For us it was the coal lorry that created the most fascination. To watch the coal lorry drive in reverse and tip a ton of coal in your yard was amazing. Then dad would give me a sixpence to give the driver. We filled wheelbarrows with coal to throw in the coal house some six pacers away! Acky black and happy!! The bin men took my cardboard recycling this morning. I watched to make sure they didn't just drive by without taking it. I was happy.

Here in 🇦🇺before the fully automated rubbish trucks, some athletes (especially aussie rules footballers) used to join a bin run as part of their training program (lots of running and lifting). We always left out beers for the bin men who worked on Christmas day. I loved the story about the boy and the rubbish 🚚

I own 2 Chihuahuas! They have the largest personalities for small dogs. Very bossy and pushy. They bring me so much joy and laughter!❤
When each set of my kids (from diff marriages about 10 years apart) were little, we'd go out to the sidewalk to watch and cheer the garbage truck and the recycling truck when they did their weekly pick-ups. Once one of the recycling truck drivers stopped and got out and gave my son a tiny Hot Wheels version of Torrance Recycling (it was printed on the side of the toy truck!) to keep. Nowadays, I work in the mornings at a preschool that is alongside the driveway of a large apartment complex that their various trash trucks roll along several mornings a week, since it's a really big place, I guess. Every time they cheer and wave and call out to the drivers even tho we have a privacy fence with ivy so I know they can neither see nor hear the kids (sadly). I always say that as much as I appreciate the police dept (Dad was a cop) and the fire dept, my real city heroes are the trash maintenance people cus where would we be without them?!

I have worked in childcare and independently as a Nanny for about 25 years and young boys universally adore bin trucks! In the daycare, the kids would run to the fence to watch them each week. Not just boys, the excitement crosses gender!
Love your story about the boy and his little friend 😍 When I was a baby my dad actually worked for a bit in a recycling plant, though I still have to ask him exactly what he did. Apparently in Sweden there’s an architecture firm where everyone who works there, from the architects down to the janitors, make the same amount of money. I’m kind of in two minds about that model, but mostly I think it’s really cool. What I mean is, I that it’s not right that the most difficult and disagreeable jobs often pay the least and are the least respected. I really think that binmen and bankers should be equally compensated and valued. Incidentally it was trash day today here 😊
Thank you. Venus in Leo should be fun! We are getting some needed rain late evening and overnights, maybe a few days, too. So I'm happy. We used to have a lovely collie in our neighborhood and also used to be an au pair on weekends for two boys and their two shelties, that was very high energy decades ago!

I felt pressure to do something for my birthday this weekend, but I've cancelled so I can laze around eating chocolates and get a takeaway 😊 Celebrations can wait! Then I get birthday attention for longer 🤭 🦀

Lassie dog - Shetland Collies aka Sheltie. Binman always gets Christmas half dozen (I appreciate)
The dog on the strength card is a French bulldog who looks just like my former boss’s dog Hendrix. The dog on the 4 of swords looks like my fave nail artist’s dog Carl. Not a list fan, other than the occasional supermarket list. My sweet Supervisor would say in her best southern drawl that the author of the 32 point list “needs sumthin tuh do”
We've had a new Trollibox system of bin recycling here and there was a competition in schools for the kids to come up with the names for the bin lorries. I have a big list but can't post here unfortunately. So far I have seen Recyclops and Dusty McBinlid but I haven't seen my fave Lord of the Bins yet 😂

I switched off mentally when you mentioned a list. I've retired and I don't need that shit anymore. On the upside I've just had a facetime call from Darling Daughter who's just had a caesarian and was feeding a plump 8 and a half pound little boy. I'm now a grandma or Mamie as they call them in France.

My dogs always bark when our trash truck comes by! I try to tell them that I put the trash out there for them to take, but they still feel the need to protect the trash.

Gosh, that list was starting to make me both tired and agitated, I’m glad you stopped! 😅 I think a list is only really helpful when you’ve got too many things popcorning around in your head and making feel too overwhelmed and chaotic or worried. Then it can be really helpful to get it all onto a piece of paper. It can make things seem more manageable or just work as a kind of mental cleanse 🤯☺️
