnot8069 Some say he turned down the opportunity to replace Mick Taylor in the Rolling Stones in January 1975, because he bumped into one of his biggest fans, Rory Gallagher, at Schipol Airport, and Rory told him not to waste his time with the Stones' gig, as they were all in a shockin' state at the time, and not a rosary between them.
@@thehairysnot8069 I can't believe you know Tom too!! Shame he got scalped by the baler. Some say they found the biggest collection of vintage porn mags in the history of Mayo when they went in to clear out his house, and that as a young lad, he attended Sandford Park with Conor Cruise O'Brien.

Reminds me of a busker in New Zealand in Takaka. just busking for de people sharing his songs for years...
He sang and played very well! It would be nice if they gather any videos or pictures and make more videos of him.

I quite like this as a memory of times past, but odd to see a wonderful Burns Double Six 12 string used for two chord strumming. :)
